ultimately the truth about frankenstein is that we are all grotesque amalgamations of the best and worst parts of everyone who came before us. and sometimes the people who are supposed to love us because of and in spite of this will not. and we can kill them with hammers for that. and i think that’s beautiful

I mean it’s kinda the real life tragedy of love exaggerated, innit? Irl people die young or one person dies old and another person dies even older. At the end of it all someone gets left behind and has to learn how to move on after that. And for the one who dies you know you’re leaving them behind. You know you’re dooming them to moving on and if you believe in an afterlife god only knows how long you’ll be waiting for them on the other side. The tragedy of the immortal loving the mortal takes those feelings we all know about and rips your heart out about it.

thinking about orpheus and eurydice again. thinking about the pain of loving someone too much. too much to let them go. too much to save them. thinking about orpheus running back to the river styx after watching her die for the second time. begging to be let back in. calling her name as the ferryman spits on him. and cerberus growls. but he has to live. he has to live. he has to live. and he finds no peace and he finds no happiness. it would have been better to love her less. it would have been better to love her less.

the worst is wanting to create and create and create but being trapped in a body that is so so so so tired

the ocean as a metaphor ALWAYS slaps. the ocean as a hungry force that wants to consume you? the ocean as something vast and unknowable, like a god itself? the ocean as freedom and liberation? the ocean as the mysteries of the self? the ocean as love? never fails to get me
