What do you think about Applied Mathematics?
Hi! To be honest I didn’t have any Applied Mathematics classes at collage so far. I mean we had some Maths in IT and Physics but nothing very useful. But in generall I’m all for it :)

Hi! I'm taking an 11 week college algebra course this summer and I want to be as prepared as possible. What concepts/definitions/formulas will I most likely be covering in the class so I can read up on them! Thank you!
Hi! You should definitelly look up algebraic definitions of a group, ring, homomorphisms, field and ideals. Good luck!

28.03.2016 || Easter Monday
Reading, studying, worrying, being sick.
I’ve been teaching as a private tutor for a few years now and I know how much trouble geometry problems are for my students. So here are few tips on how to deal with them.
1. Read carefully the task - It’s crucial. You have to find out what you are looking for. If there’s a picture, give yourself a minute to look at it. If it is more complex problem write down everything you were given in a simple, clear and understandable way. Don’t write full sentences - you don’t want to rewrite the task. Make short notes.
2. Picture - I always say that you can’t solve a geometry problem without a proper picture. Make it as big as you need and keep in mind that the more details you have to put in, the bigger your picture should be. 3. Another picture - If the problem concerns stereometry f.e. prisms or pyramids then you should draw another picture of the base and (if needed) of the face. It really helps to imagine everything and properly see angles - they often get disordered and tend to be interpreted the wrong way. 4. Remarks - First of all: if you were given any information f.e. the surface area or volume, write down the formula which allows to calculate it. Then substitute all the variables you know in the formula. It’ll allow you to see what you need to calculate. 5. Find missing sides and angles using:         a) Properties of given polygon or solid.         b) Pythagorean Theorem.         c) Intercept Theorem.         d) Trigonometry.         e) Properties of angles. Crucial part of this is the picture - if it is good and clear you’ll be able to notice everything. Of course if you don’t understand any of a-c issues, go back and learn them first because you won’t be able to use it as fast and efficient as you need. 6. Calculate everything you need. - Now you have all the info you need so it’ll be easy. :)There you have it. 6 steps to solving geometry problem. Good luck! :)

17.03.2016 || My book haul turned out to be blue :)
Everyone! Listen to this amazing polish song and read the lyrics.
English translation:
I’d like to tell you Describe all the pain Remind you  the greatness of moments Use little words With each of my nails I recaptured your laugh I couldn’t scream already Fainting is a gift Further,  further,  further,  further… Gray sounds so proudly, Worth of every single day To stand next to them To save the hum of streets I remember the plan so well Although it’s so remote Doest the fact that I’m not strong anymore Spell the end of us? Further,  further,  further,  further… Don’t worry, please Everything will pass Sooner and harder The courage is killing me Nothing happened You know it I gave up everything To have everything
I don’t like calling someone an expert if he or she doesn’t have a diploma to prove it. But since there are no professional uni long days survivors, I’m gonna say I feel an expert in that matter.
I have a lot of classes. In Poland we can’t actually choose classes so if you want to take some additional ones you have to sacrifice your free time and fit them into your timetable. I do two specialities and lots of interships which I have to do during academic year because they are in schools. So basically I spend around 10 hours a day at uni. On Wednesday I’m at uni for 12 hours. I feel an expert.
How to survive a long day at uni
Prepare yourself. Do homework, revise notes, do everything you can not to stress the next day.
Get enough sleep the night before. I think it’s pretty self-explanatory. You can’t avoid being tired after a whole day of studying but you can avoid being sleepy during the process. Coffee or energy drinks won’t do the trick. They’ll help you stay awake but you’ll be exhausted before you even start the day.
Eat a proper breakfast. I’m not my mum I swear but she’s right to make me eat breakfast. If you’re always in hurry in the morning at least drink a hot beverage. If you never know what to eat, prepare your breakfast in the evening before or write down what you’ll eat.
Bring beverage and a little snack with you. You never know when you get hungry. You might not have time to go to the shop or vending machine and keep in mind that you efficiency is lowering when you’re hungry.
Use every single break to relax. Talk with friends, listen to the music, read a chapter of the book. Even if you have a test in few minutes don’t use them for studying. You won’t learn anything in 2 or 3 minutes, you’ll only get stressed out.
Eat a lunch. Go to the diner or canteen. It’ll give you strength for the rest of the day.
Go outside for few minutes and take a few deep breaths. It’ll be refreshing (until you avoid smokers outside).
After you get home let yourself have a nap or be lazy for a while. You deserve it. You survived the day.
Step forward

things i wish i’d known in my first year of university
I’m reaching the end of my time at university and it’s got me all sentimental. and regretful. There are a number of things that I had learned during my time at university that I wish I’d known during first year.Â
Read everything. The only valid excuse for not reading everything on the reading list is that you didn’t have time, not that you found it boring, or that it wasn’t useful. Because there’s nothing scarier than trying to write an essay on something you studied a month ago, and you have no notes on the topic.Â
Revise constantly. I wish I’d revisited everything I did a week after I did it, just as a recap. I tended to focus on what I was doing in the moment because it felt the most important thing at the time. Well, during exams, everything is equal. And it’s so frustrating not quite being able to remember something. So, revise. Even just for ten minutes.
Don’t spend all of your money on impulse. I’ve bought so much rubbish that I really don’t need. And if I’d saved that money, I could have gone on holiday. Save every last penny you can.Â
Eat well. I just said that you should save all the money you can, but I think that food is one exception to that rule. Try and save money where you can, obviously, but don’t go for days and days without fresh vegetables because you’re saving money for a holiday. Your mind, as well as your body, needs food.
Go and talk to professors in their student hours. I used to find this so awkward. To be honest, I still do. But if you’re going sending them an email and asking for clarification on a topic, consider maybe popping into their office when it’s open to students. And tell them if you’re struggling! If you don’t let them know, then they can’t help you.
Take hot drinks with you, to your lectures or to the library. Don’t spend all your money in the library cafe. Bring a flask of tea, and loads of study snacks in a packed lunch box. Trust me on this.
Make time to meet up with friends you haven’t seen in ages. Don’t wait for them to ask you. I make sure to socialise with my friends at least twice a week. And by socialise, I don’t mean getting blind drunk and going clubbing. Sit down and have lunch together. Chat. Get to know each other properly. Friendships formed over alcohol never last as long as friendships formed through actual conversation.
Do stuff that the university puts on for students. Join societies. Get involved. One of the best nights I ever had at university was a masquerade ball that my college put on. And for some reason, I’ve never done anything like that since then? And I don’t understand why! University is for making memories, and I don’t really have many!
Travel around your university town. If you’re university is on a campus, don’t let your life revolve around that one place. If you’ve travelled away from home to go to university, then make it worth your while! See the sights, be a tourist, get on a bus and go to a random town and buy ice cream.Â
Experiment. This is the time. Dye your hair blue, join a weird and random society and take up a hobby you’d never dreamed of.  If you want to try drugs, make sure it’s a safe environment and do your research before hand. If you don’t want to do that kind of thing, then don’t judge other people for doing so.
Give yourself a day off per week. When you’re at university and you’ve got loads of work, it’s tempting to just work constantly - or at least, to work every day, if not all the time. But it’s so much better for your mental state to take a day off to just relax.Â
Keep up with your chores. When you’re stressed about an assignment, you don’t want to be also stressed about that pile of washing up accumulating by the sink. Keep your room tidy too - clear space, clear mind.
Be kind to everyone. You’re going to meet a lot of people at university, some you’re going to hit it off with immediately. But there will be some who really rub you up the wrong way. Don’t worry about it, it’s completely fine to not like someone. But don’t be mean to them. This isn’t high school, you’re all here to learn and there’s just no need to make them feel bad about themselves. It’s just petty and childish.
Think about the future. I know that you’re completely wrapped up in your university life right now, but you’re going to have to venture out into the real world at some point. Do things that might help your future career: volunteer, get a job, join a sports club, make connections. University isn’t, sadly, forever.
There you have it! The advice that I would have given myself in the first year of university. Whether you’re just about to start university, or whether you’re just about to leave, I hope this is useful to you.
Basically me after all my exams.

14.02.2016 || Sunday relax with a book
Hello, It’s me :)
11.02.2016 || My finals are almost over. I don’t have to study anymore. So I went to the local library today and I took some pictures. I haven’t been there for ages because I bought a lot of books recently and I’ve been reading them ever since.I used to borrow a lot of books from library, but now that I have a job I can afford them. There’s just something about owning books. Reading them is the best part but looking at full shelves...
