How to set up and run a studygram
Despite Tumblr being the first home of the study community, weâve all since expanded to Instagram. Who can blame us? Itâs great :â-) However, the two have some differences! Iâve previously covered the steps on running studyblr, but am now going through a few tips on starting a studygram. It is one of my most asked questions so Iâll try to be thorough, I hope this helps!
Starting the account
This is the easiest part! Sign up using a personal or blog dedicated email address, it is up to you. Instagram now allows you to run several accounts at a time which makes operating a studygram and personal account much simpler. Here is a couple of tips on setting up the page:
pick a funky username - generally, study related is going to be best for a studygram but definitely not a requirement. If youâve got a Tumblr, you can always use the same username. You can do something similar to me, such as using your first name or go for something completely different. It is totally your choice!Â
create a personalised icon - these have become more popular recently since it helps to differentiate accounts! Iâd recommend using canva.com, Photoshop or one from my account. Again, these are optional! Alternatively, you can use a selfie or random picture of your choice.
share a little about yourself - your bio is important too! You can design it any way you like. Most people will include their name and education level/system (high school, university, etc). This is completely up to you. If you want to have the gaps between like mine (@emmastudiess), type it on your notes and then copy + paste. Remember to add in your website/studyblr if you have one!
introduction post - as your first post, it is always nice to introduce yourself! Try including details about yourself, what youâre studying, where youâre from, your hobbies, some of your favourite accounts, etc. Feel free to tag or mention me in your post and I can check out your account!
deciding between business and personal accounts - whilst personal accounts are used by most of the studygram community, some people to prefer the business account since it gives you some additional features such as story links (when you have over 10,000 followers), analytics, and email/phone links on your profile. Whilst those are cool and somewhat useful, it isnât a big plus! To set up a business profile, you have to have a Facebook page dedicated to your blog which is a bit of a hassle to set up - especially if you donât want to use your personal account.
Taking and posting photos
deciding regularity - this is another thing that is totally up to you! When I first started using Instagram, I was posting three times a day (yes, three!). It was absolutely crazy and I wouldnât ever suggest that :â-) I now post once a day if I can but sometimes every two days. You donât have to upload each day but being active is obviously important for expanding your account!
take good quality photos - I use an iPhone 7 so you donât need a fancy camera for it! Try to maximise natural lighting in each picture. Here are some other tips for taking pictures! Play around with angles and shots. Comparing my photos to when I started to now shows how much my style and photo taking has changed!
how to edit your photos - some people use alternative apps like VSCOcam (most popular) or Snapseed for this! The filters you use do depend on the kind of style youâd like your feed. I use Instagram to edit my pictures because I never liked needing to use several apps to get it how I wanted (Iâm too lazy for that haha!). Here is my editing process if youâre interested.
develop a feed that you like - some people place a lot of emphasis on having an âaesthetic feedâ but I feel like whilst it plays a part, it isnât everything. Your studygram doesnât have to be perfectly matching all the time. When I started my Instagram, I took my feed very seriously and got very stressed about how it looked. After a while, I realised it wasnât worth the amount of pressure I put myself under. Try to not let it consume you!
Putting your account out there and building followers
use hashtags - this is a great way to promote your photos! Go with the most popular like #study #studygram #school #studies #studyinstagram. I will often hashtag what is in my photos, for example, #muji or #bulletjournal. You could even make a hashtag for just your posts. Use #emmastudies if there is something youâd like me to see! :-)
tag brands - this is another good way to get your posts noticed. If someone is checking out a brandâs Instagram, they may go through the tagged photos to use their products in action.
be active in the studygram community - follow anyone you find inspirational. You may be lucky to get some follow backs! I try to check out any studygrams that follow me! Like and comment on photos that you think are cool. Everyone in the studygram community loves hearing from their followers so even small comments like âI really like this spreadâ or âlove this pictureâ can make someoneâs day!
donât be afraid to put yourself out there - Iâve made lots of amazing friends and met some lovely people! Strike up a conversation with any studygrammer you want too!Â
shoutouts - these are a common thing across all social media and can be great for getting extra exposure. It is always best to be polite when approaching about shoutouts since some people donât always like to do them.Â
Additional pointers
studygram requirements - Iâve had numerous messages from people saying they are interested in starting a studygram but havenât because they âdonât have nice writingâ, âarenât very artisticâ, or âdonât own certain stationeryâ and it makes me really sad :-( You shouldnât let these things stop you! I think we need to remember that whilst those things might help get notes, underneath that studygram is about our education and self-improvement! I think we need to be pushing that more, instead of an idealist version. A studygram should be a personal source of motivation and place to share your journey with others, not something where you feel pressured.
be nice, friendly and polite -Â I think this is the golden rule for any blogger. Treat everyone with respect. Be kind when communicating with them. Be grateful for your followers! They are voluntarily following you because they enjoy your posts - donât take advantage of that.
remember to be realistic - it can be very easy to use Instagram to create a highlight reel of photographs but remember weâre all students! Things donât always go perfectly. We arenât productive all the time. It isnât expected. (If you follow me, youâll know I dedicate a lot of time to Game of Thrones and Buzzfeed Unsolved!!!) Let your followers know how your day is going and when things arenât working out, or if they are! Everyone is supportive and will be happy to share some words of encouragement.Â
donât steal content - if you take inspiration from another account, it is always nice to share that! For example, in the caption, you can write âI loved this post by @studyblogger101 and created an inspired versionâ. If you directly reblog someone, also be sure to tag and/or mention them. It is only fair to give correct attribution to the original owner. If you happen to see someone publishing another personâs photo without credit, it is always appreciated to share that or comment on the post.
keep it fun - as I mentioned, when I started I took Instagram quite seriously. I was really particular about it. Iâve now learnt that I donât have to worry like I did. It is just a fun way to document my day-to-day life and doesnât need to be a source of stress. We get worked up about these things sometimes, but remember to put it into perspective!Â
I hope this helps! I have loved being a part of the studygram community and seeing more people join would be awesome! Donât forget to check out my account @emmastudiess!

hello class of 2021! i hope youâre psyched for freshman year ;)
i thought it would be cool to start a coâ2021 studyblr network, because i noticed we donât have one yet! this was inspired by @hs2017, @co2018, @co19, and @co2020 haha.
what is the class of 2021 network?
the class of 2021 network is a central place you can come to for freshman year advice, helpful masterposts, and tips. itâs also where you can find, meet, and connect with other studyblrs in the class of 2021!
do i have to be coâ21 to follow/join?
you donât have to be a rising freshman to follow the blog! many of the posts we create + reblog can be helpful for other middle/high schoolers.
you have to be part of the class of 2021 to join the network. if you arenât, thereâs probably a network for your class too, so you can join that one instead.
why should i become a member?Â
youâll get your name, location, and url up on the member page. this will help you follow + be followed by other studyblrs! you can also tag your posts with #co-2021 and weâll reblog them!
do i need a certain blog type/follower count to become a member? how about an admin?
nope! you donât have to be a studyblr or have a ton of followers to become a member. to be an admin, you have to be a studyblr, but you can still be smol :â)
how do i join? how do i become an admin?
visit here to join; visit here to become an admin!Â
i have a question. who should i ask?
feel free to message me (camellia-study) or the co-2021 network!
iâm tagging some studyblrs who i know are in the class of 2021:
@thestudyfeels @bujowithmere @sailorsaturnstudies @julstudies @mcchi-studies @assiqns
even if youâre not coâ2021, please reblog this so people will see it! (iâm still pretty smol myself)

Study tips! - 2017
Hi guys! These are the tips that I have for now, the truth is that they work quite a bit at the time of studying and I hope they do the same for you.
1.     Make summaries and/or schemas:
Iâm a girl more of summaries than schemes (concept maps, or mind maps), but any of these are good to analyze, understand and remember better what one is studying at the time. I know that many people, like me, have the problem to put what they were studied in either of these two methods, for example, Iâm not very good with the schemes, therefore I support more on summaries and to make them as small as possible, carefully not to forget anything about what I am summarizing; This is why I want to advise you that no matter how difficult and complicated it seem any of these methods, try it. Eventually, you will handled the way to do it and youâll not realize when you will be all experts.
2.     Uses colors:
Yes, I wonât deny it, Iâm 100% a girl of colors. I feel incomplete, weird, as if something will miss me when my notes do not have color, at least highlight my titles, I need it, itâs something that is a part of me.
Careful! Use colors doesnât mean that our notes are freshly come out from a fairy oven and it looks like a rainbow, no. Use them, but sparingly, as fair and necessary to put your notes look cute and you can difference the titles of the rest, or the term of its meaning⌠and of course the most important thing, that are organized and clean so that when it comes the time for studying, you can understand everything.
More than for aesthetics, I occupy the colors in order to have a more dynamic vision in my notebook, allowing me to better understand, memorize better and above all to find what I want more easily. However, I wonât deny that I also like to have my notes beautiful and colorful, I say, who donât like to have their notes organized and beautiful? To nobody.
3.     Organize your time:
Sometimes when we sit at our study site we spend hours on the same subject, without advancing in others that also we have to study, so to avoid these types of mishaps that make our work to study more heavy, because it leaves all for after, we must organize our time of study. Some occupy the âbullet journal" method for studies, others, the timer. I used the timer until I met a wonderful applications that help you concentrate and at the same time, takes your time. For example, we have a well known application called âForestâ which is available for both IOS and Android, with the difference that in Android you can download the free version, which in IOS is not yet available, but there are other applications that are similar to âForestâ that are free, such as âBe Focusedâ, an application that also helps you manage your time , where you can save time and designate them for return to them whenever you want, you also have the option to have breaks. The only difference between âForestâ and âBe Focusedâ is that the first you have the option of listening to sound of fund for greater concentration, while the second handles you only the time, without the option of background music. These two earlier applications are part of many more that you can find both Android and IOS (if you want, later I will let a post with a list of applications to study that I personally find the best of them).
To organize your time, you must rely on what you are studying, because it all depends on the amount of content. For example, in biology is usually much content, concepts or terms to memorize and understand, so I left a full hour to study everything and make sure that I understood. If the content is very complicated, I can add a couple of more minutes, but without passing me in the hour and a half, because you have to keep in mind that there are more to study.
4.      Explains what you studied:
Thatâs right, explain in your own words what you studied. This may be by voice or video recorder, the idea is that once youâve explained everything in your own words you can hear the audio, and ensure that youâve understood all or at least the vast majority. So you will see your failings and strengthen your weaknesses., correct your mistakes and learn from them. Personally, I recorded my voice explaining the best that I can what Iâve understood, and if Iâve doubts about having it explained well or have covered all, I send the audio to my friends or classmates, that way I can have a second opinion and make sure I have done well.
5.      Record your classes if possible:
If you need to take notes in a class, but for various reasons, are a - b or c, you canât be able to complete them, I recommend that you carefully get your cellphone and begin to record the class quietly, and when you will be already at home can play the audio and complete your notes without missing anything.
Although, to tell the truth, I recommend over talking to your classmates and ask for
permission from the Professor, and then record the class, both in audio as an image. If the teacher still not authorized it (because itâs supposed to record the classes within an establishment is not allowed), can get a little rebellious and record, put your cellphone somewhere in the room where it isnât seen. Sometimes be a little rebellious is not bad, it all depends on the reason why you are, right?
Carefull! This doesnât mean that you donât take notes in class or not pay attention because you are recording, if you donât understand the class less you will do it through an audio or video, where you donât have the support of your present teacher.
6.     Creates memory cards (flashcards):
Although it seems typical, they are quite effective. There is the option of to make them yourself or you can download any application that can make them, as for example Quizlet, an application that is available both IOS and Android. This will help to quickly memorize definitions of concepts, or important dates, people and their works, etc.
7.     Transfer your notes in order, rewrite:
If you are one of the people who, like me, prefer to make a draft of his notes, and then pass them in clean (rewrite them), youâll know that this tip really works. I wonât deny that it is more work, but everything has its reward, isnât it?
Personally Iâm of people who have better visual memory, which read and write helps me to memorize better. Thus I memorize and order my notes, both at the same time. In addition, it said that rewrite is equivalent to five readings, I donât know if that is true, but I at least feel that I memorize best rewritting, well in my time to study I remember things Iâve written and I can understand them better.
8.      Listen to music to concentrate:
The truth is that this tip is pretty ambiguous and personal, because it depends on each person. Many people canât concentrate with noise, so they only can study in complete silence, and others simply cannot withstand be studying with so much silence. Iâm of people who are in the middle.
For me is inevitable listen classical, instrumental music, rain, nature or just a relaxing study melody sounds. It helps me enough to concentrate and accompany me at the time of study. There are a variety of videos on YouTube with relaxing music, classical or instrumental music, or sounds of nature to study, as well as on Spotify playlists that are pretty good.
Personally, I listen to music when I do exercises such as mathematics or physics, and as for readings or review, normally I do without music or with one that does not have too much rhythm, as sounds of rain, wind, etc., to be able to concentrate.
9.     Search material of support:
If you feel that you still donât understand the subject, either because it is very difficult or because you donât understand your teacher, you canât stay still and do nothing. You have to auto-teach you, learn and learn any other way what you are passing in classes.
For example, looking for videos that teach you what you are going through, search exercises online, Power Point presentations, PDF documents to help you supplement your notes or your knowledge. There are many channels on YouTube that can help you to study, as also pages with books, exercises, and documents about what youâre going. The idea is to find supporting material that will help you to understand what youâre learning in class, so to be able to reinforce.
10.  Stay away from your social networks:
I know that many of us it has happened that from being studying we went from one second to another to be checking our Instagram account. Best for these cases is to put the cell phone as far as possible, if needed elsewhere in your home (obviously, if youâre studying at home), and in airplane mode so that nothing interrupts your time of study. Now, to avoid entering your networks through the computer or laptop that you are using at the time of study, you can download applications that will block certain pages by a certain time, and once activated cannot be it reversed, yes or Yes you should spend that time so that the pages are unlocked. These applications exist for both Windows and Mac.
11. Uses Post-it (sticky notes):
These help me to write down something that perhaps the teacher said in class and would not have seeing completely with the theme that weâre passing, or be any possible question test, any dimension, a concept that I donât know.
12. If you have any doubts, questions, ask:
As they say the teachers, or at least of my school, âThere no are silly questions, only fools who donât askâ. So, if you have doubts, ask. No matter if you make a mistake, you must solve all your doubts because that will help you better understand what you are seeing. If you are in classes and you donât understand, ask, solve all your doubts with the professor, because once you get home to study you wonât understand almost nothing, if it is that it is absolutely nothing, by not having asked.
If youâre at home or out of classes, studying, grab your cell and ask your classmates. The idea is to clear your concern in one way or another.
Personally, I really like to be able to solve my doubts with my classmates, because in addition to answer all my questions, we can exchange notes, complementing our notes, we can learn new techniques to solve exercises, etc.
13.  Review constantly:
I know that the work of reviewing every day is quite heavy, but it works. Itâs truth. At least in my experience constantly review has helped me be able to memorize better what are passing to me in classes, since the constant review helps to retain longer the lessons learned, and a day before the test it doesnât need to study too hard, âcause everything I learned it was be engraved on the head, and just only a small study session will need. Therefore I recommend that when you get arrive home after school review your notes at least 15 minutes that day, and everyday, in that way you will retain in your head more time what they are seeing.
14.  Gets emails from your professors/teachers:
In my case, some of my teachers send us documents PDF or PPTs we use during their classes, to study and reinforce what we saw, as well as complement our notes. Course, I recommend that if you are still in school, you can put on agree with your classmates and create an email as a group so that way you will not have problem in contacting your teacher. This is âcause in some schools have problems for contact their professors outside the establishment, and there are some schools that are quite strict in that area. If youâre in university, I donât think that will be a problem to contact you through your personal email.
Carefull! Teachers are not always so cool, or so nice, to give you their mail, some of they put many excuses since in some schools the teacher-student ethics is fairly strict with contact outside the establishment, so they are usually quite reluctant to give them, especially if the teacher is handsome, so you have to prove that you are really interested in the material support and not in him, or in harass him (even while actually are haha, the key is prove otherwise đ).
15. Lean on your textbooks:
Many times in our schools deliver us books of the subjects that we will see that year (either whether we should buy them or they are delivered by the same school), and either that the professor uses them little or nothing within classes, we must have in mind that the book yes serves us and helps, or at least the vast majority of them because it is a support material that contains descriptions, images and vocabulary, and to answer key in some, that helps us to know in what we were wrong (for example, the books of mathematics, following exercise can confirm your answer with the solution key), this can serve when you are studying for a test, and also the test obviously. So it is best to always bear in mind that texts that give schools if you serve, independent of whether the teachers based their class in them or not, there will always be material that will help you to complement what you taught the teacher in class.
16. Have a fixed study site:
To study well and be able to focus without any impediment, we need a fixed and comfortable place. This place has to be clean, orderly, and as much as possible wide (extended desktop), so we can have all our scope and not deconcentrate us to go for something that you need or miss. The best thing is study in a desk in your room, or in the table of dining room of your house, but is completely forbidden study in bed, as to be overly comfortable us enters laziness and sleep, interrupting our study session, and practically ensuring a long nap.
17. Keep a schedule of fixed study:
Personally, Iâm kind of people who arenât very organized when it comes to schedules or events. Simply plans and me not get along very well, but I donât deny that for a time I tried it, being constant in my moment of planning what to do later (in my bullet journal) and I found it quite beneficial. Apart from planning everything and organize my time, and comply with what I should do of course, I could see the progress of my studies, but as I said the plans and I donât we get along very well. But that doesnât prevent that recommend you organize your time, plan what to do, and between that define a time of day that is dedicated only to study. It can be in the afternoon after school, can be in the morning before going to school, or can be at night before going to bed, no matter the time, what matters is that you should defined a time to study and you canât move that time, this will help to discipline your brain and accustom him that in this period of the day must be aware, attentive and concentrated to absorb everything, of course without forgetting small breaks in the study session. Over time youâll see the results, giving you features that you do better absorb the information, that in that period of time your brain will be more attentive to what he reads or exercises, so you can understand much better than before.
+ Bonus: Organize your times. For this, the best is do the technique of bullet journal, you can also go to the planner, but personally I like the BJ more, although like I said, I didnât last long because a Iâm really bad in planning constantly, but during the time I did it worked perfect, so I recommend that even if you are just as bad planning constantly, like me, try it. Who knows? Perhaps you become experts in the bullet journal.
Regards! đâđ

A while ago, i bought a pentel sign pen, without realising that it is actually used for calligraphy. I then tried the calligraphy with the pentel pen and LOVED it! Ever since, i made a calligraphy notebook and started to apply the calligraphy in my notes. I already ordered a pack of good calligraphy brush pens, that will arrive when i get back from my holidays. I am excited for showing you guys how I can insert these in my notes! -XXX-

Iâve broken it down into time frames to help keep you from getting overwhelmed. Write the chart down and hang it someplace where you can see it all the time. I will be starting this challenge tomorrow, 9/8. Iâll check in with you guys every Sunday to track my progress. I have specific goals in mind for myself, and you guys should make some too! I really want to know how you guys are doing. Tag your progress posts with #sbfpc so I can track it and take a look. Letâs get to it!
EVERY MORNING
Stretch. First thing. Really give your body enough time to wake up. Touch your toes. Roll out your shoulders. Do not hit snooze!
Do your full skincare routine. I have mine detailed here, but do whatever works for you and your complexion. Be gentle and consistent.Â
Brush your teeth and floss. I used to be a big floss-skipper too, but youâd be amazed at how dig of a difference it makes. Rinse with a whitening mouthwash. I use one by Crest, and I notice a major difference in my teethâs overall whiteness in just a few days.
Give yourself enough time to get ready. Whether youâre a wash-and-go kind of girl, or someone who spends an hour doing a full contouring routine before class (and either one is fine!), make sure you arenât rushing. If you need to wake up a few minutes earlier than normal, so be it. Rushing sets an awful, stressed-out tone for the rest of the day. Allow yourself to be relaxed before taking on the day.
Eat something. Iâm not going to say eat a big breakfast, because some people (myself included) just canât eat in the morning. But you should eat, or at least bring a little something with you to work or school. If you canât eat a full breakfast, grab a fruit! You wonât be as hungry come lunch time, making you less likely to gorge yourself.
Shower. You can do this at night, in the morning, whatever. Again, this is something you should allow some time for. I donât wash my hair every day, but I do condition it every day (from the ears down). Scrub yourself with a delicious-smelling body wash. If you shave, make yourself as smooth as a dolphin, dude. If you donât, then donât and donât ever ever ever let anyone make you feel bad or weird about it. When you get out of the shower, wrap yourself in a fluffy towel and totally slather your sexy self with lotion. Top to bottom. Do it as soon as you can post-shower so it can really sink in.Â
Put leave-in condition throughout your damp hair and comb it through.
Put on an outfit that makes you feel good! So important!
Drink water. Drink water. Drink water. Drink water!!!!!
Take a look at your daily to-do list. Knock out the most pressing stuff first. Take pride when you cross things off your list.
Make your bed! Oh my god, make your bed. Do it. Do it. Do it.Â
EVERY AFTERNOONÂ
Follow the âtouch it onceâ approach. This is a truly life-changing thing. When a task is in front of you, no matter how big or small, just do it right then and there. How many times have you gotten a work email or homework assignment and thought, âEh, Iâll do it laterâ? And then later never comes? Once something pops up, do it once. Squash it and be done. Cross things off your list and feel like a badass.
Try to go for a walk at lunch. Even one little lap around the block or campus will reenergize you like nobodyâs business.Â
Drink water. Drink water. Drink water. Drink water!!!!!
Be present. This is so hard for me too, but you have to make a major effort to be present in whatever youâre doing. Be engaged and plugged-in and just exist in the moment. Give 100 percent.
Be friendly to friends and strangers. A smile goes a long way.
Eat something. Eat what you packed for lunch (see below) and take a break from working while you do it. You need âyou timeâ!
EVERY EVENING
Take your makeup off as soon as youâre in for the night. Wash your face with your full routine and let your skin have a break.Â
Workout. You can also do this in the morning. Whatever works for you. Make a great playlist and go hard af. Get your cardio in. Get your strength training in. Earn every freaking sweat bead forming on your forehead. Earn your shower!
Knock out your homework. Life is infinitely better you donât have anything hanging over your head. Half the time, the energy and emotion you spent dreading/putting off your work is ten times worse than the work itself.
Make a list of what needs to be done tomorrow. Itâll set you up for success the next day, and you wonât forget anything!
Drink water. Drink water. Drink water. Drink water!!!!!
Lay out your clothes for tomorrow. This will save you SO MUCH TIME in the morning omg I canât even tell you how important this is.
Eat something great. And once youâve decided to be done eating for the night, be done. Brush your teeth so you canât eat again.
After brushing, do a whitening treatment. Whether itâs classic baking soda, a Crest white strip, or a laser. Do something. And floss! Retainers in too, ladies 0:)
Relax! Take a few hours to do what YOU want to do. Scroll through Tumblr, binge on some Netflix, FaceTime gossip with your friends, anything. Do whatever makes you happiest.Â
Shut the electronics off an hour before you want to go to bed. Put your phone on sleep mode. If you stare at the screen, it will keep you awake and alert and you wonât be able to fall asleep. A good nightâs sleep is crucial for weightless and general happiness lol
Do a quick sweep of your room and see if thereâs anything you can put away real quick. A clean space is a happy space.
Crawl into your bed (arenât you happy you took the time to make it?!) and read a book by lamplight for a while. When you start to feel sleepy, go to sleep. Donât push it. You kicked ass today and you deserve rest.Â
EVERY WEEKEND
Do something with your friends. It just has to be one thing. Even if youâre just hanging out at the coffee shop, spending time with your squad will make you a better, happier person.
Drink water. Drink water. Drink water. Drink water!!!!!
Do something just for you. Set your laptop up in the bathroom and watch a Netflix marathon while you take a bubble bath. Buy an old school bottle of Mr. Bubbles ($3 at Target!) and really just soak. Relax. Light a candle.
Do something creative. You can read a book, write, blog, draw, code, anything. It just has to be something that speaks to your passion.
Track your progress. Just do this once a week so it doesnât become all-consuming. And remember that non-scale victories are just as important as shedding pounds.
Take the time to be grateful. Tell your friend how much you admire her taste in music. Mention to your mom how much you love her cooking and how happy you are that she takes care of you. Thank your teaching after an especially interesting lecture. When you do something awesome, take a moment to admire yourself. Be grateful for even the little things.
