Perhaps this is a rather shoddy picture of a recent project that I've done but it illustrates just how I've taken the philosophy of 'make do and mend' to heart. I have had this cardigan for about five years now and I've worn it well over the years. Over the summer several holes appeared along the collar of the cardigan. It is already quite worn and not really fit for public viewing, yet for the most part it's still holding up quite well. Therefore I didn't see the point in chucking it away, it's still got life in it! I wanted to practice my hand-stiching when I mended these holes so I thought I would use brightly colored thread to add a bit of fun to the cardigan. I plan on wearing it around the house when I need something light to keep me warm therefore I didn't bother hiding the stitches. It's even simple projects like this that can embody that old wartime philosophy, so dears, why don't you, "make do and mend?"
