Yet again, Jackson found himself not wanting to interrupt Derek, still in partial disbelief that the guy was really here. Just an hour ago he was out in New York City on his own, just doing his own thing, hardly even thinking about Beacon Hills. And then the second he thought about Derek again, as though right on cue, out of nowhere… he was right back next to him. So he tried to follow along with everything he was saying. Darach, whatever that was, sacrificing people, Derek’s sister… He frowned as he listened, idly nibbling at his food as he did, at least at first.
But then Derek’s eyes went blue. Blue?
That was totally wrong. His eyes snapped wide and instinctively flashed his own matching blue back at Derek just for a moment. He sat up straight, definitely following along now. He tilted his head, slowly frowning as Derek explained the Scott situation. He suddenly shook his head though, sighing. “No, wait a second though. Scott’s an alpha. Okay. Wow, alright. Goodie-two-shoes,” he scoffed, grinning. “Damn perfect, right?” He shook his head, picking up a fry and plopping it in his mouth. “And uh… if you’re not an alpha anymore… Well I guess you’re not my alpha anymore then… Right?” He swallowed, speaking slowly. “Do you have a pack?”
He shrugged and figured he should change the topic if that’s what Derek wanted though, taking a moment to eat a few bites. “Uh well… New York’s not that interesting. Surprisingly. I mean, I don’t live here in the city, you know. My aunt and uncle…” He sighed, rolling his eyes with a soft laugh. “They suck. Bigtime. And uh, werewolf or not, they don’t cut me any slack. Not that they know. But you know, not bad. There’s a few other wolves at my high school…” Jackson paused, but decided not to continue that thought, nodding slowly. “Yeah, just you know… boring. Which, I guess that’s not a bad thing in comparison, right? You staying long?”
