i don't normally expect deep pathos from dimension 20, i know that's just not the show's main interest, but wow the ccod finale just felt so... strange.
it was a really funny episode, sure, but it's so disappointing to see so many plot and character threads just go nowhere. inevitable given the sandbox setup of the season, but 14 episodes just isn't enough for a sandbox campaign. hell, 20 episodes might not have been enough. the full pivot into bit reveals at the end didn't help.
what also didn't help was the general disinterest in the setting from the party. tension is something blm can struggle with in general as a dm (see neverafter) but here it really felt like the party being vampires just didn't matter. there was the whole thing about the camarilla checking in on them, sure, but then ermine went out like a bitch because blm was super permissive with how bat child's powers work. and then of course there was never really a resolution for the whole coterie v camarilla thing.
i think the main thing that actually bothers me though, and the reason i don't just throw up my hands and say "at least it was super funny" is that part near the end of the final fight where blm just keeps bringing in rules from dnd and says that no actual vampire fans are watching at this point. just felt so cynical and such a harsh dismissal of vtm as a system and setting. like, he doesn't have to follow the lore 1:1, but at least pretend like you give a shit about the system.
