I've seen a lot of circlejerk fandoms, and as someone many fandoms would see as "thing fan 2" I figured I oughta take a bite out of this.
The second point for both thing fan 1 and thing fan 2 are debatable at best. This might just be my experiences but most thing fan 1's I've met have very superficial understnadings of "thing" and most of their "knowledge" is centered around popular headcanons, while outright ignoring and denying canon stuff that does fit with said headcanons.
Also, most of these points just reek of a downright cult-like mentality. Apparently to be a true fan you cannot jave anything bad to say about thing or it's creator, and you should put them on a pedestal while forming a parasocial relationship with them. Genuine circlejerk mentality
And what the hell is their problem with rewrites anyway?
Rewrites have been a Thing since stories existed. Like seriously fandoms will eat you alive for making your own rewrite that doesn't conform to the fandom's headcanons and fanon.
So yeah, fuck the cult-like circlejerk that is "fandom culture".
