like, can we PLEASE bring some activism to the idea of walkable cities, abolishing HOA's, abolishing grass lawns, making cities less road-centric, rewilding certain urban areas, etc. ?? It's a legitimately cool and important thing that will determine the future of many countries.

Have you ever been bored and thought: "wow i sure do hope someone on tumblr decides to make a list of things to do when bored that DOES NOT INVOLVE boring stuff like doing chores"

Well you're in luck because I have the list for you! Here it is:

Create a video game concept

Create a board game concept (BONUS: Make the game out of paper and random objects lying around your house)

Write a poem

Create a riddle

Solve a riddle (I frequent the Youtube channel TED-Ed for some fun and actually challenging puzzles.)

Write a list of things to do when bored

Take your imaginary pet fly out for a walk

Take your real pet fly out for a walk

Go outside and see how many birds you can identify in 15 minutes

Watch

Make your own language

Whether this is for a project or for fun, these are some interesting research topics. They could be serious or they could be silly but all of them will be interesting.

Plant poisons and their lookalikes. Alternatively, learn how to forage in your local area. Don't eat anything you find without a trained professional to help you!

Bird identification

Taxonomy. This is a wide field so choose a small category of things to learn about. For example, instead of trying to learn about every mammal classification, learn about lemur classification.

Game theory and logical puzzles. Again, a very broad field, so focus on a specific few puzzles to analyze.

Rats

The language of your choice

Linguistics (another broad field. It is recommended to start by looking into how languages are constructed.)

The history of the patriarchy

Constellations

The history of eugenics and why it became such a prevalent (and problematic) ideology

Lord of the Rings lore

Entomology- specifically look into a few insects of your choice.

I often find that the traditional 25 minutes on, 5 minutes off pomodoro method doesn't work for me. 25 minutes feels like too little a stretch of time for me to get into a flow state. Overall, it's just choppy and doesn't feel productive.

My favourite timings would be:

45:15. 45 minutes of work feels doable and gives me plenty of time to get in the swing of things. 15 minutes is a nice long break.

60:25. Same benefits as the previous one but a little longer.
