Personal question, do you think black culture is shared too much? Like I just wonder if black people have anymore privacy away from exploitation. I like your site but hearing people use the lingo without the skintone is very weird. Just asking and stopping by, hit me back up when u on privately if you want.

I’ve gotten this question a couple times and I always have the same answer. Black people don’t exactly invite other folks to our culture…people just plop they asses there and call themselves invited. We have set the pace for pop culture ever since we were freed. It has always been “Who’s a white face with a Black aesthetic/swag?” (because Black culture sells but not Black people) Before there was a group of white kids yelling they’re on fleek, there was the Beastie Boys and Vanilla Ice, there was Elvis, there was Benny Goodman. It is by no mistakes that adverts have all taken to pandering to Black audiences …they know if they can get Black people to do it, everyone else will follow suit. Don’t believe me, read the 2012 Nielson television report. We not new to this.

But forget white people for a second and imagine the Black people that grew up in predominantly white environments, imagine them finding this blog and thinking, I am home. Imagine our Black family across the diaspora finding home here; finding identity, feeling as Black as they wanna, understanding Blackness in a more universal way, here. I know that impulse, that reluctance to share what is ours. But we can’t. We have never been able to protect what we create, but that’s why we have never stopped inventing.

This is very interesting to me. As a man of two ethnicities, Negroe(Hebrew Israelite) and Irish, I was identified with my darker melanin side. To call me a mere black man is a disservice. But I digress. The culture, traditions, customs, languages, walk and fashions of the Negroe has always been exploited for as long as can be traced back. Even before the 400 year slavery in Egypt, and another 400 plus years in the Americas. The sun kissed people have been subject to exploitation. When Jesus said “You are the salt of the earth. But if it loses its saltiness how can it be made salty again? Therefore it is good for nothing but to be thrown down and trampled on by people”(Matthew 5:13), who was He talking to?? The chosen people are the salt, or the flavor of this earth. But once our entire heritage was taken from us, we became nothing short of a mockery and chagrined laughingstock of society. I believe since certain truths are coming to light, we will be able to slowly, but surely, regain that sense of regal pride. Not the pride that got us this position. But a pride of dignified self-respect. But hey, I’m a dreamer.
