STFU, Sexists.

I thought today would be the perfect day to pop in and say hi. Hope you’re all surviving. 

It's been nearly four years since I started this blog. Four years, 7,872 posts, and 16,599 followers. 

What I've gotten from running this blog can't be measured by numbers. I'm not sure how, exactly, you measure the kinds of discussions, debates, and amazing learning experiences I've been privileged enough to have in the course of running this blog. When I started it, I just intended to poke fun at sexist Facebook posts - and in the process, I learned so, so much. I've learned so much about myself, and the privileges that I have. I've been blown away by learning so much about the experiences of others, people of all genders, races, backgrounds, socioeconomic statuses, and sexual orientations.

In the time that I've been writing the blog, I have graduated college, held a bunch of different jobs, and learned a lot about myself and the world. I've come to two conclusions: there are a lot of problems in this country that need solutions, and there need to be a lot more women in politics, both as campaign workers/staffers and elected officials themselves.

In service of these conclusions, I've decided to take a position as a staffer for a truly progressive woman who is running for Congress. I hope that this is the first step of a career in politics, and I fully intend to take everything I've learned here to fight for equal rights for trans persons, people of all sexualities, all races, all genders, and all socioeconomic statuses. 

Unfortunately, part of taking this next step in my life means leaving this truly enriching one behind. I am proud of (many of) the things I've written on this blog, but I do not want this blog to serve as a distraction, in any present or future campaigns. 

I can't thank all of you enough. It's been truly humbling to have an audience not only of this size, but of this caliber. So many of you have contribute thoughtfully, and opened my mind in so many important and amazing ways. I'll still be Tumbling on a personal blog I just created, and I have definitely followed many of you over there. Please feel free to message me here - I will respond privately (and happily!). So that's it - my final, sign off post. It feels surreal, and of course sad. But I'm the future will be even better.
