9 adults and 5 children of The Hearth of Devon assembled for a blot to Woden on Dartmoor this weekend. The Neolithic stone row served as a procession path leading to a cist/dolmen which we used as a harrow (ON: hörgr). The ritual area was demarcated by hazel poles and a we-band (ON: vébönd). The hlaut bowl is positioned in the centre of the harrow with a flame to the South, the mead horns to the West, a silver oath ring to the East facing the supplicants at Delling's door, and a Woden stapol on the North side of the harrow.

Bog bodies are so eerie and fascinating. I took these photos of Old Crogham man’s hand in Dublin. He died between 2nd-4th c BC. Learn more in this film 

Visited the most extraordinary medieval cathedral today. Thought the 12th century stained glass window would be the highlight but actually it was the functional mechanical clock from the middle ages with little knights on horse going around. Unbelievable ingenuity for the time. The image of a Mother and baby is eternal, sanctified in the christian iconography of Madonna and child, but far older. Even recognisable in our genetic relatives, the great apes. I took this photo in the Sumatran jungle where I learned that if her baby dies, the Orangutan mother will carry the corpse around for days until the skin falls from the bone, refusing to accept the reality of death.
