Art school, severe burnout, and back-to-back medical issues. I am likely to have a surgery soon, if that sates your curiosity.

Even my regular art blog doesn't get much update.

Even if I did start doing this again, I'd just reboot the whole thing because the format feels all wrong to me at this point, now that I've studied storyboarding and story flow as part of art school.

I did say the hiatus was "indefinite."

Honestly, I'd been thinking about this AU a lot lately, and what I might do with it. I'm now at the point where SU doesn't make me feel sick anymore.

I had a similar (but much worse) problem with Invader Zim much earlier on in life, and I think that if I can go back to referencing IZ with a smile, I can do the same with SU some day, you know?

Plus, I made a lot of friends when I was working on this. Some of my happiest memories were with SU groups. It would be nice to revisit that, especially now that a lot of us are older and probably more mature.

It's archived, as Grey AU is, at the very least, not one of my current projects. I had a bunch of unfinished stuff I was doing for this, like a collaboration fusion with Chekov, but in my computer dying a horrible death I haven't managed to restore all those files yet. Other stuff has been up, too, and as of late I've found myself resenting SU as a whole. If anything, it's going to be some time before I can make myself get back to this.

I appreciate this question. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy. Thank you for asking this.

On my mind at time of writing for which I need funds:

There are positives and negatives to everything.

What I want to know is would that be the same if Steven was a girl? Or would they still be under the capshell? Again, sorry about the weird question but it’s been burning at the back of my mind for a while now.

Since we're talking about this scientifically and you aren't really making it weird, sure, let's talk about this.

They're still under the cap-shell. They still have no functional use. I don't think Nora is fertile, since she has no means of egg development due to the circumstances of her birth, and she does not have the morphing capability to fuse a sperm with herself to morph into half of a new being, either.

Most real-life animal hybrids are incapable of reproduction. This is not true of all hybrid species, but it's true of most of them. The only ones that can tend to be incredibly closely related, such as ligers and tigons. Steven is not a hybrid of two closely related species by any stretch of the imagination, as he isn't even a fusion of two animals in canon, nor in the Grey AU. As such, most iterations of Steven in any case generally probably should be infertile. However, you likely could make an argument about his ability to produce children as a male, seeing as he would not need to pass on his simulated, nonexistent, or otherwise dubiously functional mitochondria to a child. Regardless, that biology would be so messed up in function that a child that somehow was born would likely need a lot of assistance to survive, especially seeing as Rose planned Steven out incredibly carefully, at least in this AU.

The way Steven's body shifts is by moving his hyphae, which completely and entirely replace his bones. Note that I specify "bones" and not "skeleton." Except for his mitochondria and blood cells, for the most part, the rest of his body is entirely and completely human with no extra powers whatsoever.

Steven has incomplete human skin. It's fragile and not very resistant to much of anything. His outer shell is malleable, but it's a defense from external stuff, not internal stuff.

Moving his hyphae to morph will allow him to shapeshift as much as his skin, muscles, tendons, and so on might naturally stretch. That's it. Otherwise, things begin to tear.

In other words, he tries to morph? His muscles rip apart, his skin might open up, tendons might tear, and all in all it's just incredibly painful and a great way to lose a lot of blood real fast.

Physically? Working on that

Emotionally? Also working on that

Living status? Dubious

That said, I have been working and trying to make ends meet. I have about three or four side-jobs that collectively sorta make a singular main job. It'd be a lot easier if I had a more reliable source of income.

Most of the stuff I have been posting (other than, y'know, the usual Tumblr social media reblogging and such, I'm talking art and original content) is on my art blog ( @arguablyartworks ).

Otherwise, one of my side jobs that's finally starting to trickle in a bit of cash is my Twitch channel (weekends 2 pm pacific, Saturdays games, Sundays art show), partially meant to be an advertisement for my commissions, which has sorta worked? A little?

One of those side jobs is also the return of SU Revived (@su-revived ), as Mod Joe actually does pay me to do editing and occasionally artwork for him for that and his other project.

Beyond that, there have been tons of health issues lately in my family. I won't go into detail, but I'm very drained because of it.

That's a good question.

The issue is that I would feel pressured to decide on weapons different from those other AUs have given them. And I'm particularly influenced in my idea of what his weapons would be by those AUs.

[not influenced by another AU afaik] Uhhhhh I think maybe gauntlets or brass knuckle type things for Yellow Steeb? Or possibly a hammer? Something smacky and mostly blunt. Definitely not a bat, though. He's more elegant than that. If I have to choose one, probably the hammer, because I'm biased.

[influenced by the Blue Steven with a scarf, avoiding crossbow] For Blue Steeb, probably either water itself, emotional stuff, or something grabby or ranged. Possibly more nunchuck-y? If I had to choose now, it'd be a cat-o-nine-tails, I think, utilized more for capture than anything else.
