Swallowing glass, on the other hand…”  Butcher’s jaw tensed. His eyes flicked to her bare legs, then shot back up like they’d touched fire. “Sixteen’s a bit young to start offin’ yourself slow, don’t ya think?” he grunted. “How old were you when you first punched your liver in the dick with scotch, Butch’?” Jennie giggled, letting the smoke flow from her parted lips to the air, cracking one eye open and staring at him. ----------------------------------------------------

Frenchie chuckled, shaking his head, “You looked directly out of a horror movie, ma belle. I wasn’t going to be the first one to go. This is for the boring characters, non?”  He paused, leaning closer. His calloused hand moved to her cheek, his thumb gently wiping away the dried blood from her nose. His voice dropped to a lower, almost teasing tone. “You’re quite a mess, aren’t you?”  They stared at each other for some seconds, her blue eyes finally meeting his dark brown. Jennie bit her lower lip, where his hand was so close it made it tingle, hugging her knees to her chest, her voice barely a whisper, “You have no fucking idea how many times I heard this…”
