still waking up wet

the boy is just starting to feel the burn

Treat me like a little boy. Help me me pick out what to wear, and help me put on my clothes. Ask me if I have to go to the bathroom before we go on trips in the car, because little boys don’t always remember to stop when they’re playing. Ask  me which superhero is on my underpants today, and wonder out loud whether they’ll have to fight the Evil Pee Monster.

Check to make sure my pants aren’t wet every so often.

p loudly and say, “Uh-oh!” when you find I couldn’t stay dry. Take me by the hand to go change into something dryer, and more appropriate. Put on my pull-ups gently, but firmly, that you brought against my protests. Reassure me that it’s ok to have accidents sometimes, that’s just what little boys do. Give me my paci to calm me down when I fuss about my new, thicker underwear. Help me take my pants off so you can check my pull-ups when we get home. Ask me when my pull-ups got wet ,and how, and why didn’t I say anything to you. Take me over your lap when I admit I didn’t even try to make it to the potty. Pull down my wet pull-ups and spank me while commenting on how disappointed you are that I don’t seem to care about not going pee pee in my pants. Hold me close, and gently rub my red bottom and tell me it’s ok while I cry softly into your chest. Tell me that it’s bedtime, and therefore diaper time. Drag me away while I protest that I don’t need diapers, and it’s still daylight outside.

“Please Dad I have had enough.”

“I will tell you when you have had enough, now get those underpants down….. NOW!”

The hairbrush can be a wicked implement and whilst it never works, I find it impossible to not put my hands back to try and block, even if it just gives my bottom a couple of seconds respite!
