How do you look good but still stay warm when you ride in the winter? (no answer...I think she had earbuds in.) Style rider on Flushing ave.
"I got this skateboard in Hawaii. It was pink and I painted it gold." This girl made me throw on the breaks. Covered head to toe in white, she looked like a snowflake on wheels. Style skater in prospect park.
"I got the coat from a thrift store. I'm in the vintage sales business so I know what to look for." Bonus points for inadvertently posing in front of one of my favorite buildings, the 55 fire station in soho.
Slim pickins for style riders during these cold dark days. But I'll shoot em when I can. Bonus points for uggs and sweatpants for the cozy win.

Not on wheels, but check out these kool kats, jus' doin that work thang in soho.
He was riding and carrying a skateboard. I mentioned that he had a different look than other skaters, who prefer more of a grunge style. "When I started it was 100% punk rock. Now it's gotten so mainstream you see every single style out there. Go to Williamsburg - I can't tell if someone is a real skater or just rocking the skater look." Style rider/skater on Broome st.
I saw this guy almost everyday riding up the Williamsburg bridge - FAST. I mean, faster than most bikers. I've always wanted to shoot him, and finally got the chance when I saw him at rest on the other side. He's got quite the story. Literally, he wrote a book about it. He had a major, major drinking problem back in the day, resulting in multiple DUIs and culminating in a car accident that rendered him paralyzed. He quit drinking and dedicated his life to helping others fight alcoholism, and also became a championship marathoner in the wheelchair division. He won the New York Marathon 3 times, and as you can see is in pretty good shape for a 65 year old. Bonus points for that FDNY hat.
"This raincoat is Swedish, but I am French." I love this 'throwback' raincoat style - it's a big shift away from those highly technical REI jackets that are designed less for a commute and more for a weeklong trek in the Adirondaks, These look great and do the one thing they need to do - keep you dry. Bonus points for the boots. I must say, those terrible rubber rainboots that women started wearing a few years back have come a long way in the last 3 years. Style rider in Williamsburg.
"Everyone was asking me if I'm Cliff Huxtable for Halloween." This Brit's jumper caught my eye because it reminded me of a Twin Peaks sweater. He was going VERY fast - I tracked him down all the way from the beginning of the Williamsburg bridge and didn't catch him until a stop light on Broadway. Style Rider on Broadway

He was Frank (from the Michael Fassbender movie.) Happy Halloween Style Riders!
"What do I have on that's meaningful to me? I don't know. What about you?" I said my watch, which I got from my grandfather :-/ Style rider on Broome st.
You wearing those orange shoes for Halloween? "Yeah man." I saw him zipping down Duane St. Seriously, he must have been going 20 mph. He was wearing all black except for those neon shoes. He looked tough but had the most disarming smile I've ever seen. Style roller on Duane st.
Not on wheels, but this image was just too perfect not to capture. The animation is true-to-moment: he was standing on the sidewalk, continuously looking left and right.
In the moment on the Williamsburg Bridge Bike Repair outpost.

Where did you get those shades? "ACME Studios." Bonus points for being an Aussie. I think. Style rider on Bedford ave.
Remember Giselle? I saw her AGAIN today, wearing an even more fabulous outfit, that ALSO matched the Citibike blue! This amazing satin cape was flapping beautifully on her way down the bridge; when I approached her we had a "oh it's you again!" moment. I hope we have more. Here's the story of the cape: "I found it in a vintage market and fell in love with it right away, but it was pretty expensive. The girl lowed the price a bit for me. It's a hard item to wear, it's from the 50's, in very good condition, but it's silk so I can't use it when it's raining. It doesn't go with all the clothes, so I wear it less than I'd like."
