Get ready to get groovin'! The Victory Park Summer Concerts are back this year! For 12 weeks during the summer months, the Stockton Concerts In Victory Park Inc. puts on an entertaining series of concerts on Wednesday evenings starting at 6 pm, FREE of charge. The free, family-friendly concerts are held behind the Haggin Museum in Victory Park and play a variety of music ranging from Latin jazz to lite rock to bluegrass, with a taste of folk, new age, and country. The Spire at Hunter's Square has moved! The spire that was at Hunter’s Square for 48 years is now at the roundabout on Miner Street. When it was originally designed in 1965 by Architect Glen Mortenson, the sculpture was meant to be a part of Stockton’s street furniture, which would include “fountains, sculptures, benches and other items.” In 1968, when the city built the new San Joaquin County Courthouse at Hunter's Square, the Spire became a part of the architecture of this new building. It adorned the central plaza of downtown Stockton for 48 years before its recent relocation to make way for the new courthouse. After its removal from Hunter's Square, the sculpture was preserved by the City of Stockton. In 2017, when the City Public Works Department began working on improvements to Miner Street, they decided to move The Spire to this historic roundabout in downtown Stockton. — view on Instagram https://bit.ly/3rRHmx7
