STEVE NOOOO!!!

I went into the film knowing that Steve returning was too good to last, but even knowing that I still fell for it and cried my eyes out.

It was heartbreaking to see them reunited, happy and so so in love, only to have it torn from them too soon. The tragedy of Diana and Steve is that they never have enough time which I'm suddenly now realising is represented through Steves watch.

What made it so painful to watch was how badly Diana wanted to keep her wish. She wanted to be selfish just once, to keep the one thing she's ever wanted. And to see her put Steve before her morals and responsibilities showed just much she was willing to do for Steve, even knowing the cost. When she finally renounces the wish it hurts so much to watch because you can feel the sacrifice she made.

Not to mention Steve knowing almost instantly that for Diana to save the world, he would need to die again, and how easily he accepts it. He knows how much the world needs Diana, and that Diana could never be content with sitting back when people are in trouble. He knows he can't be selfish, and he makes that sacrifice twice for her.

The bit that really got to me during the goodbye scene, was when Diana said 'I'll never love again'. We've seen how hard it was for Diana to move on, how lonely she's been since losing all her old friends, and now she's been forced to lose the one she loves most again, sacrificing himself for her again.

I truly believe that she'll never be able to love someone the way she loved Steve ever again.

Don't even get me started on how she wasn't able to face seeing Steve disappear, and she whispers an 'I love you' right before renouncing her wish. The heartbreak on her face just- ouch

The whole moment really adds to the emotion impact of Diana learning how to fly, because that's what Steve's given her. Steve sacrificed himself for Diana to gain her powers back, and the one thing Steve could do, and loved doing, that Diana couldnt was fly. He taught Diana how to fly, and his death was the what finally gave Diana the ability to fly. The moment is so bittersweet and now I can't help but think that every time she flies, she's reminded of Steve.

There's so much more I could say about this film, I truly loved it and loved how it continued the themes of the first film. There's some things I could be picky about but overall it was great and I can't wait to watch it again and cry again.
