I was getting tattooed a lot from 2001 through 2006, but haven’t had much work done since then. I got over it. Most of my art is pretty representative of the period I got it in - heavy shading, detailed, large-format type stuff - which was popular at the time. I have a pirate on my right arm, and a witch doctor on the other. My legs are covered in practice tattoos from when my friends were apprenticing. 

Some of my tattoos are very skilled, but most are badly done, and none are emblematic of my personal style as a full-grown adult. Like cherished scars of an angsty adolescence, I rarely think about them. 

Tattoos don’t feel bad-ass to me anymore, and that’s the reason I get into them in the first place. These days I am interested in personal expression that feels less confined to a subculture. 

The two of spades on my hand is alright though, I like that one. 

I spent the summer making quilts with mennonite women, and now they are available online at credohome.co
