The years 2000-2010 were awesome for metal. In my opinion, it's when the "NWOAHM" (New wave of American heavy metal) was in its prime. After bands like Pantera and Slayer ruled the 90's, everything else just kind of sucked. The 2000's - So much good music came out of this era and these are some of my personal favorites or albums I feel were extremely influential (in alphabetical order by band name 😀). It really bugs me to see so much hatred. Aside from racial, political and just general hate for people, there is so much hate in sub-cultures and particularly in the music scene. And it bothers me, a lot. People that can relate to each other in so many ways...and all you can do is hate each other. It just doesn't make any sense. What makes it even worse is when you have people that claim to be open minded, yet they are so threatened by someone who actually believes or thinks differently than they do. Yes, I am a Christian. Yes, I love heavy metal. Yes, I do listen to secular music. Yes, I do believe I'll be in heaven when I die. Why does that piss you off? At the end of the day, we are all bags of bones headed to the grave. Mindlessly wandering and searching for the best in this life. The only difference is that I KNOW I am a piece of trash and I find hope in my beliefs of a Supreme Being. Then flip it to the other side here... The church is so against embracing the people from these said sub-cultures, it's disgusting. Then when they do open up, they have nothing but condemnation and hate for the lifestyle and look of that person. For you to claim to "know God" and to hold the key of eternal life, with just a few words, and you utter so much hate and set yourself upon a pedestal...for what exactly?! Please, give me a justified reason why you are better than them! I won't hold my breath for a reply. We are living in strange times. It's a time that we could use to benefit from getting to know and understand each other better. Without having the preconceived intent of "converting" or "saving" someone. A time that we could all agree on one thing, that we are all human, period. No one is greater than the other...a time that we could love instead of hate, and let that love bridge the gap between beliefs and ideologies. Whether we can agree on certain issues is irrelevant. I want my children to grow up loving people not because they are told too or because that certain person believes in Jesus. I want my children to love humanity just because they know they are no different than anyone else. My views on mankind are tainted and I don't hold much faith in the world, speaking in general terms here. Obviously I put my faith in God, but what I'm saying is this life could have been different. It still could be to an extent if we all would get over ourselves and stop being stupid bigots. Religion, in its general state, is nothing more than a man made belief. Religion kills, it's not a cliché, it's truth. So many bad things have been done in the name of religion and I want nothing to do with that trend. I want to be in the page of history that symbolizes love and patience. I'm not asking you to be tolerant and accepting of certain lifestyles. But in all reality, You kinda have to. Jesus accepted those that the religious people shunned. They were whores, thieves, murderers. But he gave them wise instruction along with a warning/judgement. He didn't just tell them, "you're going to hell because you're you!" He said "I do not condemn you, go and sin no more." Be bigger than your mere attempts of being holy and just love people, for the sake of Love itself. Cause when it comes down to the end, the supposed day of atonement that we believe in, your hands will be drenched in blood. And at that point in time there will be no turning back.

Elisha Aaron Stryker "Daddy's Little Soldier" 4/4/13- 6/24/13 This Friday will be my son's birthday. Little did we know that his life would be so short. Elisha fought harder in his short life than I ever have in my entire life. He touched many people and left a mark on many hearts. We are incomplete without him. We love you baby boy.

This will be short and sweet. A week ago today I made a really hard decision in my life. A decision that has brought more clarity in one week than the rest of my 25 years on this earth. The outcome is still yet determined but I have no doubt that God will see me and my family through this. Not trying to sound like a broken record here but we have experienced so much darkness in the last year. With the death of our son and everything before and after that, it really is a miracle that we haven't given up. But, that's just it...if I were the same person I was 4+ years ago, I would've given up. And that's just it... This decision that I have recently made wasn't out of hate or envy or jealousy. It was simply for freedom and peace for not only myself but my family. My wife and daughters deserve so much more from me than being tied to my past and those that won't let me outlive my past. I'm simply letting go and letting God take control because if I had remained in this situation, I would've stopped thinking clearly and made more mistakes. Contrary to the popular belief of some I don't think I'm perfect and have "arrived". I'll be the first to accept my responsibility of my sins...5 years ago was a different story. I can't live in the past anymore nor can I associate or be around those that do. So cutting the ties was a necessity (not out of any other ridiculous motive that you may think or come up with to make yourself look good). I look at my daughters and see innocence, peace, love, and the true meaning of trust, the way God intended. And it will stay that way. They will not know of the boy that I was in the past or the negative things that he took part in. They will see a man who loves and protects them, they will see a man who wants to be more than what this world says he is. And anyone that stand in the way of that or speaks out against that, consider yourself non-existent in your lives. We have some other decisions to make and would really like some people to keep us lifted up in this. It will be a total life change but I feel as though it would be for the best...I just need to know that Gods hand is in it. Thank you for reading... -Justin

God, may I be a modern day Abraham... For the promise to Abraham and his offspring that he would be heir of the world did not come through the law but through the righteousness of faith. For if it is the adherents of the law who are to be the heirs, faith is null and the promise is void. For the law brings wrath, but where there is no law there is no transgression. That is why it depends on faith, in order that the promise may rest on grace and be guaranteed to all his offspring—not only to the adherent of the law but also to the one who shares the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all, as it is written, “I have made you the father of many nations”—in the presence of the God in whom he believed, who gives life to the dead and calls into existence the things that do not exist. In hope he believed against hope, that he should become the father of many nations, as he had been told, “So shall your offspring be.” He did not weaken in faith when he considered his own body, which was as good as dead (since he was about a hundred years old), or when he considered the barrenness of Sarah’s womb. No unbelief made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God, fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised. That is why his faith was “counted to him as righteousness.” But the words “it was counted to him” were not written for his sake alone, but for ours also. It will be counted to us who believe in him who raised from the dead Jesus our Lord, who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification. (Romans 4:13-25 ESV)

But none of this is possible without Christ. I have to seek Him more fervently and passionately than I ever have before. He alone was the perfect image of love and I wish to carry that love in my heart for myself and every one else in my life. This is a battle between flesh and spirit, between heart and soul, but I will prevail! Just you watch!
