Sun/Sunny☀️
Welcome to my meticulosuly-crafted daydream world.
Warning: under construct. A place for my Smurfs-hyperfixation, and my Sunflowers - my fics on AO3. You can find me there under the name "Sundannsair".
My works are based mainly on the 1980’s cartoon’s universe, with some elements taken from the comics. Thus the naming (my Greedy Smurf = Chef + Greedy).
Smurfs are creatures of the Moon (who they worship as Mother Moon), so their magic is a special form of Moon-magic. Every member of the current generation bears some kind of unique magic, except for Handy. He was given the ability to have prophetic dreams instead. It is referred to as “Cassandra’s legacy”. The smurfs are not quite aware of the presence of their magic, yet. (Except for a few, but only on the level of suspicion.)
Moon-magic is inherently silver, but given that Smurfs bear a special kind of it, their default magic is mainly blue.
Something terrible happened in the past, which almost wiped out their whole race, leaving Papa Smurf as the sole survivor. With the help of Mother Moon the new generation was born, and that event led to the fact that they were delivered in a hurry, in a span of a single year.
The phase “baby smurf” lasts for the first ten years of their lives. “Smurfling” is the name of a smurf, who’s between 10 and 100 years old. (Though during the last decades they are quite rebellious, and don’t like to be addressed like that.) Smurfhood starts at 100. (This doesn’t mean their brains are fully developed by then. They still need a lot of time to mature.)
The fics, in which the smurfs are considered grown-ups, take place between their 100-110 years of age. (If not, it’s pointed out.) At the age of 110, the members of the current generation start growing hair.
Baby Smurf is delivered when the current generation is 100 years old.

"I find Johan and his adventures as interesting as a bowl of gruel, and I always hated characters whose only trait is being annoying. Peewit doesn't have a single trait, which I would find interesting or redeeming enough to make me watch him, so I won't." 😁
In your Smurfs universe, what is the oldest to youngest order (in order of delivery) of Papa’s 98 little Smurfs (the ones you include in your stories and have Headcanons about: Brainy, Clumsy, Dreamy, Farmer, Greedy, Grouchy, Handy, Harmony, Hefty, Hunter, Jokey, Lantern, Lazy, Marco, Miner, Painter, Poet, Pushover, Scaredy, Sloppy, Tailor, Timid, Tracker, Tuffy and Vanity)? (Again, only curious)
Those who already have a "number" are the following:
1. Hefty, the oldest of the current generation
2. Farmer
3. Greedy
7. Handy
34. Harmony
50. Grouchy
57. Painter
76. Clumsy + 77. Brainy (the only two who were delivered on the same night)
Question: In your universe, what is the full list of Papa’s 98 little Smurfs (Not counting Smurfette, Baby, Hundredth, or the Smurflings. Just Papa’s 98 sons)!
I can't give you a full list, only those characters I feature in my fics and have hc-s about, so, here they are:

Out of curiosity: Who are your least favorite Smurfs in your opinion, and why? (From any iteration of the franchise, from what you know and have seen. THIS QUESTION IS RELATED TO CHARACTERS WHO ARE SMURFS)
Hm, let me think🤔 I've only seen approx. 60% of the og series, the first 2 seasons of Ntob, The lost village, and the 2 live action movies.
In the og series I dislike Jokey the most, cause he's a little jerk, but he has some redeeming qualities if you are patient and dig deep enough, and despite all, he does care about the others and if push comes to shove, he can be more than just a jokester.
Tuffy was also irritating, like a meaner subtype of Hefty, I've seen him only as a bully, too one-sided.
In Ntob I hate Jokey. While in the 1980's series he is kinda likeable despite his flaws, in Ntob he's just an annoying jerk and nothing else.
I don't like Reporter or Narrator either, the former because he is too modern, the latter because he feels unnecessary, just a "filler" character, if it makes sense.
I only remember the main characters of The lost village movie, and they were good or okay for me (except for Blossom, gosh, she is so annoying.)
Fortunately I forgot almost everything about the live action nightmares (Yes, I've seen both once. Thank God I remember only the characters and only one scene from both movies.) What I remember is that I hated Gutsy and Vexy and Hackus, cause they operated with infantile and/or gross humour, and I despise both.
As for the girls in general, I'm neutral towards them except for Blossom. I've always found the "too hyper" type of characters irritating, and she is too much in every aspect.
What are your reasons for liking the Chef x Brainy concept? (Because when I asked you your opinion on the 2021 CGI/NTOB Smurfs cartoon, you told me, “Chef x Brainy is an interesting concept I enjoy from time to time”)
I mean, just look at them! They are so flirty with each other. Chef is a character from Ntob I really like, he's so fun to watch with his exaggerated mannerism and fiery temper. And he seems to be caring towards Brainy, even when he's annoyed by his antics. (Asking for his opinion etc...)
There are episodes when Chef has a complete meltdown because he's fearing for Brainy's safety (eg. Pop out and Brainy gets ghosted), and ones when they are positively flirty with each other (eg. Smurfs might fly)
I could not ignore the appeal of this ship. If they got together, it would be a really rocky relationship with heated arguments, but an absolutely rewarding one with not a single boring moment.
question: Before you rediscovered the Smurfs and got back into the fandom back in 2024, how long were you in the fandom, when did you fall out of the fandom? (Before you got back into it in 2024, just curious)
Oh, good question!😍
I really liked the og series when I was a child, watched it a lot back then, if I could. (Recently I was organizing my childhood drawings and found a horrible one about the Smurfs, I might have been 5 years old when I drew it, I think, based on the "quality". 🤣)
So, I think I started watching them when I was maybe 3 or 4, and watched the cartoon for about 5 or 6 years. (Back then we only had a TV, and watched whatever was on during that short period when we were allowed to watch cartoons. Dad was not a fan of screens raising children, so we had limited access to media, thank God.) I wouldn't say I was "in the fandom", there were no fancy names for childhood interests back then, we just liked things, it's that simple. In Hungary during that time merch was almost nonexistent, thank God, at least where I lived, we didn't have merch about the Smurfs either. So we just watched the cartoons we liked and skipped those we don't. If we missed an episode, we couldn't do a thing about it, if we were lucky, they were airing them once again after 6-12 months.😄
After that, our interest shifted and I haven't watched a single episode till I was attending uni (during the 2010's). I had internet access that time and I remember watching that horrible Christmas episode with my Dad out of boredoom. (The one when Gargamel tried to sell 2 kids to Satan maybe?😅 Don't want to refresh my memories on that one.)
And nothing else till the Great Discovery of May, 2024.

What are some episodes of the 1980s/og/classic Smurfs cartoon that felt too modern to you?
Oh boy, I had to go through the episode list for a bit, cause it's been almost a year since I last binged the og episodes now. But here are a few, which's concept felt too modern for me:
Astrosmurf
Smurfbox derby
Circus for baby
Locomotive smurfs
There was one episode where Grandpa had an air balloon if I remember correctly
Any episode where they celebrate Christmas like a modern American child.
Thoughts on Gargamel’s mother? (I don’t really like her in my opinion, this is one of those times I feel bad for Gargamel)
I enjoy her character. She's that type of evil witch, which is entertaining to watch, with a personality that can make even Satan himself shrivel in fear. Her being Gargamel's mother explains a lot, though. Seeing him constantly seeking her approval is kinda sad to watch, not gonna lie.
I'm really proud of this! Every bit of lore is original here, my own creation.
Long ago, when the world was still young, the gods and deities were allowed to descend from above and gather the ingredients needed in order to create their children. Mother Moon acquired the rare blue clay this way (can be found in one cave and nowhere else), but she didn’t use it for long. At first, she created her other children instead. Mother Moon had way less children compared to most of her peers; she had fun creating them and giving them rare abilities or traits. The world was still young and filled with magic, when she came up with the smurfs.
The smurfs were her youngest children, her little “love project”, among the youngest magical creations of this world. She put all of her love and heart into making them; after witnessing the darkness spreading, she made sure their hearts cannot be corrupted.
The gods are not allowed to descend once again after their turn was over, but smurfs cannot reproduce like most of the folks below. Mother Moon is responsible for making the members of the new generation. In order to get the clay for her work, she asks the spirits of the shooting stars to bring them some when they return. It has been working so far, but unbeknownst to her, something horrible happened.
When she banished the dark fae for the betrayal they committed (details later on), one of their sorcerers put a curse on and poisoned the blue clay, so that smurfkind would be doomed to perish sooner or later. She hasn’t found out about this for some time, because she always had a little clay stashed away for later use.
When the smurfs were being hunted to the verge extinction, (eventually leaving the young Papa Smurf, back then known as Sorcerer, as the last living one) Mother Moon pleaded with the supreme deities to allow her descent once again, in order to intervene and rescue smurfkind.
But she was told no. She had already violated their laws once, when she’d made the dark fae disappear from this timeline; she was ordered to stay put and accept the course of nature, as tragic as it was. The gods are not allowed to intervene in the events of this world in such a drastic manner. If this is how the smurfs will disappear, then be it. No more trips down for clay, no more smurfkind, sometimes extinctions happen.
But as a mother, she couldn’t just stand by. She waited for the New Moon, and, despite the ban, put on a disguise and sneaked back down to get as much clay as she could just acquire. (It was too late to save them…) It was then and there when she realised the clay had been poisoned, making it no longer fit for creation.
During the New Moon, Mother Moon is the weakest. Down below her powers are just a fraction of her true glory. Yet, in a last desperate act, she used all her powers to purge the clay. It was successful only to a small extent, she could clean only a small fraction of the clay. She took it and fled back to the skies, and started creating right then in haste. She knew the others discovered her betrayal by the use of her powers.
When the other deities arrived, she used almost all the clay she rescued, 99 new little smurfs were waiting to be delivered. Mother Moon accepted whatever punishment they thought fit for her disobedience, but pleaded for her children’s lives. After a short dispute, the gods took mercy on the babes and let them be delivered safely in the course of a year. But Mother Moon was punished, she is now bound to the skies, her powers strictly controlled.
What the other gods don’t know is when her act was discovered, she lied about using all of the clay she acquired. She hid the last, tiny bit in her clenched fist, and later on used it to create the three Smurflings and Baby Smurf.
Thoughts on Nosey Smurf? (In the 1980s/OG/Classic series, he appears in the episode, The Lost City of Yore)
To be competely honest with you, even though I rewatched that episode approx a year ago, I cannot remember that guy. I can picture a smurf existing with this trait though, roaming in the Village, much to the others' annoyance.

Well, I always found his introduction unnecessary. They already had a Scaredy and a Timid, I feel like having a Weepy also was a bit too much. In my Au Timid and Scaredy are the youngest of the bunch and Weepy doesn't exist.
I find him an interesting character all in all. His interactions and banters with Gargamel and Azrael were entertaining. He had so much more potential than just be a mistreated punchbag. I think, unlike Gargamel, he had the potential to become a more powerful wizard, if under the right master, who could entertain, challenge, guide and stimulate him well enough. He deserved a redemption arc, some kind of character development, but, sadly, he got none.
Such a shame Ntob didn't feature him instead of those two irritating children.
