Louisiana is experiencing the worst flooding in the history of the state.

Over 7,000 people have been rescued and over 5,000 people are in shelters unable to return to their homes. In addition, over 1,000 drivers are stranded on Interstate 12 between Baton Rouge and Slidell, who today received supplies flown in via helicopter. AT&T service has been down throughout the Baton Rouge metro area. One of my former professors told me he’s been living in Louisiana for 44 years, and has never witnessed flooding this severe.

In Denham Springs (about 10 miles from Baton Rouge), the Amite river is currently at 46′ and rising. Flood stage for the river starts at 29′. 

This is bad, really bad. Places that only flood once every 500 years are flooding. Unfortunately, these are also places where people don’t have flood insurance because they don’t live in a flood plain.

There was no warning for this, at least with hurricanes we can see them coming and have time to prepare or evacuate.

The United Nations say this marks one of the highest weekly death tolls since the migrant crisis began in 2014.UNICEF says many of the victims were youth fleeing war and violence in their home countries.

Korryn Gaines was NOT using her child as a shield.

She was scared to lose him. She was trying to protect him. Because cops don’t care if the victim is 5, 23 or 50 years old just as long as they are Black.

How come a SWAT team in bullet proof vests couldn’t disarm a tiny woman without killing her when they successfully managed to disarm this guy ⇓ ⇓ ⇓ ⇓

Mercury News just majorly messed up by replacing the first gold-winning Black woman swimmer Simone Manuel’s name with “African-American”. They later apologized for not using her name (”We apologize for an insensitive headline earlier on a story about Simone Manuel and Michael Phelps’ medal wins.”) and changed the headline to “Stanford’s Simone Manuel shares historic night with Michael Phelps” still putting Simone’s historic win in the same article with Michael Phelps as if she doesn’t deserve her own story. 

Result:  27 militants disarmed, arrested and indicted. 1 shot for resisting arrest.

23-year-old Korryn Gaines wanted for traffic violations killed by SWAT team after 6-hour-long standoff. Gaines’ 5-year-old child shot in the limb.

Walker, North Tonawanda’s only black firefighter, received the letter at his home on Monday, and reported the threatening note to his supervisor at the fire station.

It includes the “N-word” and says “N-word are not allowed to be firefighters” and “no one wants you in this city.”

“Resigning from the fire department would obviously please them, and I don’t want to please them,” Walker told. “At the same time I am going to do what I have to do to protect my family. I am still going to live my life.”

Video posted on Facebook shows four police officers standing behind the police car. A few seconds later they open fire at a man, who was not posing a threat to them. Police claimed that  Javier Garcia Gaona had “lunged” at them with the knife and they feared for their life, however multiple witnesses of the scene say police lies.

Police decided not to release the bodycam footage, which shows the importance of teh videos taken by the witnesses. Thanks to James Jepsen who passed the video he recorded to the reporter who posted it to facebook.
