Yes, Wolf having a history with James has always been part of starfox64 lore, however it was only known to those who purchased the official guide from JP. The first instance this was officially mentioned in other languages or within an actual game orz was through Wolf’s trophy in Super Smash Bros Brawl. That’s how I found out.

Oh there’s also the James Mccloud from the F-Zero universe! In the anime, this James had a teammate named O’Donnell.
