The way her first serious relationship back in college ended. Stella hurt someone without meaning to, and all she did was be honest with them and herself -- so if being herself was hurtful, it stands to reason that she’s just better off always being alone, right?
She can let it go, most of the time -- she knows logically that it doesn’t work like that -- but it flares up at inopportune times and she’s right back where she started all over again.
🏡 describe your character’s home. where do they live?
Stella has a loft downtown, on the second and third floor of a building just a few blocks from the city center. It’s a 2 bed/2.5 bath with quirky, bright furnishings, a kitchen she barely uses, and absolutely no one else she has to share it with. (Except her dog. Pepper still gets spooked at the stairs, but he’s getting better about it.)

By giving people shit. The minute Stella turns her sarcastic sense of humor on you in affectionate teasing, you know you’ve reached the inner circle. It’s a good-natured roasting, and never crosses the line into mean, but once she’s comfortable poking fun at someone, it means she’s knows she won’t drive them away by being herself.
🎀 what is their most beloved belonging?
An old stuffed bear with a wind-up music box inside. The key is on its back, and it plays a tinkly little lullaby when wound. It was Stella’s when she was a baby, and she called it Lulu -- she has it safely tucked away in the top of her closet at home, and its fur is so well-loved it’s almost threadbare.
