He stops scanning the crowd

and looks at him.

He can tell instantly

that he is overwhelmed,

trying to hold it all in.

Without thinking,

he places a hand gently on his back.

He feels him take a deep breath,

allowing himself

to break down.

He wraps his arms around him

and lets himself break, too.

The crowd disappears,

and for a moment,

it is just the two of them.

He flashes back

to them holding hands

while they watched Mumford & Sons from the wings:

“I kinda prefer being the hole rather than the peg” . . . on the page, so cringey I want to die. Hudson’s line reading somehow made it sweet and kinda emotional?

And this is an unpopular one, but I hate the “stupid Canadian wolf bird” scene in the book. (Admittedly, this is a me problem, I hate scenes that are meant to be funny but aren’t.) Instead of trying to force laughs, Connor and Hudson were so genuine that it felt sooooo much more natural on the screen.
