I have a new fic idea, based on guess featuring billie eilish.

Regulus rolls his eyes, laughing. “For me, you dimwit,” he counters. “My foot’s going to fall off from the cold.”

“Poor you. The travesty!” James says, already standing over to Regulus’ side of the bed and peeking at the socks Regulus is wearing. “Snakes, really?”

Regulus blushes furiously, swiping his foot at him and aiming to kick him away. “Shove off, they’re cute.”

“Snakes aren’t cute,” James counters, wrinkling his nose in distaste, and inching closer to see the sock more clearly. Damn these glasses, he can’t see shite. Oh, Cartoon snakes. With little glasses and baby fangs.

James smirks, standing back up and leaning against the side of the bed. “I stand corrected. Those snakes are cute.”

“Oh, come on baby,” James whines, pouting and looking straight at Regulus. “I promise you’ll have so much fun!”

Fuck. James is not playing fair right now. He knows Regulus can’t say no to him when he looks like that. Sneaky git.

“Can’t we just go for a normal swim?” Regulus offers.

“Then it won’t be skinny-dipping,” James counters. “I promise you’ll enjoy it!”

Regulus clicks his tongue, determined to make his boyfriend work for it a little more. “Hm, I don’t think so Jamie,” he hums. “What if someone sees us naked?”

“Let them,” James replies, looking like he’s already won. “You’re mine anyways.”

Bless James’ heart. “The police, my love,” Regulus counters. “What if the police sees?”

“I won’t get jealous, I promise.”

Regulus chuckles, rolling his eyes. “I don’t think that’ll matter much when we get arrested for public indecency, Jamie.”

James pouts again, getting close to Regulus and wrapping his arms around his waist. “Pleeease, baby? I’ll make you that lasagna you really like afterwards.”

Regulus rests his head on top on James’ shoulder smirking to himself. “Deal,” he says, pressing a kiss to James’ cheek. “I was going to do it either way.”

James: Ooooooh, what are you having?

Remus: Just a sandwich, why?

James: What?? Come to Italy, I’ll cook you some real food.

Regulus reaches for the chocolate, studying the wrapping—almonds. A good choice. Unwrapping it, he passes one of the bars to James, who accepts it while hovering next to the bed. "So, are you going to sit or not?" Regulus says, gesturing to the vacant companion chair, almost always empty since he was first admitted to the hospital.

James looks surprised but complies, taking a seat. He starts eating the chocolate, stealing occasional glances at Regulus. “Spit it out, Potter,” he says.

He gulps, swallowing the chocolate. “Again, I’m sorry, Regulus. I truly didn’t mean it.”

“I know, James. You’re already forgiven, don’t worry anymore,” Regulus reassures him. “Now eat your chocolate in silence, or I’ll eat it all alone.”

At the threat, James perks up significantly. He smiles at Regulus, extending his hand for another piece of chocolate, and Regulus obliges. While he might not particularly like James Potter, he doesn't want him to be upset either.

The room doesn't feel the same when James' smile isn't there to warm it up.

James: Um, baby… What do you mean?

Regulus: I won’t be able to drink solids for a while after I get my piercing done.

James, confused: Huh, I didn’t know that.

James: Lucky I got my ears pierced when I was little.

Remus, laughing: Lip piercing, James. Not the ears.

Sirius: did Regulus get out again?

Regulus, offended: excuse you? I am not a monkey.

Sirius, smug: well, you sure look like one.
