ok lore time:

his name is broski strider.

he’s the guardian of my other strider oc named dane strider which basically means he’s supposed to protect the kid right make sure he doesn’t die horribly in some ironic twist of fate or accidentally get stabbed by a sword that is like three sizes too big for him or whatever, classic guardian shit but he kinda acts like daves guardian

he hates dane strider like truly festering lowkey murderous “i wish this kid would trip over his own existential dread and disappear” hate but its not just random hate it’s complicated see broski spends years teaching dane how to be “cool” like him how to box how to sword how to do ironic raps while still looking like you could fight a god and win… and every time dane screws it up which is like… every time broski sees it as proof that dane is fundamentally flawed so yeah every time dane screws up broski sees it as proof that the kid is fundamentally flawed, and that’s where the juicy messy part comes in. see broski isn’t just some overprotective guardian who barks orders and hopes the kid survives, nah he’s way more complicated than that. 

like imagine you spent years molding someone into your image, drilling them on ironic raps perfect sword swings boxing stances that could theoretically kill a god if physics weren’t being a total buzzkill and every single day they manage to still trip over their own existential dread or overshoot a punch by like seventeen degrees. yeah broski sees that and a little piece of him dies every time because in his mind it’s not just a fuckup, it’s a reflection of him a mirror of all the ways he feels he failed himself before he even became dane’s guardian.

but it’s not evil evil like broski isn’t some cartoon villain twirling a mustache he’s protective in this weird twisted way where the line between “teach” and “torment” is just blurred enough to make everyone around him uncomfortable it’s like he’s saying, “you will become this perfect ironic rapping fighting machine even if it kills me emotionally watching you fumble for the next decade.” and maybe just maybe he’s lowkey worried that dane’s mistakes are contagious. that if dane keeps being fundamentally flawed, it’ll somehow reflect back on broski’s own identity
