A young Hiroshi Fujimoto (藤本弘), later known as Fujiko F. Fujio (藤子・F・不二雄), was deeply captivated by this iconic submarine scene from Ryūichi Yokoyama’s (横山隆一) classic manga series Fuku-chan (フクちゃん). He frequently visited the theater with his sketchbook to meticulously copy frames from the 1944 anime film Fuku-chan’s Submarine (フクちゃんの潜水艦). This panel is a later recreation by Fujimoto himself, illustrating his childhood passion that profoundly influenced his own manga career.
