Santana released a muted hum around the straw tucked between her lips. ”Hey, babe.” The alcohol carved a heated path to her stomach. The recent schedule of late nights out with her girlfriend was starting cement itself as a routine in Santana’s life. She was already three shots down as she slipped her arm around Dani’s waist. ”Not bad at all! Where’d you dig ‘em up?” Santana took another sip of her tequila pineapple before offering the straw to Dani.
Dani's lips fell around the straw and she took a small sip. She wasn't quite comfortable enough in the position to have much to drink on the job, despite the boys encouraging her to. "Playing on a bench in the park. Their cases were full of cash." Her smile was large and proud, the former stress work used to bring completely gone from her body. She leaned over and stole a kiss from her girlfriend. "Once they start their last set, we can leave if you want."

"Hey gorgeous." Dani's back hit the bar rail with a wide smile, her arm wrapping around her back. "Enjoying yourself?" This had become a tradition. On the weekends when Dani would have to stay at the bar late, Santana would join her. Dani had not only gotten used to having her girlfriend there, but loved it. They went from mere minutes togetehr a week to having every night together. She nodded to the stage. "They're not bad, are they?"
Timeframe: 6/25/2021, Mid-afternoon [Currently in the RP, we are a month after this]
Location: The Verano-Lopez apartment
Notes: You never know how your directions will turn. [After a series of bad weeks at the office, Santana loses her cool, and faces the consequences of her actions. We did it like this so we could just move past this angst and go forward. Sorry to disappoint.]
The only thing that pulled Dani out of the book she had been reading was the loud ‘bang’ that filled the apartment. Since switching jobs, Dani’s schedule got stranger, but more reliable. Sundays and Mondays she was always off. Tuesday through Thursday, she worked basically 10-6, sometimes a little later to make sure the day was getting off easily. Fridays and Saturdays, she usually wasn’t home until two or later, but most days that was by choice. And out of nerves. She was still so new to this, and if Santana was ever home, she was asleep. Dani held no resentment over that fact, though. She knew that Santana’s work basically had her by the balls right now, and she was just doing everything she could to be there for her girlfriend. Partner. Dani had to shake her head at that. Girlfriend lately sounded just too… casual… for Dani’s taste. And partner seemed so official. It literally had been years. Even without a label, it had been years of the two dating.
Dani heard the next two slams – one for the liquor cabinet, then the fridge. Santana had, most likely, thought about making a mixed drink for herself then gave up, going for a beer. Those two slams were the sign of a horrible day at work, Dani had come to notice, and quickly slipped out of bed, walking over to the door to study Santana.
The lawyer was fumbling with a beer that was most definitely not a twist off, even if Santana was trying with all her might to get it off with the towel. She then spotted the bottle opener and got the top off with minimal spillage and more mumbled swear words. She went to the couch, immediately falling back with another cuss before taking a long drink from the beer. She still hadn’t even noticed the other woman in the room, as her eyes were shut as she pinched the bridge of her nose. Dani knew this routine. A beer was Santana’s “I can’t do anything more than open a bottle” drink, and never anything different. So, she pushed off the door frame and went to the liquor cabinet, pulling down the alcoholic mixings for Santana’s margarita before quickly mixing them, and the lime juice, together. She poured an extra shot, since she knew Santana that well, before carrying them over to the woman. From behind, she pulled the sweating bottle from Santana’s hand. The woman looked up, obviously about to snap at Dani, who just shut her up with a quick kiss as she replaced the bottle with what she knew Santana really wanted.
Part of Santana knew she shouldn’t be shocked. Dani had proven long ago that she did, in fact, know her better than most people ever tried to. That fact didn’t help matters when the alcohol was ripped from her hands. But Dani’s lips were soon on hers, and the simplicity of the action seemed to calm Santana’s racing thoughts and pounding head. By the time Dani pulled away, and walked away, a new glass was in Santana’s hand and Dani had settled herself on the other end of the couch, casually sipping the beer Santana once had with her hand outstretched, a small glass hanging from her fingertips. Santana recognized the shot after half a second and happily snatched it, throwing it back easily. The two had yet to exchange words that evening, but Santana needed this. Just something to calm her down. The shot was gone and a few moments later, so was half of the drink Dani had just mixed. Those few moments were long enough for Santana’s outlet to switch from the alcohol in her hand to the fact that her girlfriend definitely wasn’t wearing a bra. Or underwear. How had she not noticed this before?
The growled “Come here” were the first two words uttered that night. Santana’s hands had skillfully slipped under Dani’s thighs and before the blonde knew it, she was letting out a yelp and was on her back, staring up at Santana with wide eyes. She knew the look in Santana’s eyes. There was a hint of desperation, a lot of anger, even more lust, and a bit of pain. Santana’s frustrations needed to be taken out, and due to many reasons – the biggest one being the fact that Dani was irrevocably in love with the woman hovering over her, the slightly lesser one being the fact that she had missed Santana terribly due to work – Dani went along with it. Somehow in their changing positions and Santana hastily pulling on Dani’s (or Santana’s, neither was sure) shirt, the beer spilled along Dani’s chest. Santana immediately leaned in, licking it up and placing nips along the skin. Running her teeth and tongue everywhere as hands groped, searching for the control Santana so desperately needed.
Dani had let Santana take all the control, only reciprocating when she thought that was what Santana wanted, never moving to top her, but pretending to put up a fight when it was necessary. She was too busy taking in the feeling of Santana just being there. Santana needing her, despite her reasons for it.
Santana was only acutely aware of Dani’s differing actions, but was grateful none-the-less. The sex wasn’t loving. They weren’t making love. They were fucking. Rather, Santana was fucking Dani. Somewhat roughly. It didn’t seem to stop. They started on the couch, ended up on the floor (as usual. That couch was too small.) Dani’s back had hit multiple doors and walls. She was almost certain there’d be a bruise there in the morning. Even as they were finishing yet another round in the bed – both had lost count of the amount of orgasms Santana managed to collect that night – and Santana had started to pull away, her burning rage having simmered down to merely coals by then, Dani had shook her head, pulling Santana in once again.
“One more,” Dani panted against Santana’s lips. No, she hadn’t been able to catch her breath in over an hour, and her legs were still trembling and incredibly weak there was no way she’d be able to switch their positions and top the woman finally, but it had been far too long since they were even close to each other. Santana didn’t argue, of course, just lifted a concerned eyebrow that immediately disappeared as Dani’s fingers buried themselves inside without warning. This round slowed, even if slightly, enough for it to switch back from physical to intimate, which had them kissing slowly as they worked each other over meticulously.
It was probably only minutes later that Santana had collapsed onto the mattress, just far enough away from Dani that they could each regain enough of themselves to move, but close enough that each had a hand on the other. Eventually, Santana turned, resting her head on Dani’s shoulder and wrapping her arm around her girlfriend’s waist. “Thank you,” she whispered, kissing the glistening bare skin on her chest.
Dani somehow managed to wrap an arm around Santana and pull her close. “Oh no,” she whispered. “Thank you. I’ve missed you. And I know you needed it,” Dani whispered, turning her head to kiss Santana’s forehead.
Santana couldn’t help but chuckle, snuggling up a little tighter. “I fucking love you,” she mumbled through a yawn. Her eyes were closing when Dani spoke.
“And don’t think you’re getting away with not telling me what’s gotten you so worked up.”
Santana let out a groan, burying her face into Dani’s skin before pulling back. She let out a huff, running a hand through her hair as she stared up at the ceiling. “I lost my cool today. In a bad way,” Santana admitted after a while. Dani had turned onto her side, ready to listen intently.
Santana recounted the story of the last week, which led up to the last few hours. “It’s the same fucking guy, D,” she said through tears. Dani knew what she was referencing. The little boy that basically sent Santana to law school. “He was going to walk again and I fucking lost it. I cornered in. Started screaming at him. The DA found me and… god, I could have been disbarred,” Santana groaned, rolling her eyes.
Dani reached out, running her fingers softly over Santana’s abs. “What happened, sweetheart?” she asked gently, trying to pull the story out of the brunette.
“He made me follow him back to his office. I was sure he was going to contact the bar immediately. He sat me down and pulled some papers out. He said that I need to either turn in my resignation now, or take a six month leave and figure out if I can handle it,” she said bitterly. “I basically got fired, D!” she scoffed, getting herself worked up again.
It took all of her strength, but Dani moved over Santana, pinning her down. She pressed a couple kisses over her face, making sure to stay gentle. “You weren’t fired, San. You just got a six month break. You’ve been killing yourself, babe. Take this as a blessing, I beg of you,” said Dani as she looked into her eyes. “You’ve got six months to make a decision on your own. Six whole months to sit around the apartment and hang out with me at the club. Six months. I really think this could be good for you. Yeah, I know it sucks,” she said quickly, judging the look on her face. “But this is better than something on your record. Than getting in trouble with the bar. You weren’t sleeping. You were only eating when I could bring you a meal. You’re a fantastic lawyer, San. But this is your chance to figure out how to do that and be a human at the same time.”
Dani could tell by the look on Santana’s face that a few of her words had hit home, but she wasn’t ready to give in just yet. With a sigh, Dani moved off of Santana, but Santana’s body rolled with her. This caused a smile to pull at her lips as Dani turned her back to Santana, letting the taller girl take her place behind the blonde. Their bodies fit together perfectly, Santana’s arm wrapping tightly around Dani’s back. A few kisses her placed on her shoulder blades and the back of her neck and their eyes closed quickly, the night giving them a satisfying exhaustion. Just before she slipped asleep though, Santana reached out and hit a switch on the alarm clock. For the first time in months, Santana was sleeping in with her girlfriend.

Re: Thank You
Friends and Colleagues:
During my years with The Agency Group, I moved up from an intern to the head of talent search. I have treasured the work I have done with the agency, the people I have met, and the musicians I have had the honor of working with.
However, the time has come for a change of pace. As of June 1st, I will no longer be the head on talent search at The Agency Group. I will be starting a new position at Headquarters in Greenwich Village, as the programming manager.
At that time, my contact information will change. My new email is [email protected]. Any other changes I'll make sure to inform. After June 1st, the contact person for anything regarding The Agency Group or the musicians I represented will be Stefanie Willis.
"I should not have to explain this game to a lesbian..." Dani mutters as she pushes up from her chair. She crosses to Santana, settling herself into the other woman's lap. "Kissing. Grinding. Anything. But the second your hand moves to my ass, my thigh, anything. You lose. And you march that fine ass into the bedroom and I can do anything I want to you."

I don't care if it was to get me to LA. You would have never forgiven me if I pulled that kind of stunt with you.... You can't hold out like that for long...
Tagging: Dani Verano, Steph Willis, Johnathan Willcox, David Helbach, and Lee Kish
Timeframe: 5/19/2021, Mid-afternoon
Location: Headquarters, The Agency Group offices
Notes: Change is hardest on those watching [Dani meets with the guys from Headquarters, then tries to talk to Steph about the move, who doesn't take it well.
"Johnathan?" Dani asked, flashing the man a smile as she shook his hand.
"John, please," he corrected.
"Then call me Dani. I haven't gone by Danielle in years," she said with a small, charming laugh. John gestured to the other two men in the room.
"This is David Helbach and Lee Kish. Dave is our general manager, and Lee is in charge of operations. They won't be here for long, but I figured it would be good for you to get to know them a little bit," John said as Dani shook the hands of the other two men.
Pleasantries were exchanged quickly and they started talking music tastes and the vision for the club, the three of them hitting it off well with the genres they would want to see, and even giving Dani free reign if she felt it necessary to switch it up. "You've brought in some amazing acts. We looked back at some of the people you've represented. You've got good taste, and obviously a decent business sense for getting to sell some of these acts," Lee said with a laugh.
"Well, thanks. My passion has always been music, so I hope I have a good ear."
"One question for you," David said, the more serious of the two. "Think you can handle working in a sea of men? John is in and out, he's mostly a head hunter, but me and Lee?" It was edging on a joke, but there was an undertone if sincerity in the question.
"I just have one question for the two of you," Dani countered. "Can you handle working with me?"
_________________________________________________________
With a heavy fist, Dani knocked on the open door to Steph's office before stepping inside. "Got a sec, Steph?" Dani asked, a little nervous.
"'Course," her friend said, flashing her a kind smile. Dani closed the door and Steph started talking again. "Something up with Santana? Oh... before I forget... Next month, there's an event in Ohio we need to go to," she said, flipping through her calendar.
"No, everything with Tana is fine. She's busy with work, but we're good." She bit her lip. "Next month? I... I'm probably not going to make it to that."
Steph looked up. "I haven't told you the dates yet," she said with a small smirk. "Come on, a trip without your wife will be fun," she chuckled. "I'm sorry. Only new girlfriend. Totally not serious or anything."
Dani rolled her eyes. "Hey, we're living together now. Shut up," she laughed. "No, I know you haven't..." She sat down on the corner of her desk. "Steph... I got a job offer. And... I'm going to take it."
"Wait, seriously? You finally got her..." she trailed off, taking in the last part of Dani's statement. "Wait, seriously?" she asked again, her words laced in betrayal. "Dani, what the hell? We're doing good. I've got a few people lined to fill that gap from the guys we lost. What agency offered you? How could you not tell me you were looking?" she pressed, shaking her head.
"Yeah, the agency is doing fine but Steph... we stopped working well together a while ago," she said, shaking her head. "We lost those guys and numbers suddenly got too real for you. It's not about the music for you anymore and all the bottom line. We have two different visions and one of us has to back off. And that one of us is me," she said with a shrug. "I hadn't even started looking yet. Headquarters emailed me. They need a programming manager. I'm not going to be competing with you. And I'm not going to steal your clients. You'll have an in at a major club now," she tried to pitch to her to lessen the blow.
"Dani, come on. We're supposed to be in this together."
"Yeah, but we're not. And it's damaging the company. Now you can run it they way you want to and I can still be focused on the music. It's a win-win."
"When were you going to tell me you were looking?" Steph asked, shaking her head.
"When I actually started looking." She sighed, glancing down. "I took the job, Steph. I've got two more weeks here to help you find a replacement. I suggest promoting one of the interns. Kelly? She's good. I would know, I've been training her for two years."
"Can we just talk about this later, Dani?" Steph asked, busying herself with her paperwork.
"Steph..." Dani sighed, shaking her head. "This has nothing to do with our friendship."
Steph looked up at her, her eyes narrowed. "Yeah, it does, Dani. If you'll excuse me, I have a replacement to find. You're still expected to be scouting for the next two weeks." She picked up her phone, dialing out as a sign of the end of the conversation. With a sigh, Dani pushed up from the corner of the desk and left the office.

Notes: In your arms, everything's fine... [Dani plans a relaxing evening for the two of them, as Santana is extremely stressed from work. She has some news to share.]
"Thanks, Donna," Dani said with a kind smile, handing the sign in sheet back to the receptionist at Santana's office. "Any time, Dani. Make that woman of yours leave the office sometime this week? I think I caught her trying to microwave a fax earlier today," she joked. Dani chuckled softly, tapping the desk. "That's the plan. Let's just see if it actually works this time," she said before disappearing down the familiar hallways towards Santana's office. This case had the woman extremely stressed out, to the point that Dani hadn't seen her outside of waking up in the middle of the night when Santana crawled into bed two nights ago.
Dani knocked on Santana's office door as she stepped inside. "Hey gorgeous," Dani greeted with a soft smile, closing the door behind her as she walked in. "I come with your soy latte, turkey breast and avocado sandwich, and a salad for later," she explained, putting one of the bags in front of Santana before stealing a kiss. Her girlfriend seemed so exhausted. Make up barely concealed the dark circles, and Dani was fairly certain she had lost weight since they returned from California.
Santana
Santana had barley registered the sound of her office door opening and closing; it was Dani's voice that drew her eyes away from the brief she was furiously typing. "Hey," she hummed, a weak smile tugging on her lips. Santana's smile grew as Dani placed the bag of food on her desk. "You're a goddess," Santana praised, lifting the bag from its place and setting it on the floor near her file cabinet. Their trip to California, though much needed and relaxing, had Santana working double time to catch up on the case her bosses were focused on. "You must've read my mind. Or heard my stomach growl from 39th street," she teased, taking the cup of coffee from Dani's hand. Work wasn't going to let up anytime soon and Santana needed another dose of caffeine. "To what do I owe the pleasure of your company?" Santana pushed out of her chair and rounded her desk to sit on the corner of the glass top. She sipped slowly, the triple shot racing into her bloodstream.
Dani
Dani shrugged playfully, Santana's smile already relieving some of her worries. "I kinda am," she chuckled, smiling at her girlfriend. She bit her lip as the food was placed to the side, hoping Santana would just eat it now. "Or I know you well enough to know that when you're stressed you forget to eat." She watched as Santana rounded the corner of her desk and stood right at her knees, careful not to push any boundaries while the building was full of Santana's colleagues. She rested her hands gently at Santana's hips. "Missing you," she answered honestly. "I haven't had ten minutes with you in the last week. Thought I'd steal some. Plus I'm avoiding my office and Steph, and you're the perfect excuse." She didn't want to discuss the possible job change here, with Santana's mind most likely still on the document Dani pulled her from. "I got myself some lunch too. If you're not too busy, I can stay here and we can eat together, but I get it if you have to get back to that," she said softly, nodding to the computer.
Santana
"And the truth comes out," Santana quipped, setting her coffee aside to run her hands along Dani's arms. It was true though; since their return from visiting the Berry-Fabray clan, the two had hardly spent any decent time together. Santana chewed her bottom lip, not wanting to hurt Dani's feelings. "You know I'd love that," she started, her left hand making its way to Dani's jaw. She smoothed her thumb over Dani's cheek as she continued. "But I was gonna just work through lunch and try to be out of here by 11 tonight. I'm just on such a time crunch," she explained, simultaneously pulling Dani closer while leaning forward from the desk. "Don't be mad," she plead, her lips brushing against Dani's.
Dani
Dani's eyes closed for a moment, a content sigh falling from her chest at Santana's simple touch. "As if there was any doubt." Her cheek turned into Santana's hand sightly, enough to press a soft kiss to the heel of her hand, her eyes flickering up to lock with Santana's. Her lips pursed sightly in disappointment, but happily stepped closer to the other woman. She immediately pressed her lips to Santana's, shaking her head as she pulled away. "I'm not mad, love," she whispered, reaching up to smooth Santana's hair out of her face. "I'm just worried about you. You need to sleep and relax. You're not going to make it to the trial if you keep going this way," she hummed in concern. "Try to come home a little earlier than eleven?" she asked. "Just so you can sleep more than five hours and I can see you for once. I don't have any gigs I have to be at tonight, so I'll be there whenever you get off."
Santana
Santana's hand dropped back down Dani's shoulder and arm. She laced their fingers together while listening to Dani speak. "I know," she agreed, the lack of sleep felt in every shift of her muscles. "I promise I'll try to get out of here early. I have a fantastic woman waiting at home for me." Santana lifted Dani's hand to her lips and kissed along her girlfriend's defined knuckles. "Thank you for lunch, baby. I'm sorry I won't taste much of it since I'll be in inhaling it." Her words were light and playful, but they held the weight of truth. Santana pressed another peck to Dani's lips before sliding off the desk and making her way back to her chair.
Dani
"And she's usually waiting naked. Remember that," she hummed, accompanying her giggle with a wink. "You're welcome, San. I don't care if you don't taste it, I just want you to eat something that isn't horrible for you for the day." She kissed her softly again, stepping back to let Santana back to her desk. Their usual playfulness would have caused Dani to trap Santana there, but when she was in this kind of mood, Dani knew much better. She walked towards the door before casting a warm smile back. "I love you, sweets. I'll see you tonight," Dani said before disappearing from the office, letting Santana work.
Santana
Santana's quick "I love you" followed Dani out the door. It wasn't her intention to cut Dani's impromptu visit short, but the emails flooding her inbox were incessant. Santana worked nonstop throughout the afternoon and evening, choosing to snack on the meals that Dani had brought her. It wasn't until 10:45pm that she realized her promise to Dani was slowly inching out of reach. "Fuck," she groaned, saving her document and closing her laptop. Santana sent off a series of apology texts as she packed up her briefcase. She hailed the nearest cab and made it through the apartment door at 11:17pm.
"I'm sorry I'm late, baby," she started, shrugging off her coat and slipping her heels off in the entryway. "I know I promised, but..." Santana's words dropped off as she walked into the living room to find Dani snuggled beneath a blanket on the couch. "Sorry," she whispered again, her words a heavy sigh. A gentle flickering caught her eye and Santana followed the trick of light into the bathroom. Lit tea candles surrounded the tub and fragrant bath salts sat waiting for use. Though beautiful, Santana's mind immediately went to the worst possible scenario. "Dani!" Santana immediately walked out of the bathroom, her emotions in overdrive. "What the hell were you thinking?"
Dani
Dani's chiming phone went unanswered, lying on the coffee table next it's sleeping owner. Her laptop open and dead on her stomach, having fallen asleep reading on Headquarters as she waited for Santana to come home. She didn't wake to Santana's gentle apology, only jerking awake when Santana yelled. Her laptop tumbled to the floor. "Fuck," Dani groaned, blinking at Santana. "Baby, what's going on? What's wrong? Sorry, I feel asleep," she mumbled as she pushed up to a sitting position, still trying to figure out how she angered her girlfriend.
Santana
"You can't just light candles and then decide to take a nap," Santana barked, her sleep deprivation amping up her irritability. "Do you know how fucking dangerous that is? Aside from the fact that you could be killed, I'd be liable for all damages. I'm not fucking made of money, D." Santana paced, the adrenaline she'd been running on starting to ebb through her system.
Dani
"Woah, sweetie," Dani hummed, standing up from the couch. "They are tea candles. Surrounded by water," she said slowly. "I didn't mean to fall asleep, San. I was reading while I waited for you." She sighed, rubbing the back of her neck. "I just wanted it to be perfect for you when you came home," she said with a shrug, her lips pursed a little.
Santana
Santana's body deflated, her anger leaving as quickly as it came. "I'm sorry," she mumbled, walking towards Dani and hooking her arms around Dani's neck. "I'm sorry for yelling. I'm just...I'm sorry." Santana turned her face into Dani's neck and breathed deeply. "It is perfect, baby. You made it perfect."
Dani
Dani wrapped her arms around Santana's waist immediately, pulling her close. "Shh, baby," she whispered, rubbing her back. "It's okay. I know you're stressed, love." She sighed softly, closing her eyes as she stood there, holding Santana for what seemed to be the first time since California. And they weren't even fighting. She pulled away slightly to press a long kiss to her lips, her hands sneaking up to ease Santana's suit coat off of her shoulders. "You need to relax, San. So we're going to get into that bath, I'm going to hold you, and we're going to talk about anything that isn't your job, okay?"
Santana
Santana opened her mouth to the kiss, welcoming Dani's calmness to wash over her. It was moments like these that Santana couldn't ever fathom being without the other woman. "Okay," Santana hushed, nodding. She allowed Dani to unbutton her shirt as she gently tugged at the waistband of Dani's underwear. "I've missed this. You." Santana's shirt dropped to the floor followed quickly by her bra and then Dani's shirt. They were slowly migrating towards the bathroom, their clothes trailing behind them.
Dani
Dani smiled into the kiss, Santana's warmth coursing through her as they walked to the bathroom, their slow kiss matching their pace to the bathroom. She popped the button on Santana's slacks once they were in the glowing room, the candles still calmly flickering against the water. "I've really missed you. I just... I need you close to me right now," she admitted softly. "Please..." she breathed, guiding Santana's slacks off slowly.
Santana
Santana stepped out of her pants and dropped her hands from around Dani's neck to hook her thumb into her own underwear. In one swift motion they joined her slacks which had been kicked aside. "I'm right here baby," Santana assured, returning her arms around Dani's neck and pressing their bare bodies together; breasts against breasts, belly against belly.
Dani
Dani hummed lowly, her cheek resting against Santana's as she held her close. She pulled back enough to give another long kiss to Santana. After a long moment, Dani stepped back, helping her into the tub before sliding in behind her. "I picked up new bath salts today just for you. Lavender so you finally relax," she explained in a whisper, pressing a kiss to her shoulder.
Santana
The warm water coursed around Santana's body and made her muscles loosen almost instantaneously. "You're too good to me," Santana answered, leaning back against Dani. "Why are you so good to me?" Santana closed her eyes and continuously slid her hands along Dani's calves and shins. Water breached the rim of the tub and spilled onto the floor, causing a few of the candles to flicker out.
Dani
Dani hummed softly, her arms immediately wrapping around Santana's waist. A low, deep sigh fell from her chest as their bodies molded together again. Weeks like these were the ones that reminded Dani just what Santana did for her. And were a screaming reminder to never give her a reason to leave. "Because I love you," she mumbled in response, her lips still on Santana's shoulder.
Santana: Those three words were all it took for Santana's last shred of composure to sever. Trails of hot tears carved down her cheeks and she tried, but failed, to keep her breathing even. "I love you too. So much." Santana reached her arm back and grabbed a fistful of Dani's hair. It was an I need this, I need you, I need us, tug that conveyed everything Santana couldn't say. "So much," she repeated, craning her neck and pulling Dani into a deep kiss.
Dani
Dani tightened her hold around Santana's waist as she was brought into the deep kiss, immediately reciprocating the neediness Santana was feeling as well. She pushed into her more, deepening the kiss before pulling back. "I'm not going anywhere, baby," she whispered, resting her forehead against Santana's. "You're stuck with me, okay? Every long case. Every win. Every lose. If you decide you don't want to do this anymore and want to go back to bartending..." she listed off, "I'll be here. Every night."
Santana
Santana's eyes closed again, the anxious knot in her chest loosening. She had never been great at controlling her emotions or expressing her feelings verbally, but with Dani she didn't have to. Santana nodded and dropped her hand to lace her fingers with Dani's. "I'm in love with you," she whispered, the words intimate and raw. Santana shifted, causing more water to spill over the brim of the tub. She opened her eyes briefly to look into Dani's eyes, backing her words with the truth in her gaze.
Dani
Dani smiled, squeezing Santana's hand. She pressed her lips to Santana's forehead, leaving them there for a few seconds before away. "I'm so in love with you." Her voice was breathy as her eyes found Santana's again. Her smile twitched a little bit. "Baby, I know you're tired, but... I have to tell you something." She bit her lip. "I got an email at work today. With a job offer..." she said softly, searching Santana's eyes.
Santana
Usually Baby, I have to tell you something is followed by bad news. Santana's muscles tensed briefly before Dani continued. "Seriously?" Her body once again softened in Dani's arms as a wide smile bloomed across her face. "Not that I can't believe it," she amended, quickly trying to cover and slight dig that Dani may assume. "You fucking deserve it, baby. You've worked so hard." Santana's eyes lit with genuine excitement and pride.
Dani
With her best friend being tangled in the mess that was her job, Santana was the first person she told - rightfully so. The first time she said it out loud. She nodded and laughed softly. "You know Headquarters? In the Village? I think I've brought you there before..." she shook her head. "Anyway, um... They want me to be their head of programming. I'd have buyers under me and I'd get final say in just about anything. I hadn't even started looking yet..." she admitted. "We haven't met yet to figure out the details though."
Santana
Santana nodded as Dani spoke. "Take it," she ordered. "They want you because you're damn good at what you do and you've proven yourself. It's about damn time." Her smile expanded, reaching her eyes. Santana had always supported Dani's late nights and sometimes bizarre clients, and this was just another achievement that Santana rallied for. "I told you they were stupid to lose you."
Dani
Dani smiled and bit her lip, kissing her softly. "Are you sure? I don't even know the details yet, babe," she whispered, getting giddy regardless. "Oh, God, San. This could be amazing. It could open up so many doors for me. For us..." she amended, squeezing her hip. Us. Everything Dani used to consider, always by herself, was now accompanied by Santana. Every time. That fact alone had Dani grinning more. "You'll have to come to my first event..."
Santana
"I'm positive," Santana assured, never letting her eyes leave Dani's. "This is what you've been working towards. This is what makes all the other shit worth it." Santana guided Dani down for another kiss. "Every event," Santana corrected before pressing their mouths together.
Dani
Dani grinned into the kiss, feeling herself chuckle a little bit. "Every event," she echoed with a sincere smile. "I just can't believe it. I didn't even have to send them a resume, they came to me!" She shook her head, sighing. "We can talk more about this and celebrate after your case, though. We can go back to just relaxing because you need it. When do you have to be up tomorrow?"
Santana
Santana's cheeks ached from the smile beaming across her face. Words couldn't describe how proud Santana was of Dani's unwavering determination and passion. "Because you're that good," Santana chimed, leaning back into her girlfriend's arms and letting the warm water soothe her. "Too early," Santana yawned, her fight to stay awake dissipating as her eyes closed with leaden lids.
Dani
Dani giggled softly, resting her head against Santana's. Santana's approval meant just about everything to Dani - a fact that used to scare her. She pressed a kiss to the top of her head, holding her a little closer. "Okay, love. I really can't wait for you to be done with this case," she breathed, feeling Santana's breathing start to slow and the woman's body relax completely. She looked down to the top of Santana's now sleeping head. "I love you."
