Tommy squeezed Pony’s hand with as much strength as he could muster, reaching over with his other to cover the top of Pony’s hand, so it was clasped between his own. “It’s okay,” he said quietly. “It’s okay.”

He knew it wasn’t, not really–not with the “Rat King” and the “Princes” gone, not with people starting to panic in the desert–but he offered the words anyway, some kind of comfort. He was still there, still kicking, and Pony was allowed to be hurting, was allowed to grieve.

Pony allowed himself to bask in that small gesture of comfort for just a moment longer, before he sniffled loudly, yanking his hand free to wipe messily at his face. “... It’s not,” he finally huffed out. “But whatever. It’s not important right now.”
