peeta going "it's okay i get them to" in response to katniss' nightmares makes me think about how he never reaches out to someone for his own comfort, but comes running to comfort her? it makes me think that it was likely drilled into his mind that he had to take care of himself, so even when his nightmares were terrible after the games, even when he needed someone, he never thought to reach out. not to katniss or anyone else.

peeta doesn't mourn portia and his team until a little later. his hijacked memories heavily warped his time during the games, including his memories of them. it's only after months of treatment to reclaim his mind or bits of it is he able to sort of piece them back together and that's when he gets to mourn them (and blame himself for their executions)
