I find it so sad how reo thought the only thing he needed to get fired up again was nagi’s words of affirmation, which he never received before. Even during nagi’s elimination reo blamed himself, remembering the only words he used to hear from nagi regarding soccer (and most things in his life) was “what a pain”.
This only made the insecurity stronger from seeing him having “actual” fun playing soccer with other people like Isagi, he never got that validation.

I saw someone post about how they’re already uninterested in blue lock but still read it for ships like nagireo, and honestly that’s so real. Like, I don’t even do it in a “I need them to be a couple” type of way, but because their dynamic is so interesting to me. Mainly because of their codependency. That makes it so easy for me to relate the pairing to many aspects of my relationships throughout my life between family members, friends, etc. I think they are such a good representation of codependency that even if it isn’t in a romantic way, it’s still a complex dynamic in which many can relate to.
Of course there’s still people who think acknowledging this waters down the characters to only their “shipping”, but they need to keep in mind that this dependency between the characters is what has affected the plot the most, with nagi’s elimination and reo’s arc being about playing futbol independent from nagi. It’s a big part of their characters and their flaws :>
