Sorry for the inactivity, but I have a very important announcement to make! I am going to be moving Lily as well as some of my other muses (and some new ones I’m equal parts excited & nervous to be playing) onto my new multimuse @deathmaiidens so please follow me there! :)
spotify wrapped has arrived. send me a number from 1-100 for a starter based on that song, or a lyric from it, or send a 🎁 for me to shuffle.

Victoria smiled brightly as she watched her daughter play. “Oh my goodness, little one. You have a gift!” She praised. Victoria wasn’t in the slightest bothered by the noises that the piano was making. She was used to it, knowing that Lily was truly just beginning, and then of course, her own skillset was rather lackluster in terms of ability.
“Come on, try again.”
The baby laughed delightedly at her mother’s praise. Lily wasn’t exactly sure what she meant by ‘gift’, but was always happy to make her happy in any little way. Her first instinct on being instructed to try again was to play softer and slower. Something that reminded her of Mamma. She plunked at a few random notes that sounded much more pleasant together.
After she finished, she tugged gently at Mamma’s lace-trimmed sleeve. “Ma play now.”
thevalicemultiverse:
“Thank you,” Victor says – before blinking as she continues. “Uh…well, some grown-ups get in trouble for swearing, at least in the wrong places,” he says, rubbing the back of his head. “It’s more – people tend to judge children more when they swear. Them and their parents. Even if it’s justified.”
He shakes his head as well. “I see…well, I can talk to her, say that you’re going to give it back soon and she can wait a bit.” With a little smile, he adds, “Should I also get your mother so she can help you with it?”
“But why?” Lily scrunches up her face in bewilderment. At the mention of ‘their parents’, she softens a little. “I mean, I don’t want anyone to judge you -- or Mamma. Or Mummy. Or Alice.”
“Okay, Daddy.” The eight-year-old is all sugar once more as she stands on her tiptoes to give her father a kiss on the cheek. “Would you tell her I’m sorry -- about what I said, I mean? And I’ll give it back really really soon.”
She nods at the suggestion with a bigger smile of her own. “Yes, I’d like that very much!” Mamma always knows just what to do with hair (at least more than Lily does given how neat her hair buns are -- never a strand out of place!).

maybe a little distasteful but hopefully somewhat entertaining???
*Lily is just laughing hysterically at whatever this monstrosity of a meme is*
[Victor, for his part, is just – staring. In bafflement. After a moment, he speaks] Do – do I just not have a sense of humor anymore, or…
[It takes a moment for Lily to calm herself enough to form coherent words.] It’s just the -- the face and the fact that that’s it’s name, too! [She clears her throat after what she hopes will be her last fit of giggles to explain.] It’s so stupid, but that’s what makes it so funny! And your face, too...[Her father’s confused face sends her yet again.]
KIRSTEN DUNST as AMY MARCH in LITTLE WOMEN (1994)
outrageous-spectacle:
“Thank you,” Mae replied, a little stiffly as she wasn’t expecting the compliment. “Nice to know that the product looks good.” She winced as she realised her mistake but hoped the girl hadn’t noticed.
She was relieved at the girl’s innocence, and latched onto her excuse. “Yes! They’re a rather rowdy crowd as you can hear but they’re just leaving.”
Mae made her way through the maze of plants so she was on the opposite side of the fence.
“You think so? That would be nice, although I doubt my cliente - friends would be interested in something so graceful.”
So instead Mae imagined herself and Jack out in the garden, their brand new Persian rug as a makeshift picnic blanket. The two of them dressed in white and he doesn’t make a comment about how dumb her large hat looks. Him feeding her finger sandwiches with the crusts cut off as she playfully bats his arm and his smile doesn’t drop and turn into a look of annoyance. The two of them lying on the floor, cloud-watching in the day and stargazing at night, talking, she’d let Jack talk mostly as he hated when she talked too much, he said she had more static than the radio or just enjoying each other’s company. Like the good times.
“I would like that very much.”
There was a sadness to Mae’s smile. She would love to get to know some new people and this girl certainly was sweet, but she knew the girl’s parents would turn down the idea, probably teach her a string of snide insults she was too young to fully understand. Moll, junkie, spinster, and those were the nicer ones.
She was going to ask the girl where “back home” was, but decided that was probably too personal and that she should start with the basics.
“What’s your name?”
“Sounds like my Daddy’s old friends.” Lily smiles wryly. Of course, she doesn’t mention that said ‘old friends’ were a bunch of walking skeletons and corpses. Now, she wonders if they ever had garden parties or even gardens at all in the Land of the Dead. She supposes she’ll have to ask him before bedtime or maybe even Godmother if she’s able to slip through the veil and see her in her dreams tonight.
“I’m Lily,” the girl says simply, not feeling very much like giving away her full name on this lazy Sunday afternoon. “It’s nice to meet you. Are you a florist?”
She’s caught the mention of ‘product’, but of course, would never imagine it’s anything nefarious. She does, however, get the feeling that the woman is rather lonely and unhappy in spite of her wild parties and the array of plant life in her backyard. Perhaps they might be friends or at the very least, Lily could find some way to cheer her up before she has to leave.
blackbirdmuses:
“The ghosts who haunt the pumpkins and Behemoth who grows them!” she explained, skipping along beside her new friend as she led her through the creaking iron gates and into the Pumpkin Patch. “Nice to meet you, Lily! Your name is pretty, too.”
“Ohh, okay!” Lily exclaimed as if ghosts haunting pumpkins and strange creatures were the most natural things in the world. As they approached the gates, she marveled at the architecture and wondered if it was as weirdly wonderful in the Land of the Dead, too.
She ran into the pumpkin patch and was surprised to see that most had sprung from the ground with all sorts of strange faces and candles already carved into them. “Alright, ghosts --- ghosts?” She looked around, expecting them to materialize around the patch rather than inside of the pumpkins.

“Sorry, Daddy,” Lily says, her tone softening and lips curling up into the cutest little puppy dog pout. Only for a moment though. “But it’s what she is! How come grown-ups can swear but I can’t? If it’s bad, shouldn’t it be bad either way?”
She shakes her head, trying to stay on topic. “She said I could have it, but now I think she regrets it, but that’s not my fault! I was going to give it back anyway.” After she gets perfect ringlets which of course, is a bit of a feat given how thin her hair is.

“Did your mom make you wear that?”
Lily sure one looked like she belonged in the Pink Palace, that was for sure. The faded, baby pink shutters that she stands next to match the girl’s hair bow and Coraline has half the mind to ask if she planned it that way. Curiously, she eyes Lily, stopping at her feet.
“You wanna go play outside in that get up - don’t you have galoshes or annnnything?” A hand is held up to the door knob, pulling on it, twisting it this way and that. “Come in, you can borrow my old boots.” / @sugarpapillon
Lily shakes her head, a little offended at the idea. "Of course not! My mum lets me pick my own clothes." If her mum did pick her outfit out, it would probably be something as classically pretty, but undoubtedly more practical than the frilly party dress Lily's made a habit of wearing on less-than-special occasions. Her ever-indulgent parents don't seem to mind as long as she keeps it clean and away from school where they just won't understand. Hew new playmate with her blue jeans and galoshes doesn't seem to understand either, but at least she's more polite about it than others would be.
“I do have lace-up boots and some sneakers, but I didn’t think they’d go as nicely with this.” She looks down at her plain pink ballet flats, for once glad that she didn’t go with the usual beribboned patent leather pair she wore with this dress. “Oh, really? Thanks!” Lily follows her into the lovely little apartment building with a broad smile. Maybe this won’t be so bad after all!
@sugarpapillon gets a starter
“Come here, little one. Let me show you how to play the keys so you can sing along to the melody.” Victoria suggested with a little oof as the woman picked her daughter up to settle her down on the piano bench.
Lily beamed as she was lifted into the air by her mother’s gentle (and surprisingly strong for her petite frame) hands and then onto the large bench. Usually, it was Daddy or Mummy who sat at the piano and could make the most wonderful music for what seemed like hours to the two-year-old, but Mamma was learning so beautifully. Lily even liked listening to her softer melodies better some afternoons as she blinked away the sunlight seeping in through the lace curtains and settled in for her nap.
Before Victoria could even begin to instruct her, stubby fingers banged on the higher keys to make a sound like the tinkling of a (rather out-of-tune) music box. Lily giggled mischievously, proud of her messy little masterpiece.
