JJ and I got new digs, so I made her a bowl stand out of leftover laminated MDF from the years-ago kitchen reno and a couple of feet of leftover hobby wood. The MDF already matched so a quick coat of white on the hobby wood gave it a uniform look. Weekend project: fruit and vegetable bin for the counter. Reused cedar planks and hobby wood slats came together easily. I picked yellow because I don't have many fun acrylics and I can still stencil something on if I want. I made a 10" x 11" X 6" two-level shelf to create some space next to my sink and make it easier to keep down clutter and keep up cleanliness! I used a length of reused cedar fence for the sides and shelf, and 3/4" hobby wood for the slats. Scratched and painted to match my other bathroom creations. Also worked on a veggies stand but it's not quite ready. I'm donating 25 bookmarks and a set of three greeting cards to a work fundraiser. The animal designs are vectorized from sketches I did in a notebook and each backing is an original watercolour. I find the entire process relaxing and enjoyable. Plus I love the quote, Be Curious, Not Judgemental, and I'll take any opportunity to send that into the universe. I was raised to be hypervigilant: always aware of surroundings and to see trouble before it starts. Then I picked careers that often involve me learning about and retelling stories of negative consequences faced by others. It makes relaxing difficult at times. I am trying to redirect that focus to the beautiful and fascinating rather than the possible negatives. It is frequently a challenge.
