PART TWO of this is coming soon !
megumi fushiguro had to be the quietest college kid on all campus—you’ve never heard him speak outside of class, he didn’t seem to be part of a friend group, and getting a word from him if you weren’t a professor was basically impossible.
nothing bothered him; you though he was always mad but after observing him a couple of times, you realize that was just his face.
he was smart, had good grades, a respectable reputation, but no one knew anything about him.
the most you would get from him were stolen glances that made heat spread across your face.
he has really pretty blue eyes.
you weren’t the most popular girl ever, but you were well known. your loud, yet caring personality was charming. you weren’t the sharpest pencil in the box, but it’s not like you skipped class and ignored assignments.
you’ve been curious about megumi for awhile—you talked to almost everyone, most talked to you. why hasnt he?
one day before class starts, you skip towards him.
“hey, megumi.” you smiled sweetly.
“fushiguro.” he mumbled.
“the name’s fushiguro.” he replied coldly.
“sorry!” you kept your polite tone, not wanting to give him the wrong impression. “how are you?”
he didn’t even spare you a glance before mumbling, “fine.”
you stood there for a few seconds before ultimately giving up—he clearly didn’t want to talk to you. he could’ve been nicer about it.
after that day, he slipped from your mind—you had mid-terms soon, and weren’t going to fail because of a nonchalant mysterious dude in your class.
You sat near the front, resting your chin on your hand, losing yourself in thought.
“the groups are in the board. get together and start the project.” your professor’s voice finally registering in your mind.
“project?” you huffed. you had not paid attention during the majority of the lecture, almost falling asleep halfway, and most definitely missed the directions.
“i’m heading to the library.” a tall figure stands in front of you.
you look up, “o-okay?”
megumi was standing in front of you, avoiding your gaze—“are you coming?”
“why-“ you look at the board and realize you were fucked.
Everyone had groups of 3, except you two—who got paired.
“you have to be kidding.” you scoff, already a bit pissy from the stress. you liked group projects because they could be fun while still productive. but with this robot, it’d be just work for days.
“uneven numbers.” megumi says, voice monotone and unbothered by your comment.
“yeah. yeah, im coming.” you slide your computer into your bag, slinging it over your shoulder.
you follow megumi—you struggling to keep up with his fast pace—who was walking to the nearest library.
well mid-terms were a few days away for certain classes, so all the smart kids were pulling all nighters or just playing minecraft.
“um-“ you rubbed the back of your neck.
it was pouring outside, and there wasn’t another library in a 2 mile radius…or was it 3? either way, you did not want to come home from the library at 11 p.m.
you hesitated, but really did not want to be stuck at school for longer than you could endure.
“m-my dorm is just across the street.”
megumi exhaled, “fine.”
you stood near the main doors, looking at the absolute down pour, “i don’t have an umbrella.”
you both sprint out in the heavy pour to your dorm. you hadn’t really taken notes in any of your classes, so the only worry was your laptop.
when you finally reached the building doors, you and megumi were absolutely drenched.
“oh my god.” you looked down at the water dripping from your hair and clothes.
“my dorm’s on the third floor-“ you huff.
“…the elevator’s under maintenance.”
“oh. well we have another one.” you tilt your head into the direction as you were wringing your shirt.
“the one that says “broken” in big bold letters?”
oh could this day get any worse?
“the stairs can’t be broken, right?” you bleated.
you both walk up the stairs—tightly holding on to the rail to avoid slipping.
“are we almost there?” you groan, louding stepping on each stair.
“i don’t know? it’s your dorm.” he shrugs, hands in his pockets.
“oh my godddd.” you turn back.
“this is the wrong floor.” you shake your head, you walked up all those stairs for nothing.
megumi doesn’t respond, he just follows you back down.
after FINALLY getting to your dorm room, you almost collapse. “take your shoes off.”
he nods, slipping them off and placing them near the door.
you open a drawer under your bed, pulling out two towels.
“here.” you throw megumi a pink towel for him to dry off.
“thanks.” he grumbles, unzipping his sweater.
you glance at him, before doing a second take.
he was wearing a white shirt…that was completely see through after being out in the rain.
you trained your eyes to the ground, don’t look don’t look don’t fucking look-
“do you have a spare shirt?” he asks.
“uh- yeah i think.” you open the other drawer and rummage through the organized stack—until you find an old oversized shirt.
“i don’t know if it’ll fit.”
he takes it from you, looking around—not noticing your lingering eyes.
your dorm wasn’t too small, but you didn’t have a walk in closet nor a bathroom. he softly sighs before taking his shirt off.
your jaw slightly drops at the sight of his muscular body—his arms were huge, and the way his abs flexed had you gagged. “been hiding that all along?” you mumble.
“hm?” he looks up at you, patting the dowel over his damp body.
“nothing!” you turn around. “i’ll be back.”
you grab fresh clothing from out your drawer and hurry to the communal bathroom down the hall.
you come back completely dry except your hair, that was still wet.
“i don’t think i have any pants-“
he’s changed too, grey sweatpants and the shirt you let him borrow.
“i use these for the gym. they were at the bottom of my bag.” he looks at you, tips of his ears growing red.
you had on black shorts with a tank top…that didn’t leave too much to the imagination.
“we should get started.” he cleared his throat.
“your hair is still dripping water.” you point at the droplets falling from his spiky hair.
you pull out a blow dryer from your night stand, “this won’t take long.”
you plug it into the wall—loud, buzzing noises filling the room.
you turned your head to the side, letting the dryer blow its warm air on your wet ends.
megumi stared at you, his gaze was softer.
or are you imagining things?
you turned the blow dryer towards his hair.
“what are you doing?” he grunted, scooting back.
“you’re going to get your clothes and our notes wet. stay still.” you grabbed his wrist, pulling him in.
you kneeled besides him, passing your hair brush though his hair as you blow dried it.
“there!” you patted his now dry, warm hair. yeah, he didn’t use hair gel, his hair was just naturally spiky?
you unplugged the dryer and put in back in the nightstand. “let’s get started…what are we starting exactly?”
megumi looked up at the ceiling, gnawing at his lower lip.
“just do what i tell you.”
about two hours go by—he’s on his laptop researching, telling you the important stuff so you could type down on the shared google doc.
he goes through his neat notes, “he mentioned this during monday’s lecture, write it down.”
“are we-“ you yawn, “almost done?”
“we have two weeks for this project, you seriously think we’ll get done after-“ he taps his phone awake, checking the time, “two hours?”
“well, you’re smart, aren’t you?” you giggle.
megumi’s eyes narrow, typing something on his computer.
“shut up, listen, and type.”
you nod, fingers hovering over your keyboard.
“well be done in 30.” his gaze meets yours for a brief moment before looking back at his screen.
and he wasn’t lying. exactly 30 minutes later, he shut his laptop off.
“finally!” you slammed your laptop screen towards the keyboard, resting your head on the bed behind you.
“are you free to work tomorrow?”
“mm, nah i’m going to a party.” you pick your phone up, “my friend’s throwing it, wanna come?” the words left your mouth so easily, but you didn’t realize who you were asking.
“c’mon, it’ll be fun.” you blink, oh my god what am i doing? sure you want everyone to feel included, but megumi was the type to not want to be included.
you don’t know why, but your lips just kept moving.
“well if you change your mind—come to my dorm before 9, and we’ll go.”
shut up. shut the hell up.
“…” megumi looks to the side, it almost looks like he’s actually thinking about it.
“uh- i can on friday? does that work?” you try to change the subject of the party to something else.
you nod, eyes drifting towards the window. “it’s pouring…”
“do you want to stay…over?”
WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU SAYING
megumi’s a bit taken aback, “what?”
“my roommate...is staying with her boyfriend for the next few days. her bed is empty.”
“i wouldn’t want some random sleeping in my bed.” his eyebrows pinch together.
“well you can take mine and i’ll take hers.”
megumi looks at the window, a sudden spark of thunder appearing in the sky.
the bus stop isn’t too far…but there was a risk of it being too full since you live on the busiest street ever.
“I-“ he doesn’t even know you all that well. so why do you feel so trustworthy?
“if it’s not too much of a bother.” he bows his head down slightly.
“o-okay! don’t worry about it.”
your soft smile gives him an unfamiliar feeling in his stomach.
“i have extra toothbrushes and face wash in the small bin in my nightstand.” you turn the door knob.
“where’s the bathroom?” he opens the nightstand—cutely organized with labels and decorative bows.
“oh! you can just come with me.” you open the door.
megumi nods, grabbing a toothbrush and small bottle of face wash before closing your nightstand drawer.
he follows behind you, “is it a communal bathroom?”
“yep!” you push the door open, “hey y/n!” you look to your right, “oh hey!” you walk towards your friend.
“you been avoiding me? i’ve called and texted a bunch! you coming to tomorrows party?”
“oh sorry! i was working on a group project with my-“ he wasn’t your friend… “my classmate.” you pulled him over.
“hello.” megumi blinked.
“but yes i’m going to the party.”
“and do you have any plans?” a girl hollers at megumi.
your eyes sharpen, “he-“
“yes.” he looks at you, picking up your slight annoyance.
why didn’t he just say that earlier before you rambled like an idiot?
“we’re just here to get ready for bed. see ya!” you walked over to the row of sinks.
megumi stands next to you, hovering over one of the sinks.
“here.” you tossed him the toothpaste.
god, are you the only one that feels the tension? you didn’t still like him? you guys don’t know anything about each other.
“you’re staring.” he said as he washed his face.
“was not!” you turned away, scrubbing the face wash into your own face.
“your toothbrush is still in your mouth.” he pointed.
“shut up!” you spat your toothbrush out, cheeks growing red.
megumi stood there, awkwardly waiting for you to finish.
“what?” his smile…no his frown becomes even worse.
“you stalking me?” a girl walks towards him. you recognized the girl—she had always given you dirty looks or pushed past you in the halls with a smirk on her face.
“anora, leave him! fushiguro’s clearly taken.” a guy comes out of a stall and grabs anora’s wrist while shooting megumi a grin.
megumi glances over at you, but says nothing except “let’s go.” and grabbing your wrist.
“see he’s avoiding me? it’s okay to admit your crushing, fushiguro.” anora teases.
megumi drags you out the door, but you pull away.
you peek your head through the door, “can’t you see you make him uncomfortable? i’d say you’re the obsessed one.” you leave before she can even open her mouth to respond.
megumi just blinks, before turning around and walking away.
you walk behind him in silence, “oh megumi! there’s a hello kitty on your shirt.” you point at the hem of the shirt. “i forgot it was there.”
“Oh shit- sorry fushi-“
“y/n, why did you do that?” he interrupts.
so you’re on a first name basis with him?
“uh-“ you kept walking, “because you were uncomfortable…and i don’t really like her.” you snort.
megumi doesn’t say another word—he would get teased from time to time which he didn’t really ever care about…but it felt nice for someone to have his back for once.
but was he really going to fold because you looked out for him once?
you collapsed onto your friend’s bed the second you entered the room. “if you’re cold, i’ve got a blanket in the bin in the corner.” you smile warmly, getting under the covers.
“okay.” he nods, “what time do you wake up?”
“around 8, sometimes 9.” you shift, trying to get comfortable. “you?”
“6.” he responds, “but it says it’ll be raining early in the morning too. so if it’s okay with you-“
“stay as long as you want.” you mumble, voice soft and delicate.
your eyelids slowly fell, breaths evening out.
megumi’s eyes were stuck on you—you look so peaceful. he closed his own eyes, “good night.” he whispers.
You wake up to megumi’s angry murmurs.
“megumi?” you hum, rubbing your eyes.
“sorry.” he mumbles, typing something on his computer.
“it’s fine. whatcha doing?” you roll off your bed.
megumi’s eyebrows quirked up, “why would you do that?”
“to wake myself up.” you giggled, crawling up your own bed. “so?”
“i’ve started on the bibliography since i finished the main notes.”
“stop! you were working? you should’ve woken me up.” you shook his shoulders.
“you were sleeping…so peacefully, so i didn’t want to.” he trained his eyes to the screen.
“aw, megumi. i still feel bad, so don’t do anymore week till friday!” you poke his cheek.
“okay.” he turns his laptop off, sliding it onto your nightstand. he turns to face you, and that’s when you realize just how close you are to him.
your eyes widen slightly, but your body won’t move.
“the rain isn’t too bad, just a sprinkle.” he turns away, cheeks tinting a faint pink.
“oh!” you back away, “are you heading out?”
“yeah, i have my class in a bit.” he stands up. “thank you.” he packs his stuff up.
“y-yeah!” you jump up, “you’re always welcome…here.” you pat him on the back.
he doesn’t say anything, instead he slings his bag over his shoulder—giving you a small, but genuine smile.
heat spread across your face, giving him a big smile back.
you had never seen him smile. why was your heart beating so fast?
“see ya!” you open the bedroom door, holding it open for him.
“bye, y/n.” he waves, walking towards the now working elevators.
you closed the door behind you, “he’s not so bad.” your cheeks began to hurt because you didn’t realize how big your had been smiling.
a day that consisted of boring lectures, more assignments, and high cortisol levels was over.
it was 8 p.m. and you were getting ready for tonights party—probably the last one for the next few weeks if you wanted to pass your mid-terms.
you were scrunching your hair, trying to get your curls to look nice when you heard a knock on the door.
“who is it?” you shouted, walking over to open it. you were met a timid boy standing at your door, “megumi?” this was one of the first times you could read him, you assumed he had the same expression no matter how he felt.
“hey.” he fidgets with his fingers behind his back “i don’t have any plans-“
“you’re coming?” you let out a dramatic gasp.
“no! come in!” you pull him inside.
“is your hair naturally curly? i’ve never seen it like that before.” he slips his shoes off, following behind you.
“yep, it can be a pain in the ass.” you laugh. “wait, my hair got wet yesterday, did you not notice then?”
“i did. but i assumed it was from the braid you had earlier in class.” he stands behind you, eyes wandering over the mess on your desk that consisted of makeup, jewelry, and random nail polish.
he noticed how you had your hair yesterday? you took that braid out half way through class.
“why’d you decide to come?”
“if i stayed home, i would’ve ended up working on the project.” he replies.
“i see.” you apply a soft gloss to your plush lips. “now that you’re here, help me pick out some shoes, no?” you hold your hands together in a gentle plea.
“where are your shoes?” he hums.
“okay, i have these two heels; i haven’t had time to go home and bring more.” you show him the options—a pair of dark blue ones that have strings that wrap around your ankle or a white pair with a higher heel.
“blue. they match you dress and look more comfortable.” he points.
“they do…but i like a higher heel.” you contemplate.
“you won’t last in the white ones. aren’t parties like always crowded? you’ll probably be standing most the time.” he shrugs, “your choice, though.”
“ugh you’re right.” you roll your eyes, plopping onto the bed.
you slip your foot into the heel, wrapping the string around your ankle.
“you go to parties often, right?”
“yeah. i like the ambiance most of the time.” you switch to the other foot.
“are they really that fun?” he tilts his head.
“when you’ve got some alcohol in your system, hell yeah.” you snicker, “do you drink?”
“no.” he shakes his head.
“well you can take a sip here and there, you don’t have to.” you stand up, “what do we think?” you spin.
“you look…nice.” he keeps his eyes on yours.
“thank youuu!” you giggle, picking up your phone from the nightstand. “let’s go!” you grab his wrist, “oh! i almost forgot.” you grab a perfume from off your shelf.
you do a few sprits on your neck and wrists, adding a soft glimmer to your neck and a nice smell. “okay, now i’m ready.” you drag him out, and he lets you.
you walk a few blocks down, following the loud music and bright colorful lights.
“we’re here! stay by me.” you give him a cheeky smile.
you notice more people are staring at you than usual—or more like they were staring at who was with you.
“y/n!” a tall, cocky guy from high school comes up to you. “how the hell did you get fushiguro to come with you?”
you roll your eyes, “move.”
“y’know fushiguro, this one’s a real heart breaker. and she’s kind of a whore-“
megumi’s eyes widen, “what-“
“i literally just got here, jerk. even if i was a whore, i wouldn’t let you tap. that’s what you’re still mad about, huh?” you left a red mark on the side of his face, and your palm was left stinging.
“i didn’t even want you in-“
“y/n- i see the drinks over there.” megumi grabs your shoulders, pushing you forward through the crowd of people.
“fuck you!” you shout back at the guy.
megumi just shakes his head, “are you-“
“i’m fine. shit. he gets on my nerves.” you pick up a red solo cup. “he wanted to have sex when the rumors got out. he’s been an ass since high-”
“the one’s about me being a virgin. couldn’t keep it in his pants once it got to him.” you roll your eyes, chugging the drink down.
“ah.” he looked down at the floor.
“you want some?” you held the cup up to his face.
“try a little bit, if you don’t like it then you’ll have to stay sober i guess.” you lightly laughed.
megumi hesitantly takes the cup from your, fingers brushing yours.
he sips a tiny bit, “it’s fine.” he shrugs.
“well at least you don’t hate it!”
“y/n! hi!” your friend who invited you wraps her arms around you.
“hiii!” you hug back. “this is fushiguro-“ you turn to him and he’s gone.
he just hiding behind the side of the fridge.
“what are you doing?” you mouthed.
he points, and your eyes land on anora.
“what is she doing here? y’know i don’t like her.” you crossed your arms.
“y/n it’s open invite, babe. sorry!”
“whatever.” you exhale, walking towards megumi.
the rest of the night is a blur.
you remember playing beer pong with a few of your friends, taking shots, dragging megumi-
“megumi!” you shoot up from you bed.
“hm?” he turns his face towards you.
he was sitting on the floor besides you with his laptop in his lap.
“you got incredibly drunk. i took you home. and you begged me not to leave, so.” he replies calmly.
“fuck- what time is it?” you rub your eyes.
“when did we come home?”
you gasped, “you haven’t been up this entire time, right?”
“i have. go back to sleep.” he turns back to his screen.
you nod, turning to your side and shutting your eyes.
small flashbacks come to mind,
megumi telling you “that’s enough.” and trying to take the red solo cup from you multiple times throughout the night.
you dragging megumi back to the drink station for the tenth time.
you two walking back home—and megumi carrying you?!
“megumi. did you carry me home?” you flip your body around.
“you kept whining about your feet hurting.” he typed on his computer.
“ah.” you let out a shaky laugh, heart pounding so hard you heard it ringing in your ears.
“good night.” you awkwardly pat his head, turning back around to wallow in your embarrassment.
“good night.” he responds softly.
when you finally woke up, megumi was no longer in your dorm.
“oh my god.” you stretched your arms, yawning loudly. “my head hurts.”
you look on your nightstand—there was a bag of food, a bottle of advil, and a sticky note on your nightstand.
your hand snatched the sticky note up, reading it:
“eat before class, take advil so you’re better for when i come over later.
your cheeks turn crimson red, he’s so thoughtful. does he treat all his…friends? like this?
maybe megumi was your friend now, and that felt nice.
you look at yourself in your small vanity mirror.
you expected to look a mess—but you had no make up on and your hair was in a nice, loose braid.
you let out a disappointed sigh, “he’d never like me like that.”
the rest of the morning was pretty nice.
your classes didn’t seem as bad today.
when you finally got to your last class of the day—megumi was outside the classroom.
“hey, megumi!” you walked up to him.
“hey. are we working at your place today?”
“yup. i think my roommate is on a vacation right now. rich people. she can afford to miss school, i guess.” you tutted, arms crossed against your chest. “you’re smiley.” you pinch his cheek.
“wait no! i was messing with you-“ you panic.
“and i’m messing with you.” he softly chuckles.
“ugh. whatever.” you scrunch your nose.
and that’s how your friendship really started.
months went by; snow fell and melted, flowers bloomed and beamed with the hot summer sun—you had spent more time with megumi and everyone knew you two were really close friends.
you didn’t really know how you two got close, it kind of just happened.
“it’s finally the end of second semester!” you jump up.
“remember our first final? you didn’t sleep for days.” he chuckles, ruffling a hand in your curls.
“oh my god, yes. i almost didn’t pass. not everyone’s a genius like you.”
“well do you feel confident for these finals?-“
“nope. but i’m choosing to be blissfully ignorant.”
his jaw dropped a little, “of course.”
throughout these few months, your crush on megumi only grew, no matter how much you protested against it.
he was one of your bestest friends—if not your best friend. you shouldn’t- you couldn’t feel like this.
you shoved your feelings so far down, they were probably in the pits of hell.
but he took such good care of you.
“so did she drop out?” megumi sits on the floor, besides your bed.
“yep. too late in the year for them to assign me a new roommate.” you chewed on a few kernels of popcorn.
“ah. lucky you.” he shoved a hand in the bucket of popcorn you were holding.
“very.” you smile cutely, eyes glued to the TV.
you were watching some random movie you had mentioned a few weeks ago—but megumi’s eyes would find yours more often than the screen.
“are you comfortable there? come up to the bed.” you scoot over, patting the mattress.
“c’mon megumi.” You give him those big doe eyes, tilting your head to the side just enough to guarantee you get your way.
“fine.” he rolls his eyes, instantly standing up and sitting beside you.
“heh.” you grin, putting your legs over his.
he didn’t say anything, because he really didn’t mind.
when were you going to notice that?
for months, people haven’t known you for just being friends. and megumi knew that. but did you?
he wrapped a hand around your waist, pulling you in closer. you promptly rested your head on his chest. the smell of your honey hair oil you use was one of his favorite smells.
best friends don’t do this.
everyone knew it. but did you?
you dozed off near the end of the movie.
“silly girl.” he shakes his head, turning the TV off and trying to get out of your bed.
“mm, no megumi!” you whined. “stay with me.”
it sounded almost identical to the first time you begged him to stay when he brought you back from that party.
your voice was soft and sweet—and you being whiny just made him even more obsessed.
how could he say no to you?
“only 5 minutes.” he whispered into your hair. “get under the covers first.” he lifts you legs up, dragging your blanket over you.
“thank youuu.” you spoke into his neck.
megumi jutted his bottom lip, feeling shivers up his spine.
your warm breath was just barely grazing over his bare skin, “mhm.” he nods, breaths a bit ragged.
you laid on his chest—looking absolutely angelic.
after a few minutes, you were knocked out.
he tried to slip away, but your grip on him only got tighter.
you weren’t replying, deep in sleep.
he couldn’t wake you up. he wouldn’t try to.
you slowly open your eyes to the bright saturday sun shining through your curtains.
“mmm.” you slowly opened your eyes just to be met with megumi’s gorgeous blue eyes on you.
“yeah.” you nodded, giving him a squeeze.
“good.” he rubs your back.
“sleep next to me more often. you’re comfy.” you giggle, fingers tips walking on his chest.
“oh yeah?” he leans in.
he would’ve kissed you right then and there. the way your curls were spread along the pillow, your body taking all his body heat, leg wrapped around him and your smile—fuck he was going to break.
he was head over heels for you—when would you notice that?
he was fighting the strong urge to smash his lips into your own—plump, shiny, and soft lips.
“you okay?” you mumble.
no, he wasn’t. he wanted to be yours so fucking badly. you liked him too, right? or was he just delusional?
“yeah.” he gives you a reassuring nod.
later that night, you were getting ready for a party. you didn’t even know who was hosting it, you had heard it was open invite and that’s all the information you really needed.
per usual, you were dragging megumi to the party with you.
“oh my gosh. i haven’t of that anora girl in awhile.” you looked over your shoulder as you combed through your curls.
“i heard from her awhile back, but i blocked her. i don’t even know how she got my number.”
“of course. wait! why didn’t you tell me?!” you pouted.
“you never asked.” he shrugs.
“whatever.” you hissed.
you finished with a few spritz of perfume to your neck and wrists. “what do we think?” you flailed your arms to the side.
he stands up, towering over you, “you look” his fingers lock with yours, raising your hand in the air as he spun you, “beautiful.” he flattered.
“thank youuu!” you cooed.
you never moved away from his touch, but you seemed to almost lean into it today.
you lifted your chin up, your body pressing into his.
his gaze was soft, was it like that for you?
his eyes were glued to your lips, watching as they just barely parted.
“megumi.” you breathed, wrapping your arms around his neck, his hands finding your waist.
“yeah?” he leans in, lips just inches away from yours.
“can i- uhm.” your lashes fluttered, looking away. “can i give you a hug?” the corner of your lips curved into an awkward smile, slowly pulling away.
did you just put up another wall between the two of you? again?
megumi’s eyebrows pinched together, wanting to confront you, but he didn’t.
you pull him in, resting you chin on his shoulder.
this wasn’t the first time you had been so flirty.
you had previously been like this with him.
like that time you first kissed him.
the first party you had brought him too before mid-terms, around october, you had gotten drunk as fuck.
you remembered some of it, but you completely forgot the kiss.
megumi didn’t. he couldn’t get it out of his mind.
“you’re almost the same when you’re drunk.” he huffed, finally entering your dorm.
he plops you onto your bed, “can you get changed?”
“mm-mm.” you shake your head, pulling the covers over yourself.
“wait. you still have your shoes on.” he pulls your legs out from the covers—why do i even care?
he untied the strings, unwrapping them and pulling yours heels off.
“thank- hic! youuu.” you chortled.
“go to sleep.” he whispered.
he was about to walk away when he felt your warm hand on him, pulling his wrist.
“don’t- hic! go.” you whined.
“i wasn’t going to. i was going to look for your makeup remover.” he opens your drawer, pulling out micellar water and cotton pads.
“oh. hic! you have a girlfriend?” you pouted, closing your eyes.
“nope. a sister. why?” he turns the bottle around, cotton ball covering the hole, absorbing the liquid.
“that explains it.” you hum. body relaxed as he gently wipes your mascara off.
“mhm.” he threw the used cotton balls in the bin and placed the micellar water back in your nightstand.
“thank youuu.” you lift your head, giving a sweet kiss on the cheek.
heat rose up his neck, completely dumbfounded, “y-yeah.”
he had never liked a girl nor kissed one, much less get kissed by one.
is it normal to feel his heart pounding out of his chest? “go to sleep.” he mumbled.
as you dozed off, his eyes didn’t leave you. he noticed your tangled hair—he gently brushed it out and put it in a nice braid.
he couldn’t really sleep. staying on the floor beside your bed just incase you woke up.
that moment hadn’t left his mind since. it haunted him—but that was okay.
because he didn’t get another moment like that again. you’d always put up a wall when you got too close. why?
did you remember the kiss and feel embarrassed? no. something in his gut told him that wasn’t it. but he was never blunt enough to ask.
“let’s go.” you warmly smiled—the smile he yearned to see whenever you weren’t around.
you and megumi got out of the uber, closing the door and giving the driver a polite nod. you noticed how full the house was already, “shit. maybe we should’ve came earlier.” you bit your lip.
“it’s fine. let’s just see if we can get in.” megumi grabbed your hand, pushing past a crowd of people.
you were able to get inside, and it was even worse than outside.
no one was in the backyard though, maybe because of the big sign that read, “DO NOT OPEN THIS DOOR.”
you squeezed through to reach the drink station.
“i think someone grabbed my ass.” you chuckled, fanning your face with your hand.
“here.” megumi tapped you, putting a red solo cup into your hand.
“what’d you pour?” you swirl the cup gently.
“I don’t know. I just grabbed two random cups.” he shrugs, taking a sip of his cup.
you giggled, drinking from your own cup.
as the night went on, you noticed megumi was drinking more than usual, “you stressed or something? you never drink this much.” you joked, softly hitting his arm.
“no. it just tastes good.” he gives you a lazy smirk. you could tell he was already tipsy.
he could hold his alcohol pretty well, but tonight it seemed like he was pushing it.
“megumi, you wanna lay off the drinks for a minute?” you look at him, concern spreading across your face.
you didn’t know this was how megumi was trying to drown out his feelings. just awhile ago, he was seconds away from breaking the friendship you had built. he didn’t want to just be your friend. but it seemed like you didn’t feel same…or didn’t accept the fact that you did. had he thought too deep about the kiss? about your behavior towards him? why did it not look like you were struggling to not push past the set boundaries?
fuck. was he really just delusional?
you weren’t as touchy tonight after the situation that took place in your dorm. he just wanted his hands on you, but you looked at it like everything he did with you was just normal.
“no.” he grabs another drink, basically chugging it down before you could protest.
“megumi-“ you cupped his face, but he dropped his cup onto the floor. his face flushing crimson red—that you could tell even under the dim lights.
“no.” he grabbed your wrist, unlocking the back door.
“we can’t go there-“
megumi opens the door, dragging you to the backyard before slamming it shut.
“what is with you, megumi? are you okay-“
and he couldn’t keep lying. he didn’t want to.
“no. i’m not okay, y/n.” he shouts.
you blink, a bit startled. “what’s wrong?”
“every man that walks by you can’t seem to keep their eyes off you. and i’m guilty to that!”
you were so confused, “i don’t underst-“
“fuck.” he wipes his face. “i don’t think i’m a very social person. i don’t talk to anyone besides you. i don’t hangout with anyone besides you. i don’t take care of anyone besides you. i don’t tolerate anyone else besides you.”
“i- uhm. megumi you’re drunk. we should just head-“
“why are you trying to dismiss what i’m saying?” his voice cracked.
why were you? you didn’t want to believe it, because if you did…you’d lose control of all the feelings you pushed to the side.
“i’m not. i- i just think you’re not in the best state of mind right now.” you stammered.
“what does everything i just told you mean to you?”
you hesitated, “that i’m your friend…a-and that you care about me.”
“do you think that’s normal for me?” he spits out.
“i…i don’t know.” but you did.
“y/n. tell me this. have you not seen me as more than a friend?”
your face turns red, you want to say yes, so why won’t it come out your mouth?
your silence shatters him completely. “fuck! can’t you see it, y/n?” his eyes tear up, “i’m in love with you! and i’ve been in love with you!”
why were you so stubborn?
he was drunk. did he really mean it? drunk words are sober thoughts, no?
“if you’ve never felt even a hint of anything friends shouldn’t feel, then just tell me! if i’ve been a delusional fucker, tell-“
seeing him like this made you break. you couldn’t resist what you’ve been wanting anymore.
your lips crash into his own, moving feverishly against his as you wrapped your arms around him.
he arms found your waist, pulling you up against his body wanting you as close to him as possible as he had dreamed for months.
“i love you, megumi.” you spoke in between kisses, breathless.
megumi broke the kiss, pressing his forehead to yours. his eyes ditzy as he panted against you. “i love you, y/n.”
he drunkenly linked his wet lips with yours again as he desperately kissed you. absolutely giddy and enamored with you.
“let’s go.” you pulled away, hurrying back home with him.
weeks went by and megumi was able to shower you with love as he had always wanted to.
even though finals were approaching, he made the time to drop by and help you study, quiz you, bring you comfort foods during late nights, and sleep next to you at 4 a.m.
he hadn’t really made another move on you since the kiss. yeah, he’d kiss you on the cheek and occasionally on the lips anytime he’d see you. but you still would overthink.
you made it out of your last final, exhausted as fuck. you were about to walk out the main building doors but noticed the strong pour and dark clouds.
“fuck.” you huffed, sinking down to the floor.
you didn’t have an umbrella and your dorm was somewhat far. you’d just have to wait until the rain settled.
about 20 minutes go by, but it felt more like 3 hours as you skimmed a random book that was in your bag.
“baby?” a familiar voice registers.
“oh, my love.” you stand up, wrapping your arms around megumi.
“i’ve been waiting for you for 20 minutes? i was going to come look for you because i thought your final wasn’t over.” he wrapped his free arm around your waist. “why weren’t you replying to my message then?”
“shit. i was so zoned out i didn’t notice the ringing in my bag.” you apologize.
“it’s okay. c’mon, we’re going to my place today.” he wrapped his fingers around yours.
“really?” now that you thought about it, you had never been to his place—you might’ve asked about it but he said he lived 30 minutes from campus, which would explain why you had never seen him much before you became friends.
“i don’t have an umbrella.” you groaned.
“i do. my car is nearby and then i’ll drive you there.” he opens the umbrella, opening and holding the door for you.
he’s awfully silent, and he almost seemed nervous. but you didn’t pay much mind to it.
you comaplained in the car about your last final, “i flunked. fuck. my gpa is so fucked.” you say into your palm.
“no you didn’t.” he reached for your hand, “or that’ll mean i failed as your teacher.”
you giggle, “welp. at least it’s over.”
“yeah.” he nods, pulling into the driveway of his house.
“holy shit.” your jaw drops. “this is your house?”
“technically it’s under my god father’s name, but he was nice enough to gift it to me since he’s not here too often.” he turns the ignition off.
you got out of the car, mesmerized by the mansion in front of you. “you’re life is very private.” you laugh seeing the gates close.
you both walk in through the massive double doors, and the interior is even more gorgeous. “you’re house is beautiful.” you slip your shoes off.
“thanks.” he smiles, bringing you towards the dining room—which had a wood table that could seat a village and a lovely marble floor underneath. “sit. i’ll be back.”
you look around and notice the pictures on the walls. you stand up to take a better look. a lot of them were of megumi and a girl whom you assumed was his sister.
one picture in particular caught your eye.
what looked like baby megumi and a white haired man with hypnotizing blue eyes had little stickers all over their faces with the same brown haired girl from all the previous pictures was was in the middle, pinching their cheeks.
you giggled, “such a cute baby.”
“hey, i want to show you something. sit.” he pulls a chair out for you.
“who are they?” you point at the picture.
“my sister, tsumiki, and my god father, satoru.”
“they look nice!” you smile, sitting down.
you had been so distracted, you didn’t even realize megumi was holding something behind his back.
“y/n. i like you a lot. i love spending time with you and being by your side.” his thumb rubs gentle circles over your palm. “may i be your boyfriend?” he pulls out a boquet of small roses with a box in the center.
your face feels so red and hot, you think you might explode. how were you so blind for so long?
“i didn’t ask before finals incase you’d get distracted, because i wanted to ages ago.” he opened the box, revealing a delicate gold necklace that a small, but noticable “m” charm.
“yes. i would love it if you were my boyfriend.” you cheesed, so over the moon.
“oh thank god. i was a bit nervous.” he blushes, standing up to wrap the fine piece of jewelry around your neck. “i’m already wearing mine.” he peeked it out of his sweatshirt– the same style, just in silver and with your initial in the middle.
“i love you, y/n.” he swooned, pressing his soft lips into yours.
you could see it now– all the love megumi had for you.
“i love you, megumi.”
“i have strawberry cake in the fridge. i’ll be right back.” he smiles.
