let us step into the night

Today we’ll be focusing on the wonderful @phoebe-delia​! Phoebe is another one of my favorites - she’s one of the kindest, most enthusiastic, supportive people I’ve had the joy of getting to know in fandom, and I feel truly blessed to have gotten to know her. 

The fic we’ll be lifting up today is Watch What Happens (Drarry, 3603 words, Gen).

Okay, so first, she had me from the title because I fucking LOVE Newsies and I LOVE THIS SONG. 

One of the things I love in a fic is when it’s really clear the author is speaking from their own domain-specific expertise, and Phoebe gives us that with Journalist Draco. I love this Draco - I personally really need to have acknowledgement of the redemption Draco has to have worked for in order to really engage, and Phoebe gives us that. 

I love that both Harry and Draco are imperfect people, and they have to get beyond their assumptions to connect in the present.

And, obviously, I love good bisexual representation!

"What do you want ?"

Harry did not move, contemplating the shimmering crystal chandelier in the ball room. Of course, Malfoy. When Ron, Hermione and himself had planned this new robbery, they had studied the Malfoy family closely : these blond, conservative witches and wizards were the epitome of the old magic nobility. The very reason for the segregation between pure-bloods and the rest of them.

The Malfoys were living in such opulence, luxure and wealth, it was almost painful to see.

"I want to take you down, Malfoy. I want you and your kind to fall from your ivory tower, and taste the mud you think that is running in our veins."

The heir's mouth parted for a second, his eyes shining outrageously in the darkness of the alcove. Harry licked his own lips without thinking, and couldn't quiet believe it when Draco Malfoy replied :

"I'll help you."

Draco opens his mouth but the cliffs are crumbling, falling away like sandcastles, and the terrifying darkness of the storm-wild waves reaches up to eclipse Harry.

He wakes with a painful rush of adrenaline, a cry half-buried in his throat.

Absolutely thrilled to share my second ficbinding, that of If an Injury Is to Be Inflicted by the brilliant @shealwaysreads . A dramatic and intense story, I fell in love with Bella's sharp characterizations for Draco and Harry and the compelling dynamic between them. I couldn't put this fic down, and now I can page through one of my favorite fics again and again.

This binding is my little twist on a Secret Belgian Binding (tutorial linked from the incredible Sea Lemon), with so many lessons learned from @renegadepublishing @armoredsuperheavy and my endless awe at @queercore-curriculum 's stunning binds. It features paper from Hollander's as a cover, black thread on the outside, and red inside.

And of course, I've included (inset on either side of chapter two) the gorgeous twin portraits by @maesterchill Few know what you are.
