Do you at least know the difference between shutter speed and ISO? I found out shooting candle light vigil that high shutter speed and low ISO yields fairly decent results, even better if you use a tripod

using a tripod always helps! As for shutter speed and ISO...my method has always been playing with the buttons until the image looks good.
