The cold is setting in, snow has fallen and the days are a little dreary. So it’s time to talk about how to heat your Tiny House during the cold winter months.

I have attached a few pictures just to give examples of your options, but the choice of heat source comes down to personal preference. In our area, of Eastern Ontario, we have just about an equal amount of people asking for either propane or wood. Electric can be tricky, if you are hooked to the grid it can be easier but expensive per kilowatt hour and solar can be intermittent due to snow or several days of heavy cloud cover. 

Personally, I love a wood burning fireplace but the ash can get a little messy and with micro stoves they need to be emptied fairly often. I love the smell, the sound, the colour of the flames, anything that can remind me of a campfire in the woods. So as long as you don’t mind the ash, this is the way to go.

Several of our current clientele have opted for the propane stoves. You still get the ambiance but not the smell of cedar or the sound of the wood crackling and no ash. It’s obviously the cleaner choice but you also have to make sure you won’t run out of propane. That can be dependent on the size of tank you have; small tanks don’t last too long and the larger you go with the tank size, you will need someone to come fill them for you.

When building a tiny house, you also have to consider the amount of space you have. If you don’t want to give up the floor space but still want to use wood burning heat, there is the option of going with a wood burner similar to the Newport propane heater I have pictured above. The fire won’t last as long but they heat incredibly well.

A/N: soooo….this is different. Okay so long story short I’ve always been obsessed with the whole soulmate alternate universe idea and it’s always just been so amazing to me. Yesterday I went through a really bad anxiety attack and thinking about this calmed me down a little. So since i’m taking a day off from school because i’m ya know..I decided to write about this because it’s really calming me down :) and also I got this idea from a writing prompt. Summary: In a world of black and white, meeting a simple person you didn’t even notice at first restores your world with color.

You sighed as you mindlessly flipped through the pages of your textbook. You had been waiting for your friend for a good five minutes. Usually that wouldn’t be a problem but today it was since she told you that she was already there 10 minutes ago. You did this all the time, cute little study dates at the towns most aesthetically pleasing burger joint. Well.. aesthetic to you at least. You loved the old 80′s vibe that it gave, the shiny booths, the jukeboxes that stopped working years ago, the old records on the wall, and most of all the smell of charbroiled burgers and vanilla milkshakes, the place was a little worn out but that made you love it even more.

“When is she gonna be here…” You sighed checking the time on your phone.

7:14 pm

You sighed as the waitress approached the table.

“Hey Y/N! Back for more I see.” The waitress smiled. You were a regular to this restaurant. You had been coming here since you were little, it was almost like your second home.

“As always.” You smiled. “Where is Avery?” She questioned. You shrugged your shoulders. “Beats me.” And on queue your phone dinged shining bright, revealing a new text message from your best friend.

“hey..don’t be mad but I don’t think i’m gonna make it. Miles came over with pizza and my fave candy. :((( How could I say no? I’ll make it up to you I promise! ”

You shook your head and placed your phone back on the table. “Of course…must be nice.”

“What happened darling?” The waitress said sliding into the booth with you. 

“She’s with her soulmate.” You said with a hint of jealousy in your voice. It seemed like everybody had met their soulmate but you. You had yet to have your world restored with vibrant colors. 

“You still haven’t met your soulmate?” The lady said with her eyebrows raising high. You sighed and shook your head.

“So you have no idea what color anything is right now?” You shook your head again. “All I see is stupid black and white. And all my friends are out in their own colorful world. Being all drunk on love and shit. Last week Avery went on for an hour on how beautiful the color yellow is. What the fuck is a yellow? I wanna know but I have a feeling I won’t know for a while.” You said frustrated.

The waitress chuckled as she rubbed your shoulder. “Oh sweets, you’re gonna meet your mate one day. And when you do your world will swarm with beautiful colors and you’ll be satisfied. But don’t rush to find your mate! I mean look at me I found my mate when I was your age and now he’s bald.” The waitress sighed making you laugh.

“Ay! Betty I heard that!” Bert yelled from the bar. They were the cutest couple you had ever seen.

You and Betty laughed in unison. “Don’t be so hard on yourself love, the time will come when it comes.” She smiled and you nodded in agreement. “So.. what do you want the usual?” She questioned.

“Actually…I want a burger and extra fries and a strawberry milkshake.” You smiled. Betty nodded and walked to the the kitchen. You gathered your textbooks, why have them at the table if you weren’t gonna study anyway?

You got up to walk to your car. As you unlocked your car you saw two guys hop out of a car and walk into the diner. You locked eyes with one of them and he shot you a sweet smile before disappearing into the building. 

You put your books in the trunk then walked back into the diner. You sat back in your booth and your food arrived right on time.

“That was quick.” You giggled and thanked Betty for your food and began to eat. As you were eating you felt a pair of eyes staring at you. You looked up and it was the same guy you locked eyes with earlier. He quickly looked away as you caught him staring. 

30 minutes later

You sighed with satisfaction. You gathered your bag and your phone and left your bill and a very generous tip on the table. As you slid out the booth to leave you bumped into a stiff body. Your bag fell to the floor and everything spilled out. “Oh my god! I’m so sorry..” You and the person said at the same time. You both dropped to your knees to pick up the contents that fell out of your bag. You could heart faint chuckling from Bert, Betty, and an unknown laugh. As you scrambled for your stuff your hand accidentally landed upon the strangers big calloused one.

And suddenly it happened. Color.

Suddenly your world was swarmed with pigment. Different shades, unique tints, and you were at a loss for words. You stood there frozen just looking at your surroundings. You didn’t know how to describe what you were seeing, but it was so beautiful. You finally knew a world of color. Suddenly you remembered what triggered the ability to see such vibrant, breathtaking colors.

You glanced up and met the warm eyes that sparked all of this beauty. You didn’t know how to explain it but his eyes were promising and warm with little specs in them. He was staring at you too, as he had just went through what you went through. The room gout quiet as everybody looked at you two confused.

“Uhm…bro are you good?” A tall figure said placing his hand on the beautiful boy’s shoulder. You looked at the tall figure and noticed the two boys resembled each other. He was wearing a bright yellow sweatshirt that had you captivated. You finally brought yourself to speak.

“I really like that color.” You said. Betty gasped loudly.

“Color?! Oh my god! Bert it’s happening! They are soulmates!” She jumped with a giddy smile stuck on her face.

“I’m Ethan.” He smiled.

“I’m Y/N” You smiled back.
