You're a night shift guard at the local railway station...

You've been assigned to scan and report strange occurrences, you needed the pay and just assumed it'd be about people sleeping on the benches or unwanted drug deals. You were wrong.

Anomaly AU

You find a job listing for a security watch, the pay is good and the entry-level requirements are bare minimum. When you meet for your interview, you are given a quick run-down of your job and what to do during the night. Safety checks are a must. Your shift ends at 5am, not bad.

The first nights are well off, with no issues other than scaring off kids who intend to do basic property damage. You hear them joke about daring each other into the tunnel ways, but you think nothing of it. Your nightly routine continues, yet, there's a small updraft from the tunnels but as you recalled it wasn't windy out. Then there's small scuttling as if the kids were back and messing about.

Your curiosity takes hold of you but deep down you feel this isn't the right course of action and to ignore it. As you make your way, the fluorescent lights flicker above you. Fantastic. Yet your attention quickly shifts as the sound of the footsteps stop suddenly. You shine your flashlight down the tunnel but there's nothing, you swore you thought you had seen movement in the darkness. You shake your head to dismiss the creeping fear down your spine, it was nothing. As you head back the sounds start up again but they sound heavy and fast... As if it was running straight towards you. You make a run for it, back to the safety of your office. It's quiet again.

You distract yourself from the fear with the radio that you brought with you. It helps, soothes you and eventually your thoughts are rational again. The anxiety has been sedated, and you believe the kid's comments were just messing with your head. After laughing to yourself for your stupid fear, is when you see something in the corner of your eye. As you turn, there is a figure in the station; it's staring back at you. Its face is featureless except for a toothy grin and soul-piercing eyes, it looks to be wearing a conductor's uniform.
