i will say this. i do see a lot of people excusing Jax's mother's actions or painting her as the victim and i don't think that's right.
i don't think Jax killed her mother on purpose (heck, we don't even know if she's dead). i think that Jax running away out of fear is an understandable reaction to the situation. not the right thing to do, but understandable. a lot of people would freak out in that kind of situation.
i see a lot of TADC criticals saying that Jax was violent towards her mother or even that she was abusing her mother, and this is the only instance where i'll actually defend Jax.
it was clearly implied that her mother hugging her was a form of emotional manipulation and clearly a very foreign thing to her. it's not wrong to act on impulse when someone who has never shown you any affection suddenly hugs you.
again, i'm not really condoning her actions, i'm just talking about nuance. Jax was a terrible person but you can still acknowledge that she was a victim and that this was a moment of impulse rather than a calculated crime.
it reminds me of when some spop criticals just get rid of nuance completely and say that Catra deserved to be abused by Shadow Weaver or something along those lines.
let's just try and be reasonable here and criticize things that actually need to be criticized. Jax and Catra were both abusers. they tortured a lot of people and refused to change or take accountability for their actions. but that doesn't mean they deserve to be abused. in fact, the abuse is the thing that drove them to this kind of behavior.

every time i see Jax and Gangle "friendship" content, i die a little inside because it almost always indicates that Jax was her abuser because she was what Jax wasn't // liked things Jax felt like she couldn't.
i saw someone make a "comedic" video about how one of their hcs was that part of the reason Jax abuses bullies is mean to Gangle is because she's secretly an anime nerd ( or smth like that ) and Gangle is more likely to open up about it than she is.
