A few weeks ago, my former best friend and I called it quits. It was over something that was my fault, something that I should have put her feelings more carefully into consideration. I apologized, but in the weeks since, I'm starting to realize that it'd been a long time coming.

I think what upset me most about her cutting me off was that I'd just assumed that she'd be as quick to forgive me as I had for all the times she'd done damage to our friendship. Maybe she didn't, or doesn't, know the times that I felt let down and betrayed by her. (Although, one of those should be glaringly obvious.) I have to admit that it stung that her forgiveness never came.
