Like what gets me about that post is that it’s indicative of a larger problem in this fandom, especially when it comes to this particular storyline–in that, a large portion of this fandom does not understand the separation and the difference between Kate and Amaru, and seem not to grasp that Kate is currently suffering without a voice and lacks bodily autonomy. Which I think is, in part, the fault of the show for not presenting visually a clear line between where Kate ends and Amaru begins. 

We haven’t seen Kate thus far this season (like I assume that was her biting her wrists and trying to warn people by writing Amaru on the wall, but that’s never confirmed–and say what you will about Madison’s acting, but they have not given her the space the story yet to actively show that Kate is fighting back inside; the only line we have is Kate “yearning” for Scott that gives us any clue as to Kate having any sort of feeling at all) and ultimately, it’s not an example of strong writing on the part of the writers–there’s an emotional disconnect when we as an audience don’t get to see Kate, thus I think it’s hard for people to get that it’s not dark!Kate but an entity possessing and invading and controlling Kate’s body. 

But I think it’s also brought about the fact that so much of the fandom is focused on Seth’s feelings and Seth’s feelings alone. Like there’s so much emphasis placed oh Seth being in love with kate, and Seth wanting to save Kate, yet I have yet to see anyone asking “what about Kate? what is Kate feeling?” beyond some posts trying to appropriate her feelings for Scott and assume she must feel something special for Seth when she looks at him, though–again–the narrative has said nothing either way. Kate is the one suffering and being traumatized at the moment and will not come out of this the same person she was or, more than likely, wholly intact as a person–yet everyone’s thoughts are centered around how this affects Seth and how Seth feels about Kate’s possession which is just a breeding ground for not seeing Kate as a person who is currently being violated, but an object and a symbol to project upon, thus it’s frighteningly easy to be pretty cavalier about what is done to her body if you’ve already dehumanized her.

you’re right. we definitely don’t understand the storyline. we definitely don’t know it’s really Kate .  It’s not like Madie has said it several times, and the show hasn’t made it clear

but ya know we’re sethkate shippers so we’re the demons who hate Kate and just want her to fuck an older man and lose her childhood. It’s not like we’re jus happy that Seth is showing care for Kate, someone FINALLY is, someone FINALLY wants to fight for her 

we who make Kate graphics, write meta and fics, who praise Madie constantly for her performance as Kate Fuller, are fake Kate fans. we are cheering for her suffering, not just enjoying Madie’s amazing performance as this new character, while we do acknowledge Kate is suffering and we want Kate to be saved 

manola is the one who takes her to parks at night bc she knows a guy that knows a guy and they can turn on the bumper cars and manola is the one that drives kisa in circles until she’s breathless- she doesn’t know why because she’s been in cars before but there’s something different about this and when they come back another night, a saturday when there’s people, and they’re shuttled between other drivers and pushed from side to side kisa is the one that starts laughing until her stomach hurts and kisa is the one that remembers richard saying, once, something about those horrifying plush dolls being romantic so if she cheats at water guns and wins one for her girlfriend (her girlfriend!) then that’s just how it is. why is it a fox, though

manola is the one that smokes cigarettes just like richard did but more carefully, and they lay out on the hood of her car and she’s got a bottle of something foul-tasting that kisa drinks anyway, and she shares a cigarette with kisa and when kisa gets her lipstick on it manola just laughs and smokes it down to embers. she calls it almost kissing, and kisa isn’t entirely sure what that means but she believes her

So, I’m at work rn, I was having lunch and my colleague (who’s 11 years older than me and has 3 kids) started talking about her family vacation. And then she turned to me and asked if I “finally”© changed my mind about parenting. I said: “Nope, I still don’t want to have kids”. AND THEN SHE SAID THE SHITTIEST THING I’VE EVER HEARD IN MY LIFE.

She literally said: “Someone needs to rape you” and laughed.

And 2 other women (who also have kids) started laughing too, like it was a super funny joke.

I was so shocked, I didn’t know how to react. The only thing I was able to say was: “This is dumb and disgusting, do you realize it?”.

She (still laughing): “Oh, I meant someone good and well-known should rape you, so you would have a baby and you would realize kids are cool and parenting is fun”.

I’m 27. I’m an adult woman, and another woman says she wants someone to rape me because she’s too stupid to accept my choice (which is not her fucking business, actually). And two other grown-up women think she is right.
