Viola Davis Explains How ABC Allowed Her To Film 'Suicide Squad': Viola Davis is Amanda Waller in Suicide Squad, but how did she land the role of a lifetime, as some would put it? As we all should know by now, Viola Davis is one of the main characters on the ABC TV show How To Get Away With Murder. The show would have gotten in the way of filming her parts in Suicide Squad, but ABC president Paul Lee made things work out for the actress. It's quite interesting because ABC is owned by Disney, which is also the owner of Marvel Studios. Warner Bros., with its DC Extended Universe, will no doubt compete with what Marvel Studios, under the wings of Disney, has already established. "They were totally willing to work it out. I'd never seen anything like it. Paul Lee came up to me and said, 'Oh, I want you to have everything.' Who does that? I was very lucky," said Davis in an interview with SlashFilm. When it comes down to what fans can expect from Suicide Squad, well, the plan is to humanize the characters, something we haven't seen much in superhero movies. "I mean, you saw the trailer so the trailer very much, what you see is these superheroes have been humanized. That's what makes this kind of a different superhero movie," Davis said. We have to wonder, though, if Davis was to appear in a 20th Century Fox film based on a Marvel character, would ABC have allowed her the free time she needed? At the end of the day, this move could work out well in the favor of ABC. If Suicide Squad turns out to be a hit, then it means more folks would get to know who Viola Davis is, and they might want to watch more of her. How To Get Away With Murder could benefit greatly from this.

Margot Robbie gives Suicide Squad director a tattoo as co-stars Will Smith and Jai Courtney join in with the same design: Taking a break from the set of Suicide Squad on Monday, Australian actress Margot Robbie decided to step into a new role as a tattoo artist. The 25-year-old former Neighbours star spent her break etching an inked design onto the film's director David Ayer's arm, a snap of the moment shared on Instagram by her co-star Joel Kinnaman. Playing Harley Quinn in the comic book film adaptation, it made sense for Margot to do the inking at the appropriately-named Harley's Tattoo Parlour. Dressed in her character's signature attire, the film star appeared to be very focused as she worked the tattoo equipment. The black inked design read 'Skwad', and given the group's closeness, it only made sense for other cast members to jump onto the tattoo bandwagon.

David Ayer shaved Jai Courtney himself for ‘Suicide Squad’: There’s no denying that Jai Courtney has an interesting beard for his role as Captain Boomerang in Suicide Squad, but how he got that beard is even more interesting. While speaking to HitFix about his new movie Terminator Genysis, Courtney was asked about his new beard. Courtney explained that the beard wasn’t his idea, and that Suicide Squad director David Ayer personally shaved it for him. “David Ayer came into the makeup room and just picked up the clippers and started shaving me,” he explained.

The cast of 'Suicide Squad' has an on-set therapist for when things get too real: For the sake of his all-star cast — which includes Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Leto — Ayer keeps the “therapist,” who Beach says is really a “life coach,” around the set to ensure that the actors’ internal torment doesn’t go too far. “There’s a friend of [Ayer’s] that’s very unique in making sure we have our ground,” Beach said. “Us actors explore very fine thin lines going to the dark side and he wants to make sure we finish a movie and don’t disappear somewhere and then don’t show up for work.”
