it is a campaign and movement founded by Sade Shakur. This permanent project is intended to unite both the natural and non-natural hair communities by using identifiers of our hair preferences. Fro-life refers to the individual who believes in principle that one’s hair should be worn naturally why Fro-choice refers to the individual who believes that one’s hair should be worn according to his or her preference, whether natural, braided, weaved or permed. Understanding and respecting each other’s preferences also us to focus on more significant matters in our communities. It highlights hair as a symbol of beauty, acceptance and self-love rather than ascribing too much value to what’s on our heads. This is a meaningful campaign, focusing less on what we do with our hair but why we do it. Love and care needs to be extended to all men and women, even those outside of the natural hair community. We encourage self-reflection and a healthy self-concept regardless of your hair choice.
