Photography in the Digital Age

Soooooo it was all over the news - ‘the biggest one since 1948 and roughly 14% bigger and 30% brighter than an average full moon’ or was it an optical illusion. ‘Can you see the difference if a car is 250 or 225 meters away from you? That is the difference between the size of a normal full moon and a super moon. It has more to do with the fact that the moon is close to the horizon and you therefore have reference points like buildings and trees. As a #photographer it was of interest to me... and as many of my #facebook friends commented .. they were glad I captured it before it remained hidden behind the clouds...

Ladies its your time to shine 

2016 is a leap year so as the old Irish tradition goes it’s possible for you to #propose to your loved ones on 29th February... this honour comes round every 1461 days so make the most of it! 

So if you're fed up of waiting or truly just want to give the greatest surprise time to spring into action.

So what will it be, a private affair, dinner, candle light and a glass of champagne?  Or a banner ad during Monday night football (just make sure its on TV!)

Or maybe a slushy rhyme get your note pad’s out!

Whatever you plan it will be appreciated and if not remember that if he says no, he has to buy you a dress, as formally decreed by Queen Margaret of Scotland!

The last few weeks have involved various pre weeding visits to venues and churches with #bridestobe and in my opinion its important time spent from both the #photographers and the #bride and #grooms point of view.

Its another opportunity for all parties to get to know each other before the #bigday and lets face it the #photographer spends most of your #weddingday right there with you!

It still amazes me that I hear stories of #photographers that don't or indeed won't visit the #bride and #groom prior to the #bigday and that people are happy to accept that, however good the #photographer maybe, always ask to meet them!

There are a whole host of reasons why its imperative to meet your #photographer and where possible visit the venues together but thats for another day!

As an example I met for the second time a lovely #bridetobe and #motherofthebride recently and we visited the church and the reception venue and whilst both venues are absolutely gorgeous and perfect they did allow us to focus on what images you may or may not get at each venue.

The church is a lovely old building with limited grounds for #photographs where the reception venue offers plenty of outside space, and whilst any decent #photographer can think on their feet, knowing what you face can only help the day run smoothly and discussing the options with the #weddingparty prior to the big day will hopefully put their minds at ease.

You will see from the low res picture of the church below the main entrance from the church, this is the largest outside space available and having the opportunity to see this first hand and survey the available vantage points will certainly help on the #bigday.

Lovely little Easter break with my family, now a quick reminder to anyone attending a wedding in the coming months, please remember which hand the confetti is in!!!!

Happy ‘Bridesmaids Day’ !

From supporting the #bride in the lead up to the #bigday to arranging the #HenParty - being a #bridesmaid is a serious job.

I’ve met a few stressed out #bridesmaids at weddings on my #photography shoots and if I can offer any advice it would be this.

* What happens on the Hen stays on the Hen - 1 day you’ll need the same favour!

* Keep your Bride #pictureperfect as any good friend would

* With the drinks flowing make sure your Bridesmaid duties come first & yes this does include getting people on the dance floor  

* Most importantly HAVE FUN & SMILE! 

* Thank you will be word that’s few and far between on the day but on reflection you will be the shining starlet who helped make such a special day.
