‘ mutt ?? ’ she says it low, dangerous; how dare he call her beautiful harvey a mutt! so what, he wasn’t purebred, he was still a darling. a darling with a slight jumping problem. and licking. and digging holes in the garden.

‘ your dog is a walking disaster, & that is not HIS fault, you should have trained him better. and also, i’m not going to talk to you anymore. you have offended both me & my sheepdog so we won’t be talking to you or jesse for the rest of forever. ’

An exaggeration if there ever was one. In actual fact Jesse is some kind of beagle cross with ears too big for his body and a permanent dazed expression. The idiot dog probably wouldn’t recognize his own tail if it bit him. He couldn’t be anything less like his athletic namesake if he tried. Not the point, however. 

                  14 YEAR OLD HAS MIDLIFE CRISIS 

    mock disgust spreads across her face. if she wasn’t     disappointed before, then she certainly was now.

                 an accusing finger points rather harshly at his face, brows furrowed into a tight-knit frown. ‘ harvey is trying his best to learn how to greet people & i’m SORRY if he cannot get it right just yet but he is TRYING & that’s more than you can say, rudy! don’t you ever insult me or my dog ever again !! ’

Hands are thrown up in defense, as if he can somehow block her anger. YEARS of trial and error have taught him to simply wait until she has run her mouth off before attempting to defend himself in any way. Although his feigned fear would be far more convincing if he wasn’t smiling. 

        “You’re the trying one Meminger. Teach the mutt some better         manners or so help me God. My dog manage to be perfectly                  behaved all the time.”

eyes cast down over her pointed nose, perhaps a look of disdain? ( or is that too harsh —- simple ANNOYANCE will suffice ) at the stain on the other’s shirt. how did they not see that before leaving their house?
