Wherever you are heading this summer, whether itâs in the UK or far far away, you wonât be short of inspiration...
The weather is sunny (well most of the time!) and we canât wait to embrace the outdoors. We have come up with some innovative ideas to spice up outdoor eating this season: from Italian aperitivos to spiralized salads, you wonât be disappointed by soggy sandwiches this summer!
The traditional hamper
For a quintessential picnic experience you cannot beat a traditional wicker hamper.
Drink Italiano styleÂ
If you want a cocktail without the fuss, an Italian aperitivo is the perfect choice, simply combine Aperol, a bright orange liquour with a tangy flavour (perfect for summer), Prosecco and a dash of soda. For a garnish you can add a slice of orange or even an olive (which tastes yummy at the end of the drink!). Keep your prosecco cold with the Corkcicle contraption below!Â
Create the perfect summer salad with a spiralizer
If you havenât heard of a spiralizer before, it will change your life! Whether you are a vege enthusiast or find it hard to cram in your 5 a day using a spiralizer is a great way to make vegetables tastes scrumptious. It works by cutting a vegetable into thin strands, our favourite to use has to be the humble courgette which you can spiralize to make courgetti, yes courgette in the form of spaghetti! Whilst that might sound bizarre if you havenât tried it before it is a fantastic way to ditch the stodge of pasta and we use it in our summer salad recipe.Â
Simple summer salad: Serves 4Â
Ingredients
- 1 lemon
- 4 courgettesÂ
- 1 clove chopped garlic
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 6 rashers of bacon (for vegetarians substitute this with smoked tofu)
Method:Â
1) Use the spiralizer to chop the courgettes, or use a vegetable peeler to cut thin wide strips.Â
2) Heat the oil in the pan for one minute, then add the garlic.
3) Once the oil has been infused with the garlic add the bacon (or tofu) and cook until done, (usually around 3 minutes for the bacon and 6 minutes for the tofu, consult the packaging).
4) When the bacon or tofu is done add the spiralized courgettes to the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes until soft.
5) Add a squeeze of lemon, which will keep the dish fresh until your picnic.
6) Place in an airtight container once cooled.
Fire up the barbyÂ
The Mon Oncle portable BBQ is a brilliant contraption and designed to be handy to carry to a picnic thanks to itâs briefcase design. It cooks meat much quicker and is easy to clear and store away, a fantastic way to hack your usual barbecue!

Summer styling: accessories to spruce up your look
Now that summer has arrived we are garnering inspiration to add those finishing touches to stylize an outfit. We highlight some popular trends this week that we think are worth embracing this summer, along with some top products to get you going.Â
1) A touch of denim
Unless you have been hiding under a rock it would be hard to not notice that denim has emerged as a major trend this year. We love thinking of different ways to wear this material, moving away from the classic denim jean or jacket to this more original interpretation: a denim kimono by MiH.Â
2) Wearable artÂ
Make a subtle statement with pieces that are akin to a contemporary work of art. Itâs all about getting creative this season so donât shy away from adapting this fun idea into your personal style - express it however you choose.
3) Embrace the platform
Thank the lord for platforms, saving our feet from the horrors of heels in the heat but giving us the increased height we have always desired. This summerâs toes will be very happy indeed! Pair dark designs with black stockings for a more urban rock chick look.Â
4) Nature is your friendÂ
The sun is in the sky and all the earthâs creatures have come out to play. The animal motif is a lovely way to add a naturalistic element to an outfit.Â
5) Layer ringsÂ
The more rings the better as far as we are concerned, pair gold and pastels for a beautiful elegant look, in this case less is more!Â
Get more style inspiration from our collections and find some great ideas to adapt the leading trends to your own personal style.Â

Danish design has emerged as a leading influence in both home and fashion and we are really excited to bring you our edit of independent designers and studios who are bringing the Scandi-vibes to StreetHub! With an emphasis on geometric shapes, functionalism and monochrome tones we have fallen in love with this Scandinavian aesthetic.
Normann
Making the ordinary extraordinary is a difficult thing to do, but Normann achieve this with their simplistic and contemporary designs. Using pieces that are simple yet bold is a fantastic way to adorn your home making it easier to find complimentary elements for your interior space. Â

The most distinctive element of Ferm Livingâs creations is the graphic and linear emphasis in their design. If you like to introduce some more angular-led products, Ferm will have the perfect selection. Adding strong geometric pieces to a room can help re-define and highlight key parts of a room you want to focus on, for example pair this rug with accompanying monochrome tables like below and donât be scared to add a bit of a colour injection with soft furnishings.Â
