Time is a precious commodity.

Unfortunately, it’s a commodity you don’t have much of these days.

Keeping up with the exhausting training for your new career while balancing your deepening romance on top of juggling some kind of personal life doesn’t leave much time to relax!

But it wouldn’t be a Wayhaven story you’ve come to know without something new to add to that ever-growing pile…

Something stirs beneath the town of Wayhaven.

Something old.

Something powerful.

Something with a very keen interest in you.

Super busy this week, and it’ll be a busy weekend too! Now we’re getting so close to the end, it always gets hectic!

I did edits this week for the previous chapter. But one of the love interest scenes wasn’t quite right. It just didn’t have the romantic vibe I wanted and was a bit too…intensely serious, lol! :D

I really loved the scene though, so I cut it and saved it for use somewhere else, or at least use the choice set or bits of it in other later scenes.

Then that meant I had to rewrite half of this scene I thought was complete, including a bunch of choice sets in it.

…Then I completely changed my mind, deleted the rewrite and put the first scene back in.

Then, you’ll never guess what…but I changed my mind again, cut out the serious scene, and rewrote it again, lol!

But it’s definitely better now! The vibe really hits just as I want it to for this moment, and the scene flows perfectly! I’m definitely leaving it alone, hehe! :D

After the fun of going back and forth on that, I also caught up with tester feedback, adding in their edits as well as adjusting and adding in choices where things felt needed, etc.

The next chunk of chapters are with them now for testing. My nervousness is really abating after their wonderful feedback too!

Once edits overall were done, I started working on the ending section. I wanted to go over them fully before starting to write, in case anything needed adjusting now the full story has been done, but amazingly no much needed to be changed! Which will make for smooth sailing there—well, except I realise I did need to add an extra ending into it to account for a certain variation during the story I hadn’t accounted for, lol.

But that now means I can make a start on the endings proper, which feels sooooo good!

Also, my editor’s hand has also been healing really well, so they’re back to editing!

It really is full steam ahead!! Phew! :D

Next week, I’ll be pushing on with writing!

Like, would MC remain in Wayhaven? Would Rook tell MC the truth of the supernatural world? Would MC have met unit Bravo at all? Is it spoiler to ask what was his position in the agency?

I think I have answered an ask like this before, but I can't find it, lol!

Basically, everything would have changed for the MC! Rook would have done the opposite of Rebecca, so I'm not sure it would be better, though, lol!

Instead of being absent, Rook would have wanted to make sure the MC didn't feel any absence so would have always been there, to the point of being overbearing, I expect.

But MC would also definitely have known about the supernatural. No way Rook would keep secrets from their kid, at all, no matter what the Agency would have wanted!

Murphy still would have gone after the MC, but at least MC would have more knowledge. And MC would still have met MC. Unit Bravo being vampires was a big part of why they were sent to deal with Murphy, it was just extra bonus they were already Rebecca's team (Rook wouldn't have become a handler though, so UB would have had a different handler).

Yes. That would be possible. As long as the child wasn't a hybrid.

I always imagined it just got crushed up in the debris of the fight, lol! It would have had to have been pretty tiny in the first place.

It was nannies provided by the agency, yeah. Supernatural ones, obviously, hehe! :D

I try not to get too much into the MC's past, as I like people to be able to headcanon what they like (I have quite some varied ones for my own characters, hehe!), though there are definitely some things more set. Some of which come up in Book Four!

Super quick one today as I am getting close to finishing the writing for this chapter like I hoped!!

I will be working on it tomorrow too, to make sure it’s completed.

Which means next week, I can start on the editing! Then after, you know what that means…it’ll be onto the endings!! (I do have some hefty epilogues after that, but I’m ready to celebrate getting to the endings, hehe! :D)

I did postpone the next chunk of testing chapters for the testers this week so I could focus on the chapter, so I’ll be getting those up together and sent off to them next week as well.

Bobby isn't a great fan of A or M, lol! I think there's an instinctual fear there even if they don't know why!

But F aggravates them too. That dismissive way F has with Bobby, not rising to their taunts and having a whole slew of better ones in response really grates against Bobby—which is why Bobby and F interactions are oh-so fun to write, hehe! :D

Yeah, I have a couple of these in there, but I try to be super sparing with them.

I'm not a fan of if there's a choice then it not really having an impact, even if it's just a change in dialogue or something!

But they were necessary in this one, especially considering the type of villain Li-Sar is and how they work...

It's usually the reaction of human agents, not humans out in the public.

Human agents usually have amazement when meeting most supernaturals, but with vampire stories and myths being so common in the human world, they experience the most fear when meeting vampires.

And A can pick up on it, even if the agent tries to hide it (vampiric senses and all, lol).

Even with as stoic as A is, it has had an effect after all the centuries they've experienced those initial reactions!

Not that they've ever considered it might be their icy lack of greeting that also might be contribiuting to that initial wariness from people...lol! :D

Oh, my extreme need to talk about every unit is so intense, I tell you, lol! :D

I don't want to spoil too much, but I will say Unit Charlie are a team made up of shapeshifters (including a centicore, which I've been wanting to write for sooo long, lol!)

I won't answer this ask because it comes up directly during Book Four, so you can find out while being immersed in the moment, hehe! ;D

N and A love triangle was the original romance back when this was going to be a novel series, which is why it's still in the series.

It was very interesting turning F and M into love interests from the characters they used to be, hehe! :D

It got a little hot this week in the UK…and also in Wayhaven! :D

The random heatwave we had certainly helped write a particular scene, that’s for sure! I was going to leave that scene in this chapter until last but the weather, and my headspace, was so in the moment for it that I started to tackle it!

It’s a real doozy as it has differing BFF scenes at the start and then some super important choices later. But I was really in it, and it felt good to have such a complicated scene just flow, especially considering we were all melting in the heat, lol!

I also managed to come up with a solution for something the editor pulled out a couple of chapters ago. There was a part where the coding wasn’t really firing correctly, but I wasn’t sure how to smooth it out. But it just came to me one evening!

Sometimes it’s good to put a problem in the back of your mind and let it rest there—the solution does sometimes just come out of nowhere, hehe :D

Today, I’m focusing on getting June’s calendar page finished for Patreon (Tina and Verda’s turn!), then it’s back to this chapter—which I’m seriously determined to get the writing finished for next week. I'll also be getting the next set of chapters ready for the testers next week! This new process of testing is going waaaay better. Much less pressure on testers and a lot more time for me to really dig into what needs doing from their feedback!

Ok...hmmm...

A would be crushed, but also like 'well, obviously MC doesn't love me', and try to keep it all inside while working on another way to wake MC, seeing it as proof they shouldn't be together.

N...oh my word...this would be their fantasy moment. A fairytale romance moment except...it's not their fairytale as MC doesn't wake up. N would be confused, doubting everything really.

F wouldn't believe it wasn't because it wasn't true love but because there's something wrong with the curse is why it didn't work, lol!

M doesn't believe in fairytale stuff, so if it didn't work they would already be finding another way to make it happen—no matter what it took.

I have an ex and one of my best friends are very tall (6'4"+), lol. And particularly with my friend, he has a very commanding presence but he is the sweetest, kindest man you'll ever meet. So considerate and generous. I love the juxtaposition (wow, I think that's the first time I've ever got to write that word in a proper usage, lol!) of a physically commanding person who ends up being a super teddy bear!

But I really try hard not to put real people stuff into my characters, lol! I think that's partly why they end up being so much larger than life and OTT, 'cause they don't have that real-person grounding, lol! (But that's how I really enjoy writing characters anyway)

I certainly don't know anyone like them in real life, which is good as I definitely want them to feel fictional! Having that separation from reality makes it easier to enjoy the heavy, not-exactly-always-healthy romances, hehe! :D
