That certainly wasn't the case for me, even though I am usually very susceptible to the subtle stirring of deep-seated fears. I remember the first time I saw the film: it was the late 1980s, and I was 16 or 17. My best friend’s brother had a huge collection of illegal VHS bootlegs; we were totally obsessed with the splatter genre, and *Bad Taste* sounded promising. The copy was so poor that the cheap special effects actually looked real. We were shocked! Fortunately, our English skills were good enough—despite the New Zealand accents—to eventually realize what an absurdly funny story it was, and we were hooked on the film from day one.
Back then, there were those little shops where you could get T-shirts printed. The very day the package containing the original VHS tape arrived via UPS, I became the first and only person in my hometown to own a *Bad Taste* T-shirt. I wore it to screenings of *Meet the Feebles*—which played a few times at a tiny independent cinema—and I still own it today.
The question of whether Donald Duck was born on June 9, 1934 (his first appearance in a cartoon) or March 13, 1920 (according to Don Rosa) is still a controversial topic among Donaldist’s worldwide. I personally believe it’s March 13, 1920 - because this was a Friday.

For it wasn't the acrobatics, in themselves, that made the Nicholas brothers the Nicholas Brothers. It was the overall beauty and musicality of the entire dance. Their achievement was in the how — the way Fayard would deploy his hands, as graceful as Fred Astaire's; the way Harold would make every silhouette superclear; the genial, noncompetitive way each brother would cede the floor to the other for a solo, passing the dance like a baton, in musical time. When Astaire pronounced their "Jumpin' Jive" number in the movie Stormy Weather (1943) — unrehearsed and achieved on the first take — to be the greatest dancing he had ever seen on film, he was not commending the acrobatics alone but rather the way the brothers erupted organically out of their tap steps, like a series of overlapping geysers that, simply to look at, project an observer into a stratosphere of elation.
