  Dry. That’s all that is going through her mind right now. The air, the ground, the dust that gets kicked up by boots and wind: It’s all dry. 

  She was use to this desert giving her nothing but a cough and dirt through the day, but it still did its best to annoy her and make her retreat to the little diner tucked into the back. Her men followed, as usual, except for a handful who thought they could withstand the heat and convection like air just a bit longer. Probably could, seeing as they were thin and barely had a shirt between them all. 

                             Let them play, they ain’t got a thing to play with. 

  That’s what she muttered as they exited and disappeared into the haze, leaving her be with those remaining. Let them play, she keeps thinking as she has them pour her another drink and take it down without a breath between gulps. 

                                                   There’s nothing out here. 

  She doesn’t know how long she’s there hunched and tracing engravings on he glass, but she does snap to reality she hears what sounds like footsteps coming up to the door. The head turns, and her eyes focus on the figure getting closer to frosted glass. For a brief moment, she assumes it’s her men, ready to come back inside and apologizing for the moment of freedom, looking for water. She assumes she’ll need to give them a tongue lashing to straighten them out, and be a good example. 

  Just as the bell rings she parts her lips to speak, but quickly shut them as the figure appears. No, not one of her men- A stranger with hair as red as fire. A stranger… With one of her fools in their hand and looking rather unwell. Probably dead. 

      Write-off.

  The quip gets Ashe to look up more and pull back her lips in a smug smirk. Her free hand goes to her hip and rests there, only pushing back the coat enough to show the butt of the gun hiding underneath. “Might, but that only brings up anoth’r question as to how you found him.”

The woman is rather striking, she must admit, as her gaze lingers, waiting for her to respond. The thick, dark makeup around her eyes and the bold red of her lipstick makes Mera think of war paint, and it occurs to her that she, in all her travels, has yet to see anyone quite like this woman. The confidence she wears like armor is almost as pervasive as the heat. Were the circumstances different, the queen muses, she might have taken interested in this woman for other reasons.  She looked as though she could handle herself in a fight, and that she had more than a few stories she could tell. 

 As it was, Mera's bright blue gaze dropped to the woman's hip as her hand settled there -- just as the woman had intended, she realized -- showing off the gun she kept concealed. An attempt at intimidation. How...quaint. In response, Mera slowly dragged her gaze upwards, meeting the other woman's eye evenly, before arching a brow, unimpressed. As if to say 'is that all?' 

She had seen far worse than human guns, and the shimmering green armor she wore tucked beneath what had passed for causing surface clothes upon her last visit. The threat meant nothing to her. 

"Your men found me," she answered smoothly, not so much as a hint of fear present in her voice, despite the looming threat of violence. "Unless you meant to inquire as to the state in which he was at the time -- agitated, I suppose, would be the most accurate," she offered up, casually advancing, stepping through the cafe, ignoring anyone but the woman to whom she spoke.
