I’ve been dealing with my anxiety and depression for years now, and nothing I do makes it budge. I’ve never been good at explaining my mental health to anyone (even my psychologist) without using analogy. It’s like a looming cloud is always hovering over my head. A lot of the time it rains and thunders. Most of the time there is no break between the storms in my head. But the catch is, over time I’ve trained myself to detach myself from negative emotions so now I am in a constant destructive anxious state. It’s like taking shelter in a run down house while a cyclone is raging outside. I am working on this little by little because I’m so used to cutting everything off.

Hi! My names Audrey! I have dysgraphia which is a processing disorder which effects the way my brain communicates with my hands. It’s definitely not life threatening but it makes school much more challenging because it negatively effects my handwriting and spelling. I have had therapy but nothing really helped. It was pretty hard to go through middle school with people making fun of my handwriting and spelling. A lot of times especially when doing group projects by partners wouldn’t let me do any of the artwork or lettering. It gets better though! As soon as I got to high school I started taking Arabic. In Arabic there is a completely different alphabet and the words all look so different. I was assigned a project where I had to make a piece of Arabic Calligraphy and I’ll admit I was very anxious that it would be ugly and I would be judged again. I actually ended up being pretty good at it though! I finished the project and ever since then I have started to feel much more confident about creative projects. I actually signed up for an art class this year! I’ve never told anyone this, about how much the disability has effected my because I thought it would sound like I was trying to gain pity and play a victim, but I felt like this would be a really cool time to share my story!
